In The Runelord series, the reclusive chroniclers of all history have a forbidden and ultra-secretive body of lore that amounts to the following, simple understanding: there is no evil but the following; to take from another man is evil--property, happiness, family, even such a small thing as respect.

The main character has a dilemma in that if he wants to not do evil, he is hamstrung. How can he stop those who would take, if he cannot take himself? If you take this to its logical conclusion, there are very few things you CAN do.

In The Witcher, there are no gods, only religions. And while some (but definitely not all) priests do use magic, they are no different than sorcerers, but they just claim that their power comes from their edities.
