I'll only buy it if Tim proves he understands how to properly use socks.

Though Broken Age's budget ended up ballooning up to something close to six million and he honestly thinks he can make Psychonauts for just about four more.

Psychonauts' budget was around 11.8 million, so they are basing that number on prior experience. More realistic than their previous Broken Age estimates.
That's 11.8M in 2005 dollars, though. And they had some sort of publisher oversight on that.

Psychonauts 2 was balled by Shafer since Psychonauts 1 finished irc. At this point it would be weird if Shafer didn't have brakedown costs done every few years.

Also Psychonauts 2 is sure bet to sell 1,5mln+. Depending on quality of game they could reach something like 3-4 mln in 1-2 years time especially if they will sign up publisher for PR for part of royalties.

Better question is when Al Love will do next new Larry game. Their remaster of L1 is v good and sold a lot.
This would be kickstarter which i could pledge on without any doubt. Larry7 is still goat in therms of jokes and humor

I guess you're not aware of the drama behind that: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/12/13/the-messy-saga-of-replays-paul-trowe-as-al-lowe-quits/

Psychonauts was the only truly great game Double Fine made, I find it unlikely for them to live up to it in the sequel. But I would sure love a proper one. Anyway, not giving much of a shit about it until it's released and full, not some Part 1 bullshit.

They must have additional investors. Schafer told Notch that he needed $18M to make it and while I have very little faith in his project management skills, I don't believe that even he thinks it will raise $18M on fig or that they can cut 80% of the budget and still make the game.

It depends on how desperately DF needed cash. It's quite likely they were running out and decided to get whatever cash they could now and figure out the rest later; that seems to have been there general approach the past few years.

Easy to not back this.

1. What the fuck is Fig? Why not use Kickstarter?
2. Psychonauts was a bit shit
3. Tim Schafer hasn't made a good game in years, Broken Age was very shit

Let fat fuck pay for game himself, sure he's got a few quid stashed away, maybe when it's his own money he'll care about it or learn basic maths.

I love Psychonauts but Double Fine has lost my faith in them lately, i don't think this will amount to anything, and maybe it is for the better.

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I am disappointed by now many people here who are willing to give money to the 3.3 million dollar fatass.

And by disappointed I mean I am writing your addresses on these envelopes full of powdered anthrax.

"We're going to ask for 3.3 million dollars...because that's what you generously gave us the first time we did this."

Not the most convincing or thoughtful argument for why you need x dollars to make a game, Tim.

Kickstarer takes a cut from pledges.
Kickstarter is also a known quantity at this point which also has the added benefit of not being run by Tim and his buddies. Even if you are misguided enough to believe the BA KS achieved its stated goals, you cannot believe Tim is good with money.

Have they ever made a crowdfunded game that was more than simply mediocre?

I would gladly back this if there was a lower level (say the 10 dollar level) that included the game. I don't want to go higher than that given Double Fine's recent ventures though, and money's tight nowadays.

Still, I hope they make the goal and somehow produce a good game.

I'm more disappointed with the excuse

*Well, the documentary was excellent and worth the money ALONE*

Here, we have it folks. You don't have to actually deliever games. As long as your propaganda is good enough its a masterpiece by codex standards!

The ultimate :decline:

I never said he is good with money.

And I was advocating AGAINST using fig. Using kickstarter would bring in more money faster.
