I don't like "A Fan's Guide", to be honest. Simply "A Guide" or "Companion" or whatever sounds much better, imo.
fixed :)

I agree with CB that you should drop the cRPG and maybe even the whole abbreviation and go for the full word : Computer Role-Playing Games.
Some other variations :

The big book of Computer Role-Playing Games.

The great bible of Computer Role-Playing Games.

The Great Compendium of Computer Role-Playing Games.

Adventurer's Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games.

So far I think that "The Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games" is one of the best, it only lacks a bit of flavor... it sounds generic, but I guess a subtitle can solve that.

Adventurer's Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games.
I like this, as cheesy, neckbeard-ish and LARP-like it sounds.

Another classy alternative to "Games" is "Genre".

I think the subtitle should somehow reference the broad timeline the book encompasses as that's a big feature of the project imo.

There are plenty of possibilities, whether mentioning the 35 years directly as HiddenX mentioned or something including 'Akalabeth to South Park' as I proposed. It would also def make the main title a bit less generic:
- From tapes to torrents
- Golden era to Kickstarter age
- Text adventures to 3D textures
or whatever

One last thought:
Adventurer's Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games
35 Years of Choice and Consequence

The double meaning of choice and consequence is not just the fact that it features in many RPGs (inb4 not everything on the list) but that it refers to the whole industry. Some of the choices of the industry, whether streamlining, pursuing 3D graphics, moving to consoles, DRM etc ,etc, had big consequences for the genre (as we discuss all the time and will mention in reviews).
