I just read that you can jump with R3 now (whatever that is), instead of having to first build up a run and then do the barrel roll, which is nice. Should come in handy in that section. The jump in dark souls was way to finicky (yes I'm looking at you the great hollows and the way back to undead asylum, even though I eventually mastered it, and found out that it is a bad idea to do it with heavy armor).

Thank god. I hated the way they implemented jumping in Dark Souls. What a pile of ass cunt.

You don't have to jump to get back to the Undead Asylum. At the part where you're thinking (where you have to get from the cliff to the stone structure) you just have to stand at the edge and roll forward.

I don't?
:rage:

But oh well, eventually I got so pro at doing that twitchy thing you need to jump from there, that I get it every time now
:martini:

The invisible walls as you walk up that ledge still pisses me off though

Among other things, aimed + reloading spells.

All inclines!

If I remember correctly, you can now get invaded while being hollow, does that mean that you can summon people too when you are hollow?

I got 3/5.

Did not know about FP-aiming spells or how you no longer have ANY invincible animations.

The music in that video is very good, very moody. I would love to play through the game listening to that.

Seems cool. I enjoyed playing 100% Sorc in Dark souls one, seems like it will be more potent now.

I wonder if I am the only one mainly loving DeS/DS for the story/mood/writing/voiceacting. The trailer lady is sending chills down my spine. I am a sucker for forgotten worlds.
You've no idea how much I appreciate these games. From Software! I wish you all the best! May you continue making great games before you inevitably become horrible or bankrupt!

Oh, you're not the only one. The amazing atmosphere and lore that these games have are one of the main reasons I enjoy them so much. As for voice acting, I was delighted when I watched the trailer, especially since at 1:45 you can hear the voice of the Crestfallen Warrior, which is my favourite VA in the Souls games.

These games are the complete package. There is not one element I could say I don't enjoy. Combat mechanics, art direction, lore, voice acting. They are the console games of the generation for a reason (this has been objectively proven, btw). I still do Maiden in Black, Blacksmiths, and Stockpile Thomas impressions/quotes on the reg, that's how much I dig the voice acting.

If people like this kind of thing, they really need to go back and check out Otogi and Shadow Tower Abyss. There is something of a spiritual component in all these games that set them apart, like they've tapped into some other reality or afterlife and conjured up its air. Or I'm a crackpot.

Whoa have you guys seen the new trailer? It looks very interesting with some sort of undead...constructs as in large humanoid monsters made out if smaller human sized bodies. It is like the undead theme in this game is more prevalent, in the prior game the destruction of the Bed of Chaos could be to blame for a lack of proper "demons" here, they seem more like evolved undead beasts and humanoids...by far the game I am looking the most this year

Looking at the trailer again the creatures here feel a slight resemblance with both the Demons Souls creatures and the Oolacile dark affected people. Since From seems likely to play the "openended" conclusion to Dark Souls, where becoming the Dark Lord or kinddling the flame only speed up or forstall the Fire from going out these new designs seem more like Dark touched humanoids and creatures rather than outright demons. Also the narrative seems to imply that the undead who go to the norther kingdom go there either seeking a cure for their condition or to somehow just end their existance without hollowing out

My take remains that because of Lordran's completely FUBAR levels of time distortion in Lordran the events of DS are an eternal super-position (they're simultaneously yet to happen, are happening, or have happened in all possible ways while nothing seemingly changes outside the Lordran time distortion "bubble"). Given the fact they're mentioned time hijinks playing a part I'm fairly sure something like this will be the answer.

fortunately the game isn't written by Ken Levine (the time distortion thing is only there for a lore explanation of the phantom mechanics, and it's pretty obvious from trailers and interviews that DkS 2 happens in the faaaaaaar future when nobody even remembers the names of the things/persons of Lordran).

I don't understand the time problem; we are talking about a quasi medieval classical setting where Lorderan is sort of the Olympus where the gods live but the farther you are from there the fainter and less distint would the Gods be and they would turn into Legends. Remeber than the best timeline clues come from Quelana when she says that her mnother tried to recreate the Flame and lost control of iit 1000 years ago, she took Salaman as deciple 200 years ago and from the Oolacile\Manus incident too place arround 400 years before that.
If all the clues we have over the identity of the giants who fled across the sea are that they are the "god" race then they probably are the giants that fled from Anor Londo when Flann and Gwendolyn left too, probably arround the time of Oolacile.
So all the concepts of the gods and heroes would indeed be "legends" from that time...the fact that the bonfire still work and the whole curse of the undead is rampanta accross the land leads me to belive that it would be the equivalent of Lordaran beign ancient greece and the setting for DS2 beign america...of course the old gods would have drifted from memory and be barely remebered only as myths and lehgends
