No worries. At some point Roguey will show up to post about some Awesomepiece of insider information which implies that Mark Morgan has gotten fat and hasn't gotten laid in 4 years which will impact the quality of his material especially considering he once hung out with Brian Fargo's younger cousin who used to drink too much and had a very negative influence on Morgan which is why he accidentally aped 5 seconds of an Aphex Twin song well not really but it sort of sounds like that. And then Surf Solar will make an appearance just to fart in everybody's mouth while FeeltheRads will argue for ten pages with somebody who nobody else is paying attention to.

And why do you have Leibniz as your avatar?

It's a decent piece. Like everything we've seen or heard of the game so far, it's not particularly good or bad. Definitely fits in well with the concept art and portraits we've seen so far. The screenshot, not so much.

I'm with this Leibniz guy when it comes to FO1/2 music. Not bad ambience but I prefer music with melodies I can remember.

Ingame music is supposed to be memorable?

Who said anything about "boring"?

I did.

A little too ambient for my tastes

Christ. Not like it's Thomas Koner or something. You don't want the game's music to distract you, that's the whole goddamn point.

Because music can only be either boring or distracting, nothing in between.

Why does Morgan make you sad, Weierstra?

He doesn't, there's a good track by him on page 2.

And why do you have Leibniz as your avatar?

Because he's not Weierstrass.

Ingame music is supposed to be memorable?

Yes.

I thought it was supposed to compliment the gameplay in an unintrusive manner, thus rendering them forgotten (unless tracked down and listened to outside the game). This may be due to my associating "memorable" with "epic."

You're seeing a facet of the diamond of truth, but only one of many. Someone looking at that diamond from a different angle may not even realize it's the same diamond.

Then the other is clearly wrong and must be banished -- with fire and iron, if necessary.

Game music doesn't "have" to be anything, it depends on what the developers want for a certain moment in the game. Sometimes you want a discreet ("boring") track that doesn't get in the way but helps with the atmosphere, even if the song itself will probably be forgotten as soon as you turn off the game.

And sometimes you want it so persistent and catchy that it erodes the sanity of your audience at a rate proportional to the years they've existed beyond its year of release.

Indeed. Your very posting itself. A little too ambient for my tastes.

It's also interesting how you sucked the dick of your own post just long enough to miss my point.

I don't know what your point it, so yes, I did miss it. I still think music can be less ambient, more interesting and more memorable than this sample, without being "distracting".
