It's not really fun to have to restart the client 10 times because the game refuses to log into the chat service, only to find out that the other Codexers have just started a game. Especially when in between another tries I find out there are no problems with logging into my brother's account from the same PC. This shit happens to me all the time. :?

Yeah, I was sure they were in group B, but I must have confused them with other team. Oh well, go Dignitas!

Can somebody explain what is so great in LoL?

I thought it was okay game to be played casually with friends but some people seem to take it so fucking seriously.

You have 1 character who has 4 skills that have average cooldown of 10-30 seconds so it's not very micro intensive and the "strategic" elements dont seem very deep.

I have a friend who plays it all day every day and all he does is scream on mumble how shitty the game is and yet he keeps playing it and telling me how hardcore the game is.

Can't really explain that in 4 seconds. Suffice it to say, I don't think a turn-based dungeon crawler would make for a very good competitive entertainment game. League of Legends has simple basic mechanics (a requirement for any game - computer or otherwise - that wants to do well on the competitive scene). But, like almost anything that ends up being competitive, there is a lot more to it under the hood.

League of Legends is really fun to play and very fun to watch. The last bit is mostly true because it is easy to understand and one can get a pretty good grasp of the intricacies of professional play by just watching a couple of tournaments. It's really not a lot more complicated than that.

Your friend is a dick though. There is nothing hardcore about LoL. It is its simplicity and broad availability that made it popular, the very anti-thesis of hardcore.

By the way, is there a way to transfer my account to EU to play with you guys? The only reason I play Dota is to play with friends, I have pretty much zero interest in solo'ing except to mess around with heroes vs the AI. I've sunk some cash into my US account so I'd rather not have to write that all off.

Dont think so, only euro servers can switch.

Watched only last game when i got from work, Dignitas vs Fnatic. 38-12 in kills for Fnatic, it was sad seeing dudes that won that IGN tourney getting roflstomped.
Swain+Morgana+Kog=nasty combination

Oh, and to whoever said "lololol pros are not that pro", check their creeping in each and every game and come back when you have the same amounts. Also, play some 5v5 ranked with 4 mates and realize how hard it is.

Done! You've seen me play morg, irelia or akali before. ;)

Done! It's the only way to play imo. Was 12 ELO from silver badge in premade 5v5 for S1 :(

In that case you should know full well that the pro teams would rip our teams apart :P

Also, I was 8 ELO from silver badge with my team last time, so welcome to the club

It is the best way to play LoL, no dice.

Herpderp, this is something that comes off as a habit after you play for God knows how long.

Common sense, however, is not something habitual.

Your claim was that the difference between your level of skill and that of pros was not far removed. If anything in this discussion is herp-derp, it is certainly that. CS is one aspect, but I pointed out another; go play 5v5 ranked and see how far you guys get. You have the level, there's nothing stopping you.

I'm sure it's the same in LoL, but it amazes me when someone is pushing a lane by themselves, all enemies are very obviously missing from all lanes, they get ganked and die instantly to a 5 person gank, and then complain "NOBODY CALLED MISSING"
how fucking retarded are you that you're pushing alone when all the enemies are missing? it's so damn obvious when you're ganked, most of the time.

In dota it's a bigger deal, because if you die not only does your killer and anyone in the vicinity get gold, you also lose gold. It's one of the reasons dota is a lot less forgiving than LoL.

I was raged at the by our resident potatos for not calling SS the other day. They went on to laugh when I said "well, you have a mini-map guys."

Yeah, calling SS is a courtesy, you should always have an eye on the mini-map, especially when you're in an exposed position. Map-awareness is everybody's responsibility.

Why do you lie? If 'raged at' was 'it would be p. cool if you reported missing d00dz' and 'laugh' was 'lololo you might have a point :M ' this could be true, but otherwise

bullshit

lies

Yes, it is. However when you see someone is missing and one of your teammates is overextending it's good to call miss. It takes you less than 2 seconds, even less when you are on TS with your premade.
Even pros call misses, why shouldn't you?

Aw come on bro. Would "scolded" be a more fitting word in your opinion? ;)

Bottom line was you told me to remember to call SS in the future, I pointed out you had a mini-map and you made fun of poor little Grunker for being a n00b

Leading back to my favorite topic, I love when you DO do that, and they don't fucking listen. Normally when I'm playing with my friends we're on Skype, and honestly one of my friends is just kind of retarded. He will not listen, whatsoever, but then when he feeds he will rage at everyone else.

When you tell a derptard to get back, and they don't listen and then feed, and you say "why didn't you go B when we all told you??" the answer is almost always "STFU NOOB"

An intresting thing I've seen that pros do differently (and me! it's nice to see my thinking is correct on this) from random noobs is how they often ignore the enemy, even turning around during a smaller skrimish, to last hit a low hp creep for that extra cash, whereas most people go apeshit crazy trying to kill an enemy as soon as they see one.

And about ss, some people call it TOO much, whenever hey lose vision.

Concentrate on playing ffs!
I only call it when I see someone actually going in the direction of a team mate or recalls.

If you are not a pro, do not do that. I cannot fucking tell you how pissed off I get when people stop to kill creeps during a team fight. If you are not a pro who knows exactly what he is doing, 100% of the time you're fucking your own team. Contrary to what I said before, I don't rage very much in-game, it's usually one of my friends (who is a slightly better player than I am) who does, but if you stop to kill creeps during a team fight I will flip out. Very similar for someone who is neutral creeping when there is very obviously a team fight in the near future.

I'm angry, 2 games I played today with my friends we ended up losing 100% because of dipstick clueless teammates. Dunno if any of you know Dota, had one guy playing Tidehunter. He is a very simple hero who has a HUGE aoe stun ult and a slow-nuke. He's really fucking simple to play, you go in and ult and let your team clean the fuck up, but this guy got terribad items and would always ALWAYS run away instead of fight. We needed him to initiate but he never ever would, he would run behind all of us. I just hate it when one retard ruins the game for your whole team.

Only one thing worse than a feeder: Someone who plays extremely defensively. You lose like you do when you have a feeder it just takes forever instead.

I obviously didnt mean during team fights, just smaller skirmishs ie pokes during laning phase. Or if we fought 3v3 and we kill one of them and leave 2 of them fleeing, Ill turn around and clear their minion wave so we can push. Dont need all 3 of us chasing, and often not catching up which just means they wasted their time.

I dont play Dota but when is Dota2 coming out? Oddly enough their homepage say nothing about it.
