I played a few hours today and I got to say the beginning is pretty horrible. Things are opening up so maybe it wilp get better but right now I'm not impressed. It is also suppose to get a day 1 patch and who knows maybe that might fix the terrible tactical camera or keyboard/mouse controls or at very least the incredibly jarring 30fps cutscenes. Right now the best I can say is that it isn't as bad as Dragon Age 2.

Sounds like a real GOTY candidate if I've ever heard of one.

"It cannot be stated enough: the personal beauty of your waifu is of critical importance in a dating simulator."

Can it REALLY be adating simulator when it consists of less than 1% of the total content and less than 1% of the custome rbase buys it for that? LMAO

"Ah, I remember the good old days, when we spent an hour in character creation, choosing the attributes, skills, feats, traits, classes and race. Now we spend an hour in character creation playing dressup with a doll, puting up makeup, eyeshadow and lipstick."
It takes you an hour to do character creation at any time? IDIOT.

surprise surprise, almost every single one of the group think codex crowd hates the game, likely not even having played it because of course, they are too good to play a game without pirating it instead. I'll see if you all are right when I get home, but I'm not holding my breath, biggest bunch of bioware haters on the internet here.

Took me a year to build my Blood Bowl team.
Watch your mouth, cocksucker.
Your beloved dev is about to get reamed on the ass by EA.

Is this the same 'beloved' dev where I didn't even finish their last game and din't even bother to buy their so called 'magnum opus' and rarely bother posting on their forums?

Graphics look more decent than on videos, it seems that journos and presenters either played on console, or on PC with some weird quality settings. Cutscenes are locked to 30 FPS though, and this is really jarring.

Really, really good music though. Surprisingly good.

Atrocious Cassandra's VA, female PC's VA with american accent is decent.

Tactical mode is present, and while using M+KB combination it's preferable to standard button mashing mode, because later is totally console-orientated. E.g. no auto-attack, you'll need to manually move your character to target and start clicking "R" or LMB constantly, occasionally using special abilities. Biggest drawback of a tactical mode is that it won't work normally in places with ceiling, lol. Ceiling prevents camera from zooming out, so you need to navigate your tactical camera, and this is quite tedious.

As for the plot — underwhelming beginning, cataclysm starts from the get-go, game doesn't give you any time to get acquainted with your party members or the world. It's both good and bad thing, I suppose, because on the one hand - less drama, but on the other - if I'm not invested in the fate of shitty Thedas or its inhabitants, why should I even care about those Oblivion gates.

This Frankenstein's monster of a game doesn't deserve a long review so I'll be extra quick.

Story? Calling it a brainfart is being generous (particularly because it’s a direct copypaste from TES4). You choices from previous games? They don’t mean squat. Yeah, the Keep is just a form of copy protection and nothing else. But to be fair the choices you make in DAI don’t change anything either. Dialogues? Written by a bunch of illiterate morons. Combat system? Designed for consoles, ‘nuff said. Keyboard+mouse option was a last minute addition so on PC controls are awkward as hell. Graphics? They spent truckloads of money on it but most of the character models are nauseatingly ugly and animations are even worse. Performance? One word: stuttering.

They wanted to make Dragon Age: Skyrim and ended up with Dragon Age: Oblivion encumbered (on PC) with three different kinds of DRM - Origin, Denuva and the Keep - all at once. Oh, and when I say "Oblivion" believe me I mean it. I hope Bethesda will sue them for such blatant plagiarism.

DAI is so terrible it makes ME3 look good. But the hype train of paid ads poorly disguised as "professional" reviews has been going at full speed for months so I'm sure they'll post record sales numbers soon enough.

EA never changes and Biobots never learn.

First Metarcritic user review.

I will admit it's a bit long, since the average Japanese date simulators run about 2.5% to 5%. But since the Bioware fanbase seems willing to do the extra grinding of relationship meters in between sex scenes, more power to them.

I am constantly amazed at people buying modern games on day one (or preordering them). Even if they turn out to be good, which is rarely the case, they still require months of patching before reaching complete state (if they reach it at all).

Do people get their money's worth from being able to get angry at the game and post about it on the internet on day one? Is this the world we live in now?

Unfortunately yes. At first they proud with their preorder as if they have bought a ticket to paradise. Then they install the game and on the wave of the hype-train start to swallow its content. And with every flub or bug they become angrier and go to forums to post few angry comments.
Buying a new game is an unsafe investment. Bioware lost my trust couple years ago so I am not going to take any unnecessary risks.

It will be good crpg, without Gaider lgbt marketing it will have much better reception among players. Personally i don't have nothing against gays, lesbians or transsexuals [maybe i just don't agree to adopting children by them but thats all], this way or another these people were always part of society. And they deserve dignity and normal laws like any other human being.
If it's not main gameplay feature let it be, i think most of "gay haters" here and in overall, still lives with their mommy, have skyrocketing complexes or are just retards.
To some point making laugh about too much gay content in the game is nothing wrong like any other funny comments, but calling other people faggots etc. every time is just retarded "racism" and kind of sickness.
Calling Bioware shitty company etc. is also "too much", its good developer in the past but also in present gaming, and games like Mass Effect series had one of the most engaging stories and characters ever written in crpg gaming, Mordin, Wrex are among best npc's in today's crpgs.
Not to mention art style and overall scale.
It's sad that some people can say that writing, stories and rest were great only in Torment, BG, Fallouts etc. and are closed for new views, new games and new mechanics, calling almost any non-standard crpg game shit. Sure old games were great but new ones can be great too.
I play oldies to this day, launching Fallouts, Ishar etc. but please, they are just good "memories" of the past, for many of us from childhood where everything "was better". Time to move on.
Not to mention reading rpg Codex is sometimes boring becouse 85% of posts are about criticize and bash something. I wonder what are you doing in real life guys and what are your achievements there? Are you talking to your kids same way? "Go play fuking retard" etc. ? Maybe most of You just don't have kids, or own families becouse i doubt any normal adult person can spread so large ammount of "hate" ;).
It looks like 3/4 of codex are just unhappy loosers, just a impression after some time.

Why can't Western designers into hair? Japan and Korea have been making great hair for years, meanwhile in a 2014 almost 2015 Canuck game we get this weird shiny play-doh wig.

Scene from your comment reminds me about cheap porn movies.
In such moments I remember Max Payne 2 and stunning display of chemistry and passion between Max and Mona.
