Moaning about DLC is an argument about 7 years out of date, an argument that ended when bethesderp sold 60 million dollars worth of horse armour.

Actually, I think since many years ago, especially along with the downfall of arcade market and Sega's own console, I thought Sega was supposed to crumble, not unlike Sony? i.e. have products, have fame, but no profit at all, and would die slowly. It seems Total War really helped them to survive.
Football Manager sells even better and it's a yearly product.

They were already heading that way with Retribution.

Still hard to see how that makes Sega good publisher for Relic(or any game). They killed modding in TW to sell blood sprites for 1.99$

They could have done a lot worse than Sega. "Company of Heroes Online" browser game with micropayments, published by Ubisoft.

That sounds a lot like company of heroes online

 I should have known. I really should have known.

The thing is though that acquiring Relic may not mean they got Homeworld as well. They could have gotten it but then again it may be in the pile of IPs still tied to THQ like Darksiders. And they're going to try to find buyers for them over the next few weeks probably as those were not yet auctioned off.

Anyway I'm cool with Sega, especially as they keep releasing (even though I never play) sweet, moe, kawaii Hatsune Miku games. I love Miku ^_^

Sega didn't survived thanks to the Total War they survived thanks to the Sammy merger and their pachinko money.
They could literally throw hundreds of million dollars to Yu Suzuki and make Shenmue 3(pretty please:love:) happen if they wanted and even if it flopped like the first two they'd still go strong thanks to Sammy money.
However it seems like Sammy wants some steadiness on their Gaming department before they cough up big budgets so they are only going forward with their Yakuza series(5 is the best selling entry yet),Sonic games on various platforms(all 7th generation Sonic games made some good money),yearly Football Menager games and Total War series(every Total War game since acquiring Creative Assembly exceeded their expectations so they ok'd a budget increase for Rome 2) and newly acquired Relic's titles in the future and of course Aliens franchise(and maybe a new VF game in the future for arcades and 8th generation consoles).

About Homeworld there is going to be a new hearing for THQ's legacy ip's later this month they could acquire Homeworld ip and make new entries but they have to get Interplay's permission to release old titles on GoG(rights are scattered just like System Shock's two way).

Also guys there is a campaign going on at İndieGoGo for acquiring Homeworld ip and releasing them on GoG,don't fall for it,it's a scam as i said republishing old games isn't up to who owns the ip.

SEGA on their Relic acquisition

SEGA already owns three development companies in the U.S. and Europe, and is progressing to support compatibility with the rapidly expanding online games field, such as PC online games, smartphone games and social games. As a result of the THQ Canada acquisition, SEGA will further advance the provision of various appealing entertainment contents by utilizing THQ Canada’s high-end content development capabilities and accumulated development know-how, and increase SEGA’s presence in the PC online game market.

Are they turning Relic into a fucking casual online popamole shop or what?

If they did they would say social games outright as that's the buzzword that makes the investor's cock hard (unless Zynga managed to leave a bad taste in their mouths already). Then again this does not exclude F2P pay2win or other nonsense.

Relic wouldn't have time to work on Homeworld 3 in between shitting out iterations of Company of Heroes and Dawn of War. Fixing up Space Marine was a waste of that studios talents.
