By the unnatural light of the flying wolf, you can see Urash perch his staff against a nearby stake and reach into his satchel to produce a handful of darts.

nikolokolus I cannot find any relevant rule in the rulebook or your house rules; is the act of taking something out of a satchel bag an action in itself, or would Urash be able to try to throw a dart this turn? If the latter, he will do just that.

Something quick and easy like pulling out a throwing weapon and using it doesn't require a full round action. If you wanted to rummage through pack and pull out a healing potion and use it, that however would require a full round.

S&W is pretty much OD&D, so much of the game is left open to rulings and interpretation. I promise, I try my best to be fair. If you think something is out of whack feel free to tell me and I'll reconsider any ruling.

"My time to shine!...Well your's rather, lupine freak!"
Ker starts calling for Cernunnos' blessing of coruscating light, gesticulating wildly while reciting ancient keltic mantras.

Dang, you did exactly what I had planned, cast light on the beastie.

Cormac holds his sharpened stick in the direction of the beast, hoping it doesn't decide his throat is next for slashing.

The wolf is currently "running" on thin air as if it were solid ground about 20 or 30 feet up and appears to be headed for the south wall of the village.

With the wolf lit up, Rhenmyr pounds on the greathouse door. "The Beast is here. Join the fight or live knowing Kelts show more courage in defending Crannógmere than you. Fight or live knowing you are cowards!" Rhenmyr shouts in Keltic before dashing toward the square.

Rhenmyr's outburst doesn't immediately illicit a response, but by the time he reaches the bottom of the switch-backing ramp it seems the greathouse is stirring. Sparing a glance backward you can see that one of the double doors is slightly ajar.

ROUND 3
Roll Initiative

Villager's Initiative [1d6] = 6
Wolf's Initiative [1d6] = 4

Ulem seems to hesitate as he looks down at the dying, bloody butcher and merely looks up in disbelief and despair as the flaming wolf hurtles through the air towards the wall.

Brule and Fidach nod at one another and start running for the gate.

"Cormac! Do you think you can do anything to save that man?" He says, glancing at Cormac, and pointing to the wounded butcher. Marcán then fixes his eyes on the wolf-god, trying not to lose him.

Seeing everyone rushing after the wolf, Urash picks up his staff.

He feels a twinge of guilt as he passes Torg and Ulem, but manages to look Ulem in the eyes and say:

"His tale will be told when your grandchildren recall the slaying of this great beast, Pict. We have it on the run! Let us end the night in glorious hunt! Come, Ulem of Crannógmere!"

Urash turns and starts running along with the others.

Cormac leans over the still body of Torg. The man is fully and truly dead and his vacant eyes stare back at you in a frozen expression of terror.

Ulem looks doubtfully at Urash after he finishes talking to him, "It's a fools errand to run recklessly into the moors at night. Erbs, deodands, unseelie, and worse stalk the forest and fens. I wish you luck though." He turns and scampers back to the flophouse.

At the edge of the square on the ramp leading up to the greathouse, King Talorc, his councilor Syelle and a retinue of bodyguards stand transfixed. Talorc shouts through the darkness, "Look at what your meddling has wrought you fools! Brule and Fidach, this is your fault as well. I hereby banish you all from the village on pain of death. Do not return unless you have proof the beast is slain! Do you hear me, you bastards!"

Fidach and Brule heave at the stout beam that bars the village gates and doors slowly swing open. Brule turns and looks at your troupe who have caught up, "Well, it appears we have little choice but to pursue. You are brave men and I am thankful to have met you . . . no matter what may transpire. Come. Perhaps we'll finally track the beast to its lair?"

The wolf wreathed in faerie fire is now over the walls and has put about 50 yards of distance between you and it. It is still "flying" about ten feet off the ground.

"Yes. That is the only way to destroy the beast," He holds the rope in his hand. "with this. Or so the crone says. Let's go, before the flames go out." Marcán takes a breather, then starts to follow the faerie fire outside the village.

Fidach, Brule and Oona turn and look back to see if anybody besides Marcán is following them.

"Come Cormac! We don't want to be caught inside with the good king and his cronies." Rhenmyr heads for the gate and the wolf beyond.

The Picts see that Urash is also running out of the village with them.

Hearing Rhenmyr, he thinks to himself "You're right, you don't want to be stuck inside with the King and his little friend!"

"One could even say the fallen hero owes us for finishing his job for him! But first, we must keep up with this thing!"

Urash runs on, panting. He tries to make mental notes of the landscape's features, in case he needs to trace his way back through the countryside.

"I begin to regret not burning the greathouse down with king and cronies inside." Rhenmyr says chasing the wolf.

Marcán looks at Fidach, Brule and Oona's reactions to Urash and Ker's comment. "Aye, Rhenmyr, and I regret following you into the tower." He clasps his hand. "It's all in the past, now, and we look to the future. Which involves wolf gods apparently."

He mumbles in Keltic, "What a future..."
