Here's a little taste of what I am currently involved with. I am responsible for environment modeling, creepy lighting (Enlighten), technical shader arts & prefabs, and of course - performance. Unity HDRP pipeline. Excuse me as I continue to survive Shodan's wrath, need to get this game shipped!

Having played System Shock growing up, the opportunity to work with the fantastic team at OtherSide Austin had a big draw for me. While engaged in leading engineering on an unannounced project at OSE Boston, I managed to find my way to get some time on this historic project. While I can’t say much as it is still unreleased; I will say that we can expect big things from the team down in Austin. They are some of the hardest working, well managed, and most talented developers I have seen assembled.

(He has re-joined inXile as Senior Engineer btw. Good for him.)

Why two huge recycling signs on the drone? Looks ridiculous.

Maybe collecting trash or recycling containers or something like that was the drone's original function. Shodan is turning ordinary industrial robots into killer robots, like the hoppers in SS1 which used to be welding robots.

I think the question was more why two instead of one - and to that my in-universe guess would be that the yellow fabric is some sort of reusable tape that is placed on stuff of different sizes (e.g. would be the same tape to put on a drone, on a big recycling bin or whatever else) so it is actually repeating. The out-of-universe guess would be that the artist just placed a bunch of symbols there to fill the area without thinking much (it can happen if you are focused on the looks while forgetting the function - in larger teams there are others who can spot this but on a smaller team it can slip by unnoticed).

Haven't these guys figured it out yet?

First priorities should be:
- show off all the preliminary UI so we can take the piss out of it and make reaching guesses about how the game really works
- reveal all the work-in-progress RPG stats and systems for muh autism

Everything else is secondary.

especially given that you're trapped... lol.... waypoints make sense in games where the area is "mapped out" or someone could guide you somewhere, I would expect.

If SHODAN offered me a minimap I don't think I would trust it

Speaking of which, there are things SHODAN can do to mess with the player, but I can't say more than that

Scrolling through some of the weapon feedback in particular; I'm smiling. The dev team is definitely already thinking in many of the ways you guys are.

(People talked about weapon degradation, generally favored toward it.)
