yes i do have ctds , but not frequently , most often while quicksaving or fast travelling. I am not even looking for solutions, what could be the cause anyway? The pc is new with good hardware, like 30X the power of an xbox, and a clean seven ultimate install.
According forums it do crash on consoles too.

Hoopy i dont know whats wrong with your game, i saw one dragon attacking another village randomly, people stopping their activities and reacting to it unlike oblivion where the gate of hells diddnt bother anyone, childrens running away, guards helping ,really awesome. If in overall the game is classic and not ground breaking, they took some impressive steps.
The dragon was flying circling, then landing on roofs and shooting fireballs at guards, i think they really implemented them well, yes its one of the "wow moment" in a rpg.Sometimes they just circle around you, they obviously cant land into forest, or just ignore you too. The giant are the second best creatures, their attack sending you into the sky is just hilarious.

The game is Oblivion 2 (...) Probably worse as an RPG, but as a game, it's better.

Out of curiosity, I found this statement quite confusing yet profoundly accurate for the new type of "RPG" games where subtraction of "RPG" elements made them better... actually.

Ps. Where were drawn a lines between an RPG and a game...

Maybe it's because I tried the demo.

Maybe it's because I had a 360 controller connected until I realized and unplugged it.

But what the fuck is up with these menus? I felt like I was playing Dwarf Fortress for the first time all over again. Did anybody involved in the production of this game even try to play it with a keyboard? I made it to the first fight and I don't think I'm going back for more.

It's a sign that RPGs are well and truly dead in the mainstream. As I've said before we're in the post-decline era, where AAA RPGs are action games with a few stats and dialogue selections. During the decline phase, the games were still RPGs but they became more and more streamlined to the point where the stripped-down RPG mechanics weren't contributing anything to the game and were in fact hindering the gameplay. Once the developers realized that action games with fluff was what they were actually aiming for, they could butcher the remaining RPG aspects accordingly, and voilà -- the Decline has taken place and we are on the other side of the looking glass.

The best we can hope for from big budget RPGs today is okay action, not too much herp derpness and some C&C. Maybe Skyrim fits the bill, though I'm not interested.

I just wish they stopped calling them rpgs.
Although it sure sounds better than "open world sandbox hiking action adventure".

I think this thing was discussed a lot even when Oblivion came out, but it almost feels like the (bad) RPG mechanics are sort of an excuse for the bad combat and vice versa. The standard of combat isn't very high in first-person RPGs, but on the other hand there are rarely deep RPG mechanics in action games either. Oh wait, VD already said it:

At that pivotal moment the design for Oblivion was born: an action game for casual gamers sold as an RPG! Brilliant! Why brilliant? Well, any complaints about the action elements would be met with "It's an RPG! Duh!", while any complaints about the RPG elements would be met with "It's not your grandpa's RPG with die rolls and skill checks. It's an action game! For next generation! Duh!"

Morrowind's or even Daggerfall's combat wasn't great, but I could forgive that because being victorious in combat was mostly the result of character skill and there were actual RPG mechanics involved. Oblivion had slightly better combat but it became tedious as fuck really fast because both the RPG mechanics and the combat mechanics were very simple and shallow. It was a really bad compromise, especially in a game so heavily focused on combat.

The next step would be to fully concentrate on the combat system and streamline everything unnecessary (like skills) out of the game. I'd love it if Bethesda just dropped the RPG elements entirely and made an open-world action-adventure game with Blade of Darkness combat and maybe some magic.

(I wonder if that type of combat could be succesfully combined with some actual RPG mechanics, though. Would be majestic as hell.)

I'm into the game 1 hour at first dungeon and i find it more enjoyable than i did with Oblivion Fallout 3 or New Vegas. If this continues it might even have the potential for a few playthroughs, and the only games so far that i replayed 7 times were fallout 1 baldurs gate series and icewind dales.
It kind of reminds me of Icewind Dale but in FPP.

If Skyrim had the option for turn based combat allowing more tactical use of spells it would be a damn good game.
About the inventory, it is dumbed down but my only real gripe with it, is that, that there is no character screen so you don't see the stuff equipped on your character - this increases the time you spend in your inventory checking if you have everything correctly on your character.

My score so far 7/10 good for what it is, not a real RPG but a good game nevertheless, with all the bugs fixed year from now on and expansions and dlcs it will be surely worth a buy as a GOTY edition for 20$

Comme on nigga, it's good TES game, best since Morrowind but it's not RPG at all unlike FNV... decent action game which looks and plays shittier than both TW2 and ME2 thanks to dated engine and horrible UI.
The Legion is back in the game and this time they're X-treme in MAJESTIC way: The game starts with them literaly decapitating the entire Rebelion... and excecuting you as person who got into wrong place and moment. Massive :incline: over the Emperor giving his Crown Jewels to some stinking prisoner.
The world is grimdark and bleak again, Nords as drunk and dirty barbarian snownigger nazis (Skyrim For Nords! Ice Powa) as they should be since they they're based on Germaniacs, Elves are bunch of eugenistic assholes combined with Cleve race superiority complex; they have Chink attitude toward '' lesser races' especilay Moonkeights... loved to show the Justicars that culture is more powerful than pure blood with my gladius/spatha... Empire properly Catholic (which mean Universalistic), Fascist and Militaristic as true Rome copy :salute:. And no fucking flower smelling guilt high hippie liberals in entire game.... All the factions were ready to enrich their oponents with steel, fire and blood. :smug:

OK back to swordraping the 'freedomfighters'' with my Legion bros.

And that's inacurrate, you could have said the same thing about ultima underworld, and before it from dungeon master, an action game for casual gamers sold as rpg. remember back then it was much more simplified than other fantasy rpgs U6 and U7,magic candle, wizardry you even had to take notes and type text yourself in u6 if i remember well.3D first person action with realistic physics, no more party, the outrage! But no one was screaming decline as the other subgenre top view rpg, turn based blobs etc were still representated, they are completely dead today.
There's no decline at all in the underworld subgenre, hell theres even massive incline recently , just play dark souls. No skyrim is the true heir of the sub genre and his ancestors underworld, arena, daggerfall and morrowind could be proud of it.It can be called a rpg theres as many features justifying it.Theres character development , its missing str dex etc , but the feat systems is working good. Theres dialogue options you can access with high eloquence, and above all you have all the text wich is great today compared to bioware infamous dialogue wheel. You dont realize how much they improved compare to oblivion, they deserves praises this time.

My first random dragon just circled in the sky even though me and a guard were right out in the open. Since I wasn't able to hit it with my arrows, I just let it be. The second random dragon also continued just circling around, doing nothing. It was only after five minutes or something that it finally swooped down and roasted me. So I really thought dragons don't actually do anything. Even the first scripted dragon encounter was anti-climactic, I lost almost no health.

Anyone got any problems with crashing/freezing?
Fist 5 hours no crashing, after that it's on a not so frequent basis aka once every couple of hours. What's bugging me though is every 15-20 seconds the game just freezes for about 3 seconds before I can continue again. It happens whenever 'something' is about to happen, like a killing blow or popping in more textures; does anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT - Just had to turn off the anti-virus

Additionally, has anyone had this bug? It's a game breaker.

Given how often you have to go into spells/favourites as a mage, combat may as well be turn-based

If someone patched/modded in hotkeys - say 1-9 to equip right hand, shift+1-9 to equip left hand - for spells/weapons/potions I'd probably change my opinion of the game from "mediocre, but it has its moments" to "actually pretty ok"

The game already has hotkeys.

I got a majestic glitch. The bridge over to the city in the east had a giant hole making it impossible to pass it. It did have a couple of tables out in the middle of it though.

(it became normal after a reload.)

This is the reason I won't even pick the game up for a few months. It's a new game. It's a huge game. Experience tells me that it's bound to be filled with bugs and other annoying issues that will dent the entertainment value I'll be getting out of it.

Plus... in a few months there will probably be some interesting MODs anyway.

For some reason, female orcs use the same helmet model as male characters, looks goofy as fuck...

Anyway, uninstalled it. I'm not in the mood to play this sort of game...got a bunch of uni shit to do, the last thing I need is a video game that feels like a chore.
