Looking like OEI might have a real hit on their hands.

I just don't see any critics reviews yet.

I may be stupid or smth.
And I agree with you that it was unwise of metacritic to allow user scores before release *sigh*

I dislike Metacritic unless it fits with my personal agenda.

It's starting to look like Obsidian really pulled it off this time :bounce:

“If intricate combat is the aspect that puts you off story-led RPGs, then Easy mode is there for you – but don’t expect to be quite off the hook. ”

Eh, I wish there was a mode where you could just skip the mind-crushingly tedious and grindy combat these games seem to require by law. There’s a mod for DA:O where you can skip battles; let me know when this game gets the same treatment.

http://www.videogamer.com/reviews/pillars_of_eternity_review.html - another one of those incomplete reviews:

videogamer.com said:
Pillars is remarkable. It achieves and surpasses its mission to be a 'refresh' of a style of game which died out long-ago, shortly after providing a blueprint for those which superseded it. Had the men and women at Obsidian succeeded only in making something which appealed to old-time fans of the genre, they could have called it a job well done. But they’ve gone one better – Pillars of Eternity is modern, while evoking the past. It’s accessible, but satisfyingly complex. Its quality is undeniable, and it’s particularly heartening to see Obsidian, the underdog RPG studio with a string of thrown-bones and rough diamonds behind it, pour its sweat and passion into something they obviously love – and utterly nail it. Barring disaster, I’ve no doubt this will hold up until the end. I'll let you know in about 200 years.

Escapist review: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/art...ials/reviews/13681-Pillars-of-Eternity-Review

Bottom Line: It's the best new, isometric RPG to come out in years.

Recommendation: While Pillars of Eternity is certainly banking on a nostalgic fan base, it's still an excellent RPG in its own right. It's a game rich with player agency, giving you tons of control to craft your story or explore different solutions to the presented problems. You know, actual roleplaying not simply a game with a leveling and stat system stapled on.

5/5

All aboard the hype train! Choo Choo!

:hype:

I really hope it's grand slam by the sales as well, based on Super Bunnyhop's review Obsidian would deserve it.

This is bound to end up being the best selling KS RPG judging by these reviews + the fact that it's RTwP + the Infinity Engine nostalgia.

Hopefully this means Obsidian will have enough funds to be able to do not only PoE2, but also some more risky project like a sci-fi RPG for example.

Just got my Adventurer's Edition. Everything is bilingual, including the map (Polish version is on the other side).

Polish translation seems pretty cool, I am actually considering playing through the localized version.

Game guide is something like a printed version of the tutorial, it includes hints, classes descriptions, explanation of game's systems, etc.
