No, I'm saying that they still have budgets, these have to be justified, and that isn't as easy as you think it it

Okay. It's Microsoft and they just purchased them to make great RPGs. I'd say they're in good hands financially.

The trailer isn't amazing, but I am glad it is a first person NV-like RPG and the creators give me hope it will be good.

You do realize even suits will understand that a game from the creator of Fallout is a big deal. Without even bringing New Vegas into it they already had a golden pitch.
Yeah it's a big dea, but publishers have patience limits. When Obsidian initially asked Sega to delay Alpha Protocol to polish it they were like "sure." But when asked again for more development time during the delay the big man said "no you guys are just a lost cause now."
Yes, Microsoft tends to be fairly loose, but Outer Worlds is Take2's Private Division.

My inside sources tell me that the Microsoft acquisition of Obsidian is contingent on having Josh Sawyer perform German folk songs every Tuesday afternoon.

Borderlands was a fun game to kill a bit of time. Throw in a proper RPG design and it can be good.

I'll wait for more information but for now we can at least confirm that this isn't some medium-budget effort but a proper AAA RPG.
I believe they've said that it's the largest production they've ever done but it's done under the Take Two Private Division label which is supposed to be mid-range budget-wise where the studio gets to keep the IP.

Is it possible Microsoft are putting extra money into it so it has more scope and they can pull their "plays best on Xbox One X" spiel? Could see something like a standalone expansion / DLC that's exclusive to Microsoft coming out after this if it does reasonably well.

I really wish all those washed up all fogies would just quit gamedev and retire for good. So sick of shit being peddled under the guise of "industry veteran" projects. It's been like a fucking decade.
After all what Avellone said, after all that shitting on Feargus, after all whining in the Microsoft thread after the takeover, the sheep are still getting turned on. And they can't comprehend that it's still Obsidian, the same Obsidian that shat out only failures in the last years. And they forget that Timmy is just one person, and it was very long time since he made anything worthwhile. There's just no cure, I guess.

Or Mass Effect(Shit. Except for Mass Effect 1)
Mass Effect 1 was shit too.

I am so happy that i decided to go to sleep instead of watching this....thing. The game looks mostly meh,but it could be good. I liked most of the facial animations, that is why i am hopeful that the dialogue will deliver. The enemy looked like some plastic shit, but who care, nobody plays obsidian games for the combat. The setting looks like the borderlands,fallout4 and red dead were at a bukkake party together. It feel far too cringe and lacks originality and believability. Also i noticed that they are trying to go for the vault boy with this retarded shit:
bPDKnWi.png

It looks really bad.

Still i will wait and see if the game is worth any hope.

The lion’s share of the profits will go to Private Division, so it doesn’t make a ton of sense for MSFT to throw money at this particular game.

Microsoft's priority is no longer making immediate money off of software. They're trying to build up game pass as the way of the future and even though this one wont' be exclusive if it does well then it helps game pass when next time round Obsidian's game is exclusive. Like I mentioned I'm sure Microsoft have ensured they'll own the IP after this so investing a bit further in this to raise the brand and profit further off of sequels/DLC later on makes more sense then just letting a buggy, less well received game out the gate because they'll make less short term profits.

Looking at the development time and the style of game I doubt Private Division would have been willing to fund a 4 year cycle with a large team, I think if the Microsoft acquisition hadn't have happened we would've seen this out already instead of probably around October 2019.

Am I the only who isn't surprised by the Borderlands similarity? From last year: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/index.p...-mistakes-to-avoid.114809/page-3#post-5075084

Boderlands 2 with lots of addicting random drops and multiplayer and the least amount of roleplaying as possible.

What if it's Borderlands 2 with lots of addicting random drops (1-2 in his list) AND roleplaying (5-7)?

(People seemed to have trouble wrapping their heads around that idea then)

like i said about 10 page ago. this is gonna ride the wave from fallout's disaster and took over.

it's repeat of DBZ fighter Z when capcom vs marvel infitine flopped
Recently with Diablo Immortal flop, lot of Diablo 3 fans migrated to Path of Exile.
