Make the Codex Great Again!
STASIS 1 ending made me depressed for a long time. I finally came out of rehab and will be trying STASIS 2 soon. Hope I don't have to see my case worker again :P

No promises...
This is probably my favorite story. Its also the first time working with an external author to refine my chicken scratch - and it's been a very rewarding experience.

Exciting news to share about STASIS: BONE TOTEM

Hello Adventurers,

Our team has been joined by J. Barton Mitchell from Night Rocket Productions! He is an award-winning, veteran audio producer and screenplay writer and has now written the screenplay for BONE TOTEM.

In addition, Jack has procured an incredible lineup of voice talent for BONE TOTEM, including professional SAG actors in live studio recording sessions. This setup is a new benchmark for the voices in our games. Night Rocket Productions has almost completed its work, and the results are stunning when combined with Mark Morgan's (STASIS, Fallout, Wasteland) emotive and dark soundtrack. We can't wait for you to hear it!

If you want to check out their work, Derelict/Fathom is incredible (You have to hear this): https://www.derelictpodcast.com/ (Side note - Season 2 of this is currently looking for funding: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/derelict-podcast-season-two#/ )

Writer/Editor, Olga Moskvina of Digimancy (formerly of ZA/UM, the studio behind Disco Elysium) has been lending a hand to edit the trove of BONE TOTEM's text. Olga has brought a poignant, delicate touch to some rather unsettling subjects. She has been a valuable asset, and we're confident that her contributions will enhance your player experience.

Chris has been pushing pixels, and we're creating over 30 minutes of rendered, computer-generated video to enhance gameplay. Mac, Charlie, and their Super-Toy, Moses, have never looked so incredible!

A significant milestone in the development of BONE TOTEM has also been reached - it is FULLY playable from start to end. Phew! Of course, it needs that extra love and attention, but it's satisfying, after this time, to finally play through a cohesive game.

We hope you'll get a chance to kick back and hang out with your family and friends. We wish you all the best this holiday season.

We are so grateful for allowing us to entertain you, and 2023 is going to be a blast with the release of Bone Totem!!

Best regards,

The Bros

We've actually been chatting about it...
We are going to be doing a console release of Bone Totem - and if it does well, a proper Stasis port becomes a reality.
Honestly I'd love to do one - just gotta justify the work! We experimented with using AI to upscale - but honestly I would prefer to actually recreate everything from scratch.

So... maybe?

Wasn't STASIS 1 good looking enough? What's there to remaster? Blackening the MC?
More seriously, I would love if a S1 remaster had a camera closer to the action, as IIRC the screens had the MC look tiny.
As for the sequel... I hope I have time to play by then. I can't wait to see what kind of horrible fates each characters will suffer for the ending.

i hope it would be a re-render / export of all the assets so things look nice and crisp on modern displays.

Theres a ton I'd love to do!
4k graphics - more zoomed up puzzles. Higher quality cinematics. More deaths.
There was an entire chapter that I had to cut - that I had the art, the writing, and most of the design done (it was the engineering section - had a space walk section where John has to turn off the gravity to get across a chasm, and he discovers how all the crew in the engineering secion resorted to cannibalism to survive) - that I'd love to put back in.
I'd keep the writing the same - because we have so many translations of the game, I would want to make sure they are still all available.
I'd probably want to re-record all the VO and do it much higher quality (not the acting, but the actual files) - cos I didnt really know what I was doing back then!

If I was gonna do it - I would make sure that even if you played Stasis before, it would be a hell of an experience for you to do again. :D

was stasis ever released for consoles? depending how BT / BD sell, you could have a business case for the remaster if it included console support

Na - it wasn't. So there is an entire market there for us to explore. Just need to have the time!
Desolation has done ok on consoles. It was more of a learning experience for us. I think that Bone Totem has a higher chance of being well received on consoles. We have an XBox dev kit, and have been working on controller support with our framework from the get go.

My god it feels like Beautiful Desolation just came out last year.

You are a real Überdeveloper, Pyke.
For me it feels like a lifetime ago!
Can't wait to take a dive, it looks gruesomely delicious.
Thanks! It's definitely our best game so far. It's all come together even better than we could have imagined. That said - it feels like a baby thats WAY past its due date, and now its just gnawing its way out of us.

STASIS 2 - Coming May 31

Hey everyone, I'm thrilled to announce that STASIS: BONE TOTEM, the latest installment in the STASIS anthology, is set to release on May 31st!

We did something different with Beautiful Desolation, but have now returned to our roots, and created a worthy sequel to STASIS.

What makes STASIS: BONE TOTEM so unique is its underwater setting, where players will follow the story of Mac and Charlie (and their cuddly 'super-toy,' Moses) - who scour the ocean for salvage. When they discover an abandoned oil rig in the Pacific Ocean, they uncover a secret that Cayne Corporation will do anything to keep hidden...

Truthfully, none of this would be possible without you. You guys brought the original game to life, and we are forever grateful for your support. We couldn't have made this game without you, and we want to thank each of you for your contributions that have allowed us to make 4 well-received games, so far.

For BONE TOTEM, we brought back Mark Morgan to compose the score, and we had J. Barton Mitchell, a Hollywood screenwriter, pen the screenplay. We also involved a professional studio, Night Rocket Productions, to manage the in-person acting and audio recording. All actors are seasoned TV and film professionals, and we couldn't be more excited to share their performances with you.

STASIS : BONE TOTEM will be available on PC, including Steam/Steam Deck, GOG, and EPIC. And with support for English, German, French, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Turkish, and Italian languages on launch. We're thrilled to make the game accessible to players all over the world.

So, to our original Kickstarter backers, thank you. Thank you for believing in us and for making STASIS a reality. We hope you enjoy this new adventure and that BONE TOTEM will exceed your expectations.

Thanks mate. :D Felt a little cheeky to do a Kickstarter update, but hell, we are small - we gotta use whatever resources we have!
That said, we do have something up our sleeves for the original Stasis backers - just gotta build the backend system!

Good God Pyke this looks as good heck, better than expected!! Your artistry never fails to amaze me. I haven't followed this closely but what's up with all the lines and dots on screen? Some sort of, God forbid, quest compass?! For me it distracts from the beautiful backgrounds. Can they be toggled on/off or are they absolutely necessary for you to progress forward?

mindx2 raises a fair point, in that enabling those wouldn’t have been my choice for a trailer. I know what they are and that they can be turned off, but people who don’t follow the game….
