They aren't merging, that would be admitting people are quitting the game.

Last I played their answer for low pop servers was the 1.2 cross-server warzones, later they'll probably add a cross-server flashpoint LFG tool and be done with it.

Mind boggling that EA's making the same fuckups they did with WAR. Just merge the lower pop servers you fucking dickheads. A few trolls on message boards with laugh (like us) but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is Subs, and nothing kills a sub based game faster than a huge chunk of your playerbase spread across umpteenth empty servers.

Problem is that SWTOR is not a sub-based game. It's a game where you play one class storyline and then quit before you have to actually pay a sub. It literally offers nothing of multiplayer substance more than any other MMO available.

1.2 armor models
Lmao, how do they come up with that shit?
I'm keeping my Champion set.
Tis good that, as I've heard, in 1.2 there will be an option to get Armorings from Columi/Rakata and other sets, and armorings would carry special abilities conferred by those sets, which means full armor customisation would be possible.

Why that shit wasn't on the game since the beginning, I've no idea. But it's going to be funny with all the slave girls running around.

Bioware delivers once again: their ability to fuck up is something of a myth nowadays. Here's the story.

Two days ago or about, they accidently, before the stated time, appiled 1.2 patch, and people who downloaded it could't play the game at all, because there were a bunch of other people who played 1.1 version yet. Some people PCs were decimated by this, to a point that they had to reinstall client and struggle to get their game work. Those people got 3 free days of play however from Bioware.
Yesterday a 1.2 finaly happened. Ranked Warzones which people wanted so much were't included. Old armorings from items did't carry set bonuses. A lot of people spent half of million of credits (including yours only) to find out that they need to collect entirely new set to actually customise their armour. PvP became a mess, where people evaporated in a pile of goo in a matter of seconds. Here's the thing: Expertise stat, which is a prime PvP stat, changed it's progression. Inbefore patch it gave equal amount of DPS, survivability and healing bonus. Now it is twice as powerful for DPSers than healers, and maybe 2-3% weaker for damage absorption. The amount of healers unsubscribed probably was pretty high.
Wait, it gets better. Today they applied new morning patch which had to, I quote:
  • Addressed an issue that could prevent characters from being deleted.
  • Made improvements to the CS ticketing system.
Well, it sure did. But in a meantime, it WIPED OUT 1.2 MAPS AND FEATURES. Basically, new dungeon was gone (and people got trapped near shuttle or something), banks are gone (my clan already deposited 3 million there), overall, Fleet map was rolled back to 1.5 or something.
IT GETS BETTER.

All live servers will be coming down in approximately 15 minutes for an unscheduled maintenance (approx 9:30am CDT, 3:30PM BST, 4:30PM CEST, 12:30AM (April 14th) AEST).

We have no ETA for servers being back online at this time.

This thing popped out not instantly, actually. For some time, people tried to log in in a perfectly fine log in window, wait for game to download, and see that all servers are actually shut down.

Well played, Bioware. Well played :troll:
Friday 13th bit em right in the ass.

Grorious, grorious trainwreck.

It really is like Titanic, only if Titanic was a passenger spacecraft that ploughed into Earth's surface at its interplanetary transit velocity, pulverizing some cities on its way.

ohoh, I better check my PvE set.

Whatever, as it was a healer could just stand there and heal through 2 guys DPSing him. Now they can only heal through one.

Well they fixed stuff and gave us additional 1 free day for inconvenience. I still think that PvP is shit - it's hard to talk about any pace or tactics, when everyone dies so often. Sure, healers were broken, but now they make 180 turn and make everyone exept DPSers broken. I prefered slow paced, gentlemen's PvP :obviously: where you actually have to mark and assist healers if you don't want to bang your head for eternity to try and get past first objective. Now support classes more of a gimmick than strategical asset. Most of them already respeced to DPS.

Trying to level up my Imperial Agent now, but to be honest all the planets except for the first two are seemingly endless grinds. The class quests ARE good but they are something like 10% of the game, and I really don't want to go through all the others again and again each time I want to get a character to 50.

There is currently a reasonably decent event going on. People are encouraged to gather a sort of new currency in the desert, Ghoul DNA, with which they can purchase some cosmetic effects such as companion customisations or pets. Consequently, the only two places where it can be gathered have gradually become natural PvP grounds, since people are competing for resources. Sadly, the event quests are lacklustre per se.

Additionally, they have introduced treasure hunting - or, rather, hunting for rare items that respawn after a certain time period. Though far from the relative sophistication of Ultima Online, that still is a step forward from WoW. Hopefully, both rare spawns and the event items will be later removed from the game, making these items into relics and creating a curiosity market.

It is also possible to customise one's ship now, so it's more like a house. The customisations are fairly minor so far, mostly involving rudimentary things like access to the trade network or mail. But there are also training rooms with opponents of varying difficulty, which does sound decent at least on paper.

In general, there are some seeds of a good game in TOR. Some of the instances involve puzzles that are not gear-dependant at all, for example. Perhaps with the success of Legends of Grimrock some more puzzles will be introduced. A gradual move towards creating a more player-based economy with the introduction of rares is commendable, as is a greater emphasis on items without any value in combat.

P. S. The population has recovered somewhat, it would appear. There are currently two full servers, one of them with a 45-minute queue. Though I should note that the server on which I play, Shaltin Tunnels, actually grew in population with time while others declined.

Yeah, running into bunch of imps/reps and exploding into a cloud of green misty goo is fun. Also, the idea of news network is nice, and I was surprised when, after traveling from my ship to Fleet, I was scanned by a med droid, turned red (checked as "infected") and a squad of med troopers swooped on me from the roof gun blazing

That's why, although Imperial Agent was well-written enough and had decent drama, I couldn't stick it out all the way to 50. I quit back in February. If new uploads introduce some actual variety of gameplay besides treasure hunting and ship decorating (puzzles would be great!), then I might come back to finish a storyline or two. But what on earth is the point of playing a secret, stealthy agent versus a bang-bang bounty hunter if you're actively penalized for avoiding repetitious trash combat?

Go Warzones, sissy. Backstab squishy sages from stealth and skyrocket to 50.

God I fucking hate agents.

Aw man, that would require resubbing! But hey, if I resub, I'll definitely try that out. Knifing is what I'm good for.

Why are some of you assholes still playing this piece of shit?

I actually find parts of the game fun. Plus the game's decent story + clips for every quest made me identify with my main char more then any MMO has done in the past. Anyway, perhaps you should be more constructive and tell us what we assholes should be playing instead.
