Drova gets the usual Poledex "It's like Gothic" votes and Rogue Trader has the autism audience.
Good to see SKALD being top though.

Goddamn, what a trashy selection...
Anyway, I voted Heads Will Roll.
Pretty cool.

Still plenty of time to do a couple of playthroughs of Felvidek. C'mon.

Drova may be losing #2?!
Also 14 nominated games don't have a single vote lmao
There are 78 voters, with a maximum of three votes each. It was hard to diversify the voting too much.
Are 78 voters the 'standard'?
Wouldn't know, some people may be waiting for the 'official' GOTY poll that is as always late and will as always have not very transparent calculations behind

Dear All,
After an arduous month of nominations and voting, we've finally reached the definitive conclusion as to what's the GOTY of 2024. 84 people have voted for up to three games, nominated in the previous two weeks. Unsurprisingly for an RPG website, it is RPGs that dominate the poll.

#1 goes to SKALD: Against the Black Priory, released last May, having thwarted the competition with its 24 votes, 28,6%. Is it the nostalgic presentation, is it the TB combat? Is it the fact that SKALD runs on any toaster? We may never know.

#2 goes to Drova: Forsaken Kin, released last October, with its 15 votes, 17,9%. This isometric action RPG inspired slightly by Gothic has seen some ravenous following on the Codex, but apparently just short of total domination.

#3 goes to WH40K: Rogue Trader - Void Shadows, released last September as a DLC to the 2023 game, with its 12 votes, 14,3%. The scramble for third place was the least obvious one, with quite a few games competing for the spot, only to get bested by a DLC.

Just below the podium we have Felvidek, SMT5: Vengeance, and DA: The Veilguard. Many have assumed that Veilguard will do better, but they have to wipe their tears now.

The poll's dominated by WRPGs, but let's consider JRPGs alone now. In this segment, it's SMT5V (8 votes), Dragon's Dogma 2 (7 votes), Persona 3 Reload (5 votes). Metaphor, FF7 Remake part whatever, and Yakuza 8 flicker in the distance. I'm sure this has nothing to do with the SMT5V key giveaway craze by one of our esteemed colleagues.

Stellar Blade fucks the competition when it comes to non-RPGs, further reinforcing the need for quality boobs in video gaming. Factorio, Caves of Qud, and Dominions also made a slight comeback.

An honourable mention for Heads Will Roll for having usurped quite a few votes, despite being a VN. An honourable cackle at the 14 games that were nominated, but failed to secure anyone's votes.

Thank you Maxie for organizing the poll. Well done, as most of your posts are.

Fuck you @Codex for not playing Felvidek, and voting for some derivative nostalgia bait. Disappointing, as most things you guys do are.

Felvidek thread sits in the jRPG forum, so maybe that is one of the reasons it had small exposure in here?

Where will the official voting for the Codex GOTY take place? How, where, and when will it be announced?

I only found this thread by chance, and I don’t follow the news thread. I prefer to follow the threads dedicated to the games directly.

I was talking about the GOTY vote, and suddenly, the undisputed champion of IDIOTY appears.

Life works in mysterious ways. I’d like your autograph.

I'm surprised about the Rogue Trade taking the third place? Is it really that good?
By now after the usual initial Owlcat bugs have been sorted it is a fine representation of the 40K universe, much less cringe than Wrath, and apparently you can be autistic about builds.
