Well, you defiitely better to shoot from aroud a corer if you ca as it gives you defece bous, but o shootig to the darkess as you will miss.
Also if mob is behid a corer too, he will have defece bouses too so there is o poit to shoot like that is it't ot a rocket laucher.
Ayway LoS mechaics is differet there.

Btw my questio is about Mometum bous o melee weapo - does it use oly dodge value or dodge+melee guard?
I thik oly dodge otherwise it would be too strog.

Any other sci-fi roguelikes similar to Jupiter Hell/DoomRL/DRL and Sword of the Stars: The Pit?

https://store.steampowered.com/app/676830/Xenomarine/ - haven't played this one but it seems to fit the bill
+1 for Cogmind - it's pretty much an action/shooter game

http://roguebasin.com/index.php?title=DeadCold - exploring alien-infested space station; mechanics-wise similar to GearHead because of the same dev (you could try GearHead too for mecha/airplane/on-foot gunnery but it's a normal rpg; grab the ascii version if you do)
https://cynapse077.itch.io/axu-rl - kinda-sorta science-fantasy thing with rather straightforward combat
http://www.roguebasin.com/index.php?title=City_of_the_Damned - not sci-fi but it's fast-paced military vs demons vs angels skirmish with relatively high chances of ending in a bloodbath

https://gridbugs.itch.io/meters-below-the-ground and https://supperdev.itch.io/strive are coffeebreak hack&slashes with guns
https://adamalexandr.itch.io/space-marines - space hulk: alien edition
http://www.roguebasin.com/index.php?title=Rogue_Mercenaries & http://www.roguebasin.com/index.php?title=Waaaghammer
http://roguebasin.com/index.php?title=Xenocide
https://tanthie.itch.io/rogue-effect
http://www.roguebasin.com/index.php?title=Hundred

I recall getting strong vibes of this: https://rpgmaker.net/games/4395/ when I played the Pit, but I haven't liked either of them much and it's fantasy so your mileage may vary.

Won with Tech melee, called him Tech Ninja.
The only problem is with armor repair - I rolled durable on both helmet and armor, and anyway was eat through multitools fast. If not that, dunno.
Workig strategy - to get lucky with Europe Dig Zone with those sweet health, tech ad manufacturing Mk3 station.

What a hamster I am.

Gibbed him in 3 hits.

Equip.

One of the last figths - 4 ravagers, and pack of exlted something behind them. Used toxic smoke screen on ravagers and cut through them so fast I coudn't notice what those exalted mobs were.

caves of qud
Out of the question, for reasons already explained here.
The guy who wrote that post has no idea what he is talking about.
Even if what he wrote was true (it is not), it is still irrelevant to the quality of the game.
As a result you are going to resort to scraping the bottom of the barrel instead of playing one of the better roguelike there is.

I'm really enjoying The Spiral Labyrinth. It feels like a long lost Mega Drive Mystery Dungeon game. The early game RNG is absolutely brutal and it looks to have no meta-progression at all. It's a bit like a 100 level Shiren challenge dungeon. After 13 hours I've only gotten to floor 49. Stealing from the merchant using only a portal staff on level 1 is a huge rush if you can pull it off.

Steam Marines might be worth a shot. It's party-based though. And it has a noticeably lower production value, but it has its charm, such as being able to blow up any wall if I remember correctly. Just make sure you do not buy it at full price.

Autistically attempting at succeeding with a Formicid Fighter of Gozag build (DCSS), something that's quite difficult to pull off during early game. Maces + best gear available through Gozag's merchants + bribe, that's pretty much the plan. Sticking with Gozag for now, even though Zin would be probably be a better option. Melee formicid build is underrated; the digging and the special vision abilities ensure you can avoid getting surrounded, but on the other hand the common ways of escaping from dire situations are almost non-existent due to the species's restriction (cannot blink or teleport).

In new version without hunger, I pretty easily - from first try - did octo-transmuter, whish I coudn't do all the years before (well once OcTm died at acid pit or whatitsname).
Survived to learn and cast Stone Statue, which pretty much allow to tank anything. Like... previously there was danger to run out of food casting SF like that.

Just almost beat Jupiter Hell on NIGHTMARE, except the last figth, where you apparantly need some WMD weapon, like rocket launcher with toxic cloud mod, or Toxicologist perk, cause summons the Summoner summon (welp) are too numerous, I underestimated it, cause on ULTRAVIOLET this figth is a cakewalk.
Not going to do that again cause there will be no difference except the last 5 min, bleh.

Bring this or a few plasma greades with you.

Trying to get into Hack but I keep getting stopped by a mysterious force on the first down staircase. Pretty hard to troubleshoot when it's an ancient game with no community or much archived. I've heard it's easier than Nethack though, and I've already completed that, so there is hope yet. Just have to figure out what this is.

DCSS without food/hunger... and Centaurs. Lmao.

So? The food clock was vestigial for pretty much all race/class combinations anyway. Not having to stop whatever the fuck I'm doing to procure chunks at all times is a net improvement. Replacing centaurs with pangolin centaurs is random af, but pretty much par for the course at this point.

Oh, I actually liked the removal of food. It made casters much less of a hassle. But removing centaurs? Why? The entire point of the race was to have a fast moving bow user race. Also holy shit they added a fucking death timer, what crack were they smoking?

What's the point of Zot timer anyway? It is very hard to trigger it, 6k turns per floor is a lot. I guess this mechanic will be next to remove (together with curses according to their pull requests on git), so basically they just remove food/hunger.
