That whole „Ellie is mad at Joel for saving her life“ shtick is fucking stupid. That fact alone makes your drivel obsolete.
If Joel saved a kamikaze brainwashed by Hirohito it could work because "muh honor, the emperor is a god blablabla". But Ellie of first game wouldn't react that way (just like Joel is no more paranoid toward pefect strangers), Ellie 2 is just another character, boring and serious to help making Abby likeable.
Also those ungrateful butchers of Fireflies instead of doing their part of the deal were about to kill Joel shortly after the surgery because they were depicted as cartoonish evil.
Now, you could say that she could still kill Abby anyway, and that's true, but consider the circumstances as well at the end. She finds Abby emaciated and crucified, having spent months in slavery. When Ellie cuts her down her first act is to immediately go after the boy. She's not interested in fighting Ellie at all, in fact she refuses to and willingly accepts her fate at Ellie's hands until Ellie actually threatens said boy. She's basically a completely different person at this point. Ellie can see this as well, despite the fact that she forces her to fight. So this also contributes to her decision to let her go.
Ellie allowing Abby go after she saved Lev would make more sense.
Ellie is already vicious backstabbing a lot of people (even people that helped her) to reach Abby. Her reaction about Lev being saved is.....trying to cut their throat to provoke a DUEL.
After that there is only Abby fighting for her life and biting off two fingers.
That makes me worry: you are willing to cold blood murder a child to piss off your enemy (only reason here: usually villain movies use it to force hero to disarm) but few minutes after you spare an enemy in the heat of a battle after losing two of your fingers? This isn't Ellie's fault but Druckmann not being able to perceive a realistic behaviour.
