Decline PS4 wins the console war against XboxONE, yet it is a hollow victory as Consolesdämmerung is upon us

Here´s a couple of videos i did of my uncharted 4 playthrough, the game looks amazing, and more importantly, runs super smooth with absolutely no framerate dips.

I counted 6 games this Christmas, and one of them is Resident Evil 7.

The problem has been focusing (or having to focus) on the Playstation VR, theoretically it has been the VR system that has sold better this year, but it doesn't mean it has been a huge success so far. If it bombs it will damage Sony somewhat. Anyway, this Christmas they have focused too much on hardware (also trying to bolster other areas like TVs, with HDR/4K support and whatnot) and there's not much to enjoy on PS4.

But more importantly, his opinion about consoles:

All of the retail console sales data this holiday season indicated that the console market is going through a really significant downturn. I don’t think it’s seasonal. I think what we’re really facing is that young new gamers aren’t going into consoles.

Young people are growing up in mobile. They’re playing games in different ways, usually shorter play sessions spread throughout the day. It’s not the kind of experience where you sit down for four hours and play a game. And the gamers who are getting into that are moving more and more into PC, I think.
PC is becoming a more convenient way of playing. And also these PC-centric games that are operated continually are becoming a bigger and bigger factor in hardcore gaming: League of Legends, Dota, Overwatch.
Another factor is that laptops don’t suck for gaming anymore. They’re actually pretty good. It’s a much more mobile device than a console that is always tethered to a TV. And what percentage of people have exclusive control of a TV all to themselves? If you’re in a family, you probably have competition with other people. A PC, by default, is yours.

From the gameplay footage Scalebound looked pretty bad, so it makes sense. The XBone just can't catch a break.

Hopefully Platinum learns their lesson from this and doesn't work with Microsoft in the future, they can't be trusted.

NieR doesn't look much better, though that demo showed fuck all of the game. I do enjoy all the morons mourning this "loss" at various gaming sites and on Twitter, however.

From the demo I guess Nier will be good. It plays a lot like Bayonetta and the setting and art design are pretty rad.

Sony just added a boost mode to the latest PS4 Pro beta firmware that enables the Pro to use the full CPU/GPU power of the system even if the games are unpatched. Games will still be capped to what ever framerate they were designed around, but at least it provides more consistent frame rates. Some comparison videos:

UC4 looks better than both of those games

The difference being that this runs smoothly on a 300 euro/400 euro for even better visuals, while to get the same fidelity on a pc, you would spend significantly more for a complete machine.

Complete machine that is a locked system so you have to pay significantly more for games, and you even have to pay to play mp. PC is more powerful, and cost less when you consider the overall cost. Also it runs smoothly at 30fps.
