Sonic fandom is one of a kind, being extra-autistic and manic. As well as their detractors. Then again, after seeing how bad Archie comics got, it's not a surprise this happens.
American comics really get bad indeed, and the Tangle + bargain bin OC donutsteel Sniper Wolf is inane, and worst of all, pointless, as the new comics have strict guidelines that state that the main characters can't get major changes in any way, so any OC characters could die an horrible way and no-one of the main cast would care. Hell, the new comics begin with a zombie arc in a children's book, and it has to be retconned because it literally destroyed the setting otherwise. At least the classic American Sonic comics had a charm of its own due how insane they were, with a character that was literally Pepe le Pew with sneakers, and a pedobear to boot. However, the OC meta-clones of Sonic and Tails (Surge and Kit-something), especially the bargain bin copy of Tails with water powers, might have some promise, as I'm not sure what you can do with these two, if anything at all.
Still, none of the comics' drama matter for the games or the shows, although I would love it if the incoming Knuckles series uses even if it's a quarter of the Archie comics' content. Seeing normies being exposed to that will be amazing.
The two cartoon examples you mention are either Cal Arts or Cal Arts-adjacent, they are bad by default with few exceptions.
It's funny that Mario's stories are even crazier and they're less messy and with less drama.
I would be okay if future games remembered there are more characters than Sonic, so they make a Tails Adventure 2, a Knuckles game, or whatever. Still, Sanic has the issue that the cast is bloated and some characters are borderline unusable: Rouge pretty much exists as fanservice and to create furries and could be replaced with minor changes. Shadow is furry Vegeta that should have been killed for real a long time ago. The killer robot is okay, but having him show up means you have to to introduce the last two.
I wish a game or show was made inspired by the British comics. They were free of drama and inanity.
There's a 0% chance that next Sanic game will care about all of that, as they're all stand-alone and what happens in one is quickly forgotten in the following one, even when it shouldn't. Everyone though Infinite and/or the plot-rock would show up in Frontiers... And they don't IIRC. Sonic Boom was the best of modern Sonic stuff cartoons, and it's basically Seinfield 1.5 that doesn't take itself seriously, things are that bad.ut in Frontiers? Every single fucking game, including what were up to this point considered to be spinoffs, are brought in. So now we have to believe that Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Riders, Sonic Lost World, Sonic fucking BOOM, AND the fanfiction American comic books (with all their yuribaiting filth, with the NUMBER ONE yuribait character Tangle being mentioned by name) all exist in the same continuity. So now the series's "overarching story" is even more of an explosive catastrophe than it was before.

Hey, not-Terminator Sonic was okay, shame that it was unfinished. No idea about Sonic Underground. Sonic Netflix is terrible but that was to be expected.EVERY American that has ever written for this series has been a complete disaster. I don't want anyone with any ties to those garbage fucking comic books having anything to do with the series. The comic books (and all things connected to them such as the Saturday morning cartoon) are the biggest cancer on Sonic's legacy and fanbase. Everyone involved are furry manchildren who try and force their own trite thoughts and opinions into a series made with children in mind. It's just like those shitty American cartoons like Adventure Time or Star vs. the Forces of Evil. It makes me cringe.

This sonic era is gonna deliver better quality games, but the writing will become less messy, derivative and uninspired.
