Imagine if someone went back in time to like 2004, or 2005, and blew up Bethesda Game Studios.
We would've probably colonised Mars by now and made cold fusion a reality.
Morrowind I'd sooner imagine a small Nerevar action adventure prequel (maybe using the jedi fallen order template) to test the waters
Let me answer your question with a question. How much do you think Bethesda is relying on a jackass who identifies himself as CrunchyHemorrhoids as their revenue source?Where would the money even be in an oblivion remake? There's nothing in there worth preserving/salvaging. I'd sooner buy a Daggerfall remake rumor.
I expect the Oblivion remaster to come first because they'd probably want to "modernize" the gameplay and Oblivion's is similar enough to Skyrim that they could just bundle a mod that gives +5 to every skill on level up to compensate for the level scaling rat race. You'd kinda expect them to do something with Morrowind first, albeit that's much more likely to be a full blown remake. Just seems like the people that want to play Oblivion still can on the platforms that matter to Microsoft (PC and Xbox)."Could be a remaster released next year or full remake for release on early 2025" is too vague. Of course Bethesda has discussed this internally and other studios have probably approached them, but this sounds more like extremely early plans than a leak.
Technically you can play it on PS5, but it's streamed and missing the Shivering Isles... but Bethesda's parent company probably doesn't care much about that.

A cheap "remaster"/port would make more sense than a full on remake as the latter wouldn't be any cheaper than simply remaking Skyrim. It would be part of MS wanting to make sure "their" hits/classics were still available for sale on the most popular consoles (nintendo & playstation) as those small sales can add up over time and ports of FO3 and FONV would soon follow.I expect the Oblivion remaster to come first because they'd probably want to "modernize" the gameplay and Oblivion's is similar enough to Skyrim that they could just bundle a mod that gives +5 to every skill on level up to compensate for the level scaling rat race.
It could also be done in time to raise some development money for the next elder scrolls, that will probably sell faster than fresh sweetrolls in the vault cafeteria (that's a Fallout reference for you non-gamers out there ) and milk as much as Skyrim.A cheap "remaster"/port would make more sense than a full on remake as the latter wouldn't be any cheaper than simply remaking Skyrim. I was referring to your question about where the money would be in an Oblivion remake. Whatever your personal feelings about the game, if you don't see that as easy fucking money, then you're fucking retarded.
The dude who played Oblivion so much he got held back 20 years in school. Then some kid is going to say in school, "Man, I sure love Oblivion," but his smart friend will say, "Nigga, you don't even remember the original Oblivion. You suck."
Ironic really, because it also got a ton of people curious about PC gaming. So that leaves Oblivion, which is old enough to warrant that treatment, it's not as fresh in people's minds as Skyrim is, yet it was very popular/successful its day - it came out at the beggining of the PS3/Xbox and before of those systems big, dumb and hyped blockbusters, so for nearly a year it was the "premier next-gen gaming experience"; it essentially dethroned jRPG's as the kings of the console role-playing gaming genre and ushered in the dominance of wRPG's outside the PC; as a major 7th gen console game, it is bound to be remembered by at least the oldest of the zoomer generation - and lastly it's not a niche title for the series

Why remake Oblivion (generic European medieval fantasy) first instead of Morrowind (unique setting) I wonder? Maybe Morrowind is next??
A remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is in development at Virtuos Games
An unexpected leak from a verified and reliable source suggests Virtuos Games is reviving Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for modern consoles.
While The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the best-selling game in the franchise (and one of the best-selling single-player titles of all time), The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion holds a special place in the hearts of long-time fans. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged too well. Unless heavily modified, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion doesn't hold up compared to Skyrim.
Thankfully, Virtuos Games is working on a way to fix this.
Don't even try looking for this leak online - it has since been taken down.
According to a since-deleted post by a since-deleted user, Virtuos Games is working on five different projects, arguably the biggest of which is project "Altar", which they're describing as a "remaster/remake of Oblivion." According to the source, it's still unclear if it's going to be a full remake but the development team uses a pairing system "using both an Unreal Engine 5 project, and the old Oblivion one." The user, who claims to work for Virtuos Games Paris, says that the European studio is in charge of the project but Black Shamrock is helping the studio "for the art."
The user believes that the remaster/remake will be out before next year ends or by early 2025, "depending mostly on if it's a remake or remaster."
Interestingly, fans are working on a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in Skyrim's in-game engine, which is scheduled to come out in 2025 after spending more than a decade in development.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was ahead of its time even though time has done it dirty.
While we'd recommend that you take most leaks with a grain of salt, a mod for the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit verified the information of the source, proving that he's a former employee of Virtuos Games.
Remakes aren't Bethesda Softworks or Bethesda Game Studios' usual MO. In fact, outside of the multiple re-releases and ports of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Bethesda hasn't done a remake of an older title since, well, forever. Then again, it still isn't technically working on one - the development has been outsourced to Virtuos Games.
It's unclear if this project started development before or after Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media since Bethesda would still have to green-light the project since it owns the IP.

Why do they always have to go after the classics?
