Prosper The Legend of Candlewind, a turn-based, first-person dungeon crawler (yup, it's shovelware)

Looks generic.

Also, why is the norm, even in these "oh look we're oldschool days", to cut down on the number of characters?
You could hope it's because they might have more complex mechanics that can offer enough depth that a bigger party size could become a chore to manage, but who am I fooling. All those games are coming on the heels of Grimrock.

edit: I forgot to say blobbers are shit for the retarded and the japanese

Oh man, having to scroll the cursor across the screen 4 times per round to perform a basic attack is going to get old fast.

Looks boring as hell

dat firestorm animation...

Damn, I was looking forward to this title after seeing the first screenshot. But watching the video I can only agree with the above statements.

>The team behind The Role Playing Company not only have many years of working on role-playing games behind them

They may know all the RPG rules from alpha to omega, but obviously have no skill in game design. It's like they only animated the screenshot itself and call it done.

Will be released on Steam...tomorrow: http://store.steampowered.com/app/326650/

They've changed the name to The Legend of Candlewind: Nights & Candles, btw.

Candlewind is a small and peaceful town where everyone lives in harmony. At least, that's what it used to be. The forces of darkness have come to stay. Deep in the depths of the earth, a dark power is rearing its ugly head. The villagers are blissfully unaware — for the moment. You alone can prevent the destruction of Candlewind. Ride into battle with your warriors, explore dark dungeons, discover legendary treasures, and protect Candlewind from the danger it knows nothing of.

The Legend of Candlewind: Nights & Candles returns to the traditions of old role-playing legends. Go up against the forces of evil in hand-drawn dungeons, step by step. Following in the footsteps of classic dungeon crawlers, players will take part in turn-based battles that will put their skills to the ultimate test. Only true role-playing gamers will have any chance of survival!

Hand-drawn graphics
Exactly like it used to be: Every single little detail in The Legend of Candlewind has been drawn by hand. The hand-crafted visuals create an atmosphere that has not been seen for a long time in today's role-playing games.

A giant dungeon to explore
A vast dungeon awaits! Under the town of Candlewind, an enormous cavern with ten different levels waits to be explored. In addition, there are also numerous hidden rooms, secret sections and multiple ways of traversing the gloomy passages. But watch out: There's no way to know if a nasty goblin's around that next corner.

Turn by turn
Real-time battles? Not here! Strategy and tactics are core to The Legend of Candlewind. In the turn-based battles, it is wits, and not speed, which will lead you to success. Plan your every step with care, as your opponents will exploit every single one of your mistakes to make your life a living hell — so don't give them an opportunity to do so.

Retro and hardcore
No, The Legend of Candlewind definitely isn't a walk in the park, but experienced role-playing gamers will appreciate the challenge: Especially as they will definitely remember the classic dungeon crawlers that served as the basis for the development of this game.

There's also a vey brief manual: http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/326650/manuals/The_Legend_of_Candlewind_en.pdf

And dear Bunny, seems like there's no hotkeys...

Shame there is no demo, as I could really possibly be into this. Instead of the Dance Dance Fever Grimrock.

From reading the manual, it seems there is no custom character creation and only 4 pre-determined characters? And in all the screenshots only 4 of 6 character slots are used.

I love to see more turn-based blobbers available, but I probably won't be in any rush to buy this until I hear some reviews.

hmm.
thread starts 2 years ago, 4 identical portraits.
Fast forward to today, 4 identical portraits still.

It's ok to have other priorities, but still...

Based on absolutely nothing at all, I'd like to think this game is what happens when quadruplet brothers who formed a Scandinavian metal band are plunged into a Ren-Fair that's been relocated into the sewers due to inclement weather.

Little do the brothers know that the Ren-Fair is run by a real mage who has the power to blur the line between real and make-believe...

Looks like Grade A bundle fodder. Shame Bard's Tale 4 is at least two years off.
