I still haven't finished this. Looking back, RE7 was way better if you ask me. That actually felt like oldschool Resi Evil in first person. RE8 never gave me that feeling. The upcoming release of 4 just made me randomly think of this.
I remember you buying RE8 for full price on release just to spite me. Good to know you never even finished it. I was right and you were wrong.

Yup, I bought it just to spite some virgin nerd who has nothing better to do than whine about games he doesn't like 24/7. Totally had nothing to do with me being a huge Resident Evil fan.

Real Resident Evil fans don't buy and then shill fake RE games like Village or RE4. You don't even know what Resident Evil is anymore, and neither does Crapcom. Yet still you are there Day 1 to wipe their ass after they're done crapping out their next sloppy turd.

There hasn't been a real Resident Evil game since 2002. RE7, RE2R, RE3R, Village, and now RE4R are all the exact same game I'm not even joking just the way they handle and play, it doesn't matter if it's in 1st or 3rd person it's the exact same experience over and over again with a different coat of paint and a few new assets here and there. Crapcom wouldn't touch fixed camera mode with a 10ft pole because they were terrified it would alienate the RE4 fans and they were right. RE4 fans like yourself have taken over the entire RE franchise and as a result nearly every new iteration of RE is just the RE4 formula over and over again until the end of time. And yet you call yourself a huge fan of Resident Evil. I think it's time you start being honest with yourself!

I'll one up his cloud-yelling. For me, the last "real" Resident Evil game was Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999). Then there was endless shitty spinoffs (Code Veronica/Dead Aim/Zero and so on), brilliant action-horror games (RE4, 5), garbage action-horror games (e.g 6) and mediocre to terrible remakes. Good thing I need not rely on just one series for action horror or survival horror, as there's plenty incline out there. I have no need for this declined series and haven't in decades, except to return to the classics one of these days.

Just let us have both cameras by tapping the R3 button or whatever it would be on a keyboard, like in MGS3 Subsistence. Fully rendered environments instead of pre-rendered backgrounds. Not sure how you would do combat in a way that younger players wouldn't reject, though. Maybe a lock-on system in the fixed cam mode where different areas of the enemy are circled depending on where you move the stick, so a more precise version of classic RE. Would have to be stop and shoot in the fixed cam mode. Panning the camera would be possible, but limited depending on the environment. The fully rotational cam mode would need to have poor weapon accuracy when moving, to keep the fixed cam mode from becoming too difficult (since balancing would be the same in both modes).

I'm just sick of nearly every game being in either first-person view or over-the-shoulder. Fixed cams can be super immersive, and I've been surprised by how some developers have implemented it in environments that you would think would be too large and complex for it. There's a lot you can do.

It's not the developers fault. It never has been.

This is what the vast majority of players wanted and have been asking for and Crapcom is delivering. It's why nobody else gave a shit when RE2 Remake was unveiled as a 3rd person action shooter and if you expressed your disappointment about it in any corner of the internet you were met with an avalanche of responses calling you an old boomer and telling you that the original fixed camera style is old and irrelevant. Despite the fact that 3rd person shooter games are just as old and are 100 times more played out.

How many more 3rd person action shooter Resident Evil games do we honestly need before RE goes back to it's roots? And don't tell me that RE7 and RE2 Remake already did. That is BULLSHIT!

Finished this myself last week, good game but not a great game. Minor spoilers ahead.

Loved the starting section all the way up to the first boss. Awesome atmosphere and aesthetic, great balance between all it's combat components, story had enough hooks to keep me invested. The boss was shit though, more circling round something to win, and it had inconsistent rules too.

Then we hit a big fucking dip with a ton of bullshit looting/exploring on offer and the second bosses section which had fuck all gunplay. Dull. It was atmospheric, but all together this section of the game just felt badly paced. I appreciate a break, I don't need one which lasts several hours though.

Then we get the third bosses area which is OK, but a bit too QTE-like for my tastes. The boss was a fun fight, but also very easy and beaten on my first attempt.

A return to form for the Fortress though. Entering that had some great intense sections and the area itself was pretty cool, albeit a bit bloated. Again, the boss from that section sucked though.

And of course they then throw in this bullshit hour-ish long section where you can't save and which changes up the rues from earlier in the game to devalue everything somewhat. Kinda sucks. As does the fact that the last boss feels completely shoe-horned into the game, probably worse than the Wild Hunt.

Glad I played it, honestly thought t was going to be a top tier games at the start, but it's disjointed as fuck and felt like 5 games in one tbh. They really should make a vampire based gothic style RE game based on the first section. That part was superb.

:5/5: :2.5/5:

Nah it needs to make the popamole button widely available for all members, so it can be given to most of the decline cucks in this thread.

"Whaa this needs modern controls, like TLOU2!"

Missing the point

"how hard would it be to give it a dodge button!"

Missing the point

"RE4 limiting controls was because gamecube, not conscious design"

So according to you dedicated dodge buttons, free movement and more had never been a thing prior to that in console games or TPS? For people that don't actually play video games, or only played on their nintendos, only this is the case.

Alternatively, in your mind the gamecube did not have enough buttons to allow that, despite it having the exact same quantity and types of input as modern controllers. Controllers have barely evolved since that generation.

"Gooks are not innovative people"

Lol. The pig-headed ignorance. Not only an obscene amount of innovation in the gaming space in the 80s to mid 2000s, but also technology in general. They've declined in the gaming space lately in particular, but their technological and gaming history is pure innovation. You must be less monocled than I thought, because that's just a fact.

"Bring back JILL!"

fucking SDG. Go get laid bitch.

You guys have some aggressive level scaling running in the background.

Because it's the truth.

If you want nothing but positivity go join reddit. You can mass downvote anyone who doesn't tow the line so you can create your perfect safe space where you can all laugh at the John Wick memes together!

Some of them even hate the remake of the first game.

The most tragic part of that sentence was the exclamation mark at the end

The most tragic thing is your existence in RE threads.

You always leave ratings but never have anything substantial to add to the discussion. You have literally nothing to add.

I could write a whole novel about the RE series and Crapcoms antics, and still have enough content left over to write a sequel.

Just go back to reddit already.

This is what the RE4 fanboys always do time and time again. When someone doesn't share their love for Leon and the popamole RE games they try to shift you out of their club so that they can continue jerking off over Reddit memes unhindered. Don't believe me? Just go back 20-odd pages of this thread to the release window of RE:8 Village to see the sheer avalanche of reddit re-posts in this thread. You would think you accidentally took a wrong turn into the Horrors of Western Civilization thread. But no, memes is all RE is to these clowns.

Then they hate on me for expressing a valid opinion that is shared by a lot of people who liked the classic games. Stay fucking classy, Codex.
