I'm a bit disappointed with parts of the game's documentation. Trying to figure out how the monk works is a nightmare - nowhere the game explains what a "wound threshold" is, or if fighting unarmed counts as "dual-wielding".

And there are various items with unique enchantments that have no description whatsoever. It's even more annoying as the rest of the game has a great documentation, with tooltips everywhere... hope they add more in future patches.

The Eders quest: Fragments of a scattered believe. Is there a solution for this quest after Maerwald is killed? Because Eder had no chance to speak to him, but this quest is still open. Is this a bug?

Talk to him. When NPCs want to speak to you they get a little talk icon on their portraits. Talk to them by clicking them and cliccking talk butotn on the hotbar. If you haven't done this already there should be quite a few conversations you should catch up on.
Have talked to him, before Maerwald, and after Maerwald he has no update on the topics.

Weird. He should have comments about it:

He should explain to you what he wanted to know from Maerwald, then he tells you he hopes to find more in... some archive in Defiance Bay I think. I can't remember.

Eder only gets the new dialogue options after the player talks to the steward and receives the Keep. You can (and should) do this right after the Maerwald battle.

It's indeed very beautiful.

Unfortunately my GOG version crashes very often - like every 15-20 minutes, either to desktop or straight to BSOD/restart. Occasionally when loading a map the graphics get all very badly corrupted and I have to alt+F4 out of it. Still, when it runs, it runs pretty smoothly on my pos 5-year old laptop.

As I said, some things have to be tried out. This is an example. When you actually start a monk, you'll see that he'll have 2 attacks in the character screen/inventory. (Why OE? Why do I have to start a new game to see this? Why not give me a character screen in the character creation part?!) If you give him a shield, it'll go down to one attack. Of course that still doesn't tell you anything about wound threshholds, whether it counts as dual-wielding for talent purposes (though I would assume it does) or how the unarmed attacks scale with level.
I got a shield that gives the "bash" ability. This means every so often my char will bash an enemy with the shield for a modest amount of damage. (Quasi like a shitty second weapon.) But it doesn't give me information on attack speed or interupt severity. I also don't know if this counts as dual-wielding and would profit from the corresponding talent. (Though I have no intention of taking a talent on account of an early-game item. But if I were a dual-wielder, would this be a nice defensive fall-back? Hatchet and this shield?)

Gave the "demo" a spin to see what all the fuzz is about.
But i just couldn't find anything to spark my interest really.
I guess i value different things in games now that i i'm older.
Technically it's great though, and very polished.
I'm a bit bummed out, but not really surprised.

Just got the Keep.

The dialogues with Maerwald are very good, Great voice acting and a really nice little scene altogether. Nicely written.
This is certainly a game with the best type of story and main plot of the big three.

If only it had OS combat mechanics, eh?

There was a false option offered to not take the keep, only if you choose it you have to anyway. I didnt appreciate that detail but the rest about the Keep is pretty good.

Nice choices in what to do with Maerwald after your done talking too.

Thank you both. The topics for Eder update only after you leave the building. That was my problem, because i have tried everything else out and the topics did not update, so i thought that this was a bug.

Yep, Maerwald was very nicely done. Now trekking around in Defiance Bay and it's a nice city, it's cool to get a little taste of Vailian Republics with that embassy and so on.

I just got past the Keep too, and I want to spend allll my money pimping it out. Is there any negative to just sitting and letting time elapse until all your upgrades are finished building? I'd rather let those all finish up before I start adventuring again, but I don't want a quest to suffer or anything either.

Engagement is an idiotic mechanic. You can't try and escape a life or death situation or rotate your melees, you only make it a death or death situation. I understand AOO, but this is several levels of risk above it and restrains decition making.
Try to escape BEFORE you lose so much endurance that an engagement hit would kill you. Don't wait until the last moment. Problem solved.

Loving the game and feeling proud to be a KS backer, however... developer's commentary makes me cringe. It's blatantly obvious the guy is reading a note and he often needs to catch a breath or swallow, which sounds fucking awkward.

edit: also, what do these green dots represent?

I kinda liked developer's commentary, actually. Especially Jorge Salgado - dat voice! Girls are nice too (can't remember their names). It's a nice feature overall, though there are some minor spoilers.

Yeah well maybe it gets better as the story progresses, I admit I haven't played much yet. It's a minor issue anyway.

I hope the fix will be retroactive. I don't want to restart just to see if my character previously had passive bonus.

Fix: remove NPCs from your party and add them back, they should get back whatever they were missing.

Doesn't apply to your PC though, but I've just checked and my PC still seems to have her Moonlike bonus so I think all is ok.

I haven't really followed PoE modability-wise so I'm wondering - would it be possible to recreate BG/BG2 stories in its engine?
