SF6 Beta has been cracked on PC, there's a fully functional training mode and a patchwork "versus" mode (local 1v1) with all characters and stages.

Look forward to console peasants being destroyed day 1 with fully optimized combos. Fun

everything looks better after few hours of rendering in blender

anyways dataming shows there will be some sort of F2P version of the game, most likely only battlehub
tokens, tickets, "renting" of characters - probably testing them out before buying or something, a lot of mentions of free and premium

also online training mode and ai difficulty learning from replays

According to all the whining threads on the forum the f2p version is going to be called the Brazilian Fighters 6.

There appears to be a gratuitous amount of ass-jiggle physics on all the female characters. I wonder if this will be nerfed pre-release or if even Cammy is going to get this same treatment. I don't remember any of the coomer fighting games like DOA or Soul Calibur having this much outright ass jiggle.

It surprises me to see this level of coomer-bait in the same package as the ultra black homogay announcer, but I guess he's just a box to tick. He kinda reminds me of Whis or something.

Some developers are probably having fun messing up with the fighters polys. Game is being developed by a japanese staff.

They'll "fix" this, as they've done with the butt slap in the previous Street Fighter game.

Sheesh. I think Cammy might have been dethroned as the cameltoe queen.

Director of Street Fighter 6 says that the fighting game genre must expand beyond winning and losing to boom in society again

https://www.eventhubs.com/news/2023/feb/06/director-sf6-fgc-boom-society/

From here, Nakayama outlines how fighting games must expand beyond winning and losing. Losing can be very intimidating for casual players and newcomers, which is part of the reason why fighting games have such an intense barrier of entry.

Reading that, he’s just talking about single player. The wording is odd, (that’s probably down to the translation) but if you actually read the article it’s pretty clear he’s talking about there being more than winning and losing in multiplayer matches.

A better headline given what he’s saying in that article would be:

Director of Street Fighter 6 says that the fighting game genre must expand beyond multiplayer matches to boom in society again

And yeah. It does. For fighting games to be big again on consoles, they need single player content that’ll appeal to more than just hardcore fighting game fans. That or they need to be free-to-play; because when the buy-in for your game is nothing, (beside the price of whatever you’re playing it on) you’re going to have people try out your game.

Thanks for the clarification. Dishonest media pushing their narrative changing the word to whatever their want again.

Agreed. Fighting games are a genre I loved in the arcade days, but now, netcode isn't perfect so it loses that and either way, the genre really lost something since the arcade days. Besides, who wants to drop full AAA price on an arcade style fighter, outside of the hardcore niche? It feels like a rip off, whereas you'd probably spend more than that on the game when the barrier to entry was a quarter.

Personally, I can't believe how the fighting genre has devolved into something with very little flirtation now. In the 90's each "get in!" win moment could easily be met with another "oh shit!.." lose moment straight after, and visa versa. Now, it's usually just a combo fest.

It's a bit like watching a proper football match compared to watching a set of soccer players do street skills for a while. Things just got more boring.
