Don’t see the reason it wouldn’t work in a traditional RPG
Other than being a purely combat based mechanic? :M

Traditional RPGs have plenty of combat based mechanics? Or did I miss your joke?
Wasn't joking(much), just a thought that traditional rpgs ought to have more than combat so what do the brave diplomats do for masteries.

Skill system solves that, no? Obviously would only work in a fairly combat-focused RPG

I’d love to see a mastery-like system in an RPG with mastery drops from enemies etc. Don’t see the reason it wouldn’t work in a traditional RPG.
A drum I've been banging around here for a long time is why western devs don't learn from the more innovative JRPG systems. Every goddamn game is a diablo 2 skill tree or a perk list. I'd love to see more systems like this beyond just regular equipment drops or the all-encompassing XP bar.

They've stated they won't be working on this game for the foreseeable future at all.
Wait, so is this game finally "done"? The reason I 'abandoned' it was that it kept getting new systems added every 3 days for 22 years. Once it became "oh yeah it's also the entire Pokemon series except way better .. as side content" I didn't know what the fuck I was even playing any more.

Yeah it’s done as in they stopped working on it. The story was never going anywhere and the gameplay was arguably complete about 2 years before they stopped :P

But as far as playing safe in the knowledge that there’s no more content coming, it’s done.

Thanks for the review, Grunker .
This game was already on my wishlist, but the article reinforced my view that I want to buy it, and then longingly look at it in my Steam library while never having enough time to actually play it.
