Instead of edgy 1 liners is it hard to answer if a game is made on an in-house engine or not ?
Unity, there's talk about it a couple of post above your question.

Just watched a couple of older videos of the backer beta. I'm no fan of pixel art, but that aside it looks promising, rtwp or not.

Same thing with the graphics. There is good pixel art and then there is just throwing up on the monitor and creating a migraine inducing mess. Again, we loved those old games despite such graphics. I don't wanna squint and tilt my head to understand what I am looking at when I shouldn't have to in the 21st century.

Anyway, this game reminds me of those hipsters who take their fucking typewriters to Starbucks or psuedo-architects adding Doric columns to new buildings. Inconvenience for the sake of it. 20 years too late.

Aside from pixel art as an aesthetic choice, low-density sprites are also much easier for a very small team to produce than high-res graphics.

It's kind of like, your artwork options are these: high resolution, quality, and quantity. You only get to pick two, or you can't stay within a reasonable timeframe. "Quantity" is kind of dictated by the scope of the game (and/or people's tolerance for sameness), and quality will necessarily decrease as quantity increases, unless you place some kind of artificial constraint on the work to be done, or until time stretches on to infinity and you find yourself trying to get around the limits of human mortality by convincing yourself you aren't actually human at all, but some sort of… neanderthal…

Anyway, a constraint like keeping the pixel density low enables you to consistently produce the highest quality artwork you're capable of, without getting too bogged down by it.

It's an obscure indie game, I don't think it's going to get a bunch of release day reviews. Maybe Richard Cobbett will do a review of it for RPS or Eurogamer at some point.

Yeah, Whalenought_Joe, you should definitely (try to) contact TotalBiscuit, as well as other popular youtubers, like Dodger (https://www.youtube.com/user/PressHeartToContinue), Crendor (https://www.youtube.com/user/wowcrendor), Jesse Cox (https://www.youtube.com/user/OMFGcata), Gopher (https://www.youtube.com/user/GophersVids) or Sam Thorne (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheStrippin) - and many others, there are hordes of them out there. They might bring you sales even by mentioning the game.

EDIT: release date tomorrow!

So its finally here....release day in a few hours....can't believe I didnt flinched and got the beta ....purchasing a soon as the game hit Steam. Really looking foward to this . and its better be gud! ( no pressure , but I intend to go through my week end with minimal sleep hours/hygiene/food cuz im too hook up on my new PC game, again no pressure )

Just showed this to a buddy who fetish game was BG2 when he was younger , thats all it took to sell the game to him ( Would be nice if everyyone was like that . huh? )

On a more serious note , Good luck with release , hoping everything will go fine with not much bugs to squash will arise on 1.0
I really hope your game can stand tall through the various release that we had in the last weeks/months and gives you ressources and willpower to make another game like this.

Yup on the 28th. Im guessing it will be available on at 9 AM or 4 PM ( Currently 4h20 AM here in Canada )

It's usually available in the afternoon for me ( new release ) , PoE and Chroma Squad being my examples here. Anyone with a bit more knowledge than me on this?

Everyone will be getting an email tonight or tomorrow morning with their game/keys. GOG releases ~5:00 am and Steam at 2:00 pm, so you’ll be able to download it then.
I guess GOG it is then..
