Disco Elysium should also be here tbh.

No, it shouldn't. Disco is devoid of puzzles, item manipulations, pixelhunting and any challenge. It has no characteristics that make it relatable to adventure games. It really feels and plays like an RPG without combat or an elaborate visual novel.

Why the terrible browser/flash game-like graphics ? The art is awful, cheap and amateurish, graphics are a huge part of the appeal of adventure games, in addition to a good narrative with a well-told story, considering that a lot of them are built around minimalistic gameplay.

Disco Elysium is just an eloborate visual novel. It's only somewhat more eloborate than True Love ~Jun'ai Monogatari~. However, Disco Elysium is lacking in romances, porn, and decent writing while its creators and players try to pretend its something other than a boring visual novel.

p sure True Love with its day passing mechanic, stat training, multiple reputations and 11 something endings is more elaborate.

Huh, the game's Steam description was actually changed from "historical mystery role-playing game" to "historical mystery narrative-driven game" at some point during June. OK, I guess I'll move the thread.

Sawyer seems like a cool dude, but he also seems like the kind of dude I would have made fun of in school for acting like he had a vagina.

I had a mixed feelings about Pentiment but I have a felling it's gonna be a sleeper winter hit. My only issue is that it won't have some bloody combat. They could make Pillars combat with isometric view and call it a day.

Wise move to be honest; this wasn't looking well. As an adventure though, casual too? Could work. And if it does, maybe, finally, an audience they can tap into.
Younger, dumber, wanting less and wanting it easier and easier. Money there to be had.

I do wonder whether it was the new management talking some 'sense' into him, or himself arriving to said conclusion unaided. If the latter, then perhaps Josh the Lesbian Cyclist has finally decided to give up his pretensions and just enjoy his salary. Neither first nor last to sail that way.

I was going to add this. True Love is a pretty great "trainer" rpg, its a small genre, with like 20? 30? games to its name, but it can very much be incline.
Academagia, princess trainer and tale of wuxia are examples of it.

I think the release of Pentiment would be interesting media wise due to it "educational" premise- this view sustains in all the articles that promoting the game.

Also i wonder if pentiment will invoke criticism form other indie developers due to the fact that it is a quasi indie game: Josh still got his 213K/year salary and his dev got a AA studio working conditions, salaries and benefits.

Who gives a fuck about the quality of the tweet. You like his Twitter, follow it, you don't, don't.

I'm asking in what possible way the content of that tweet is noteworthy enough to post in the Codex thread about the game. It's like posting a blank post
