I didn't know the mod designer was reading the Codex...
I should probably post here more. Too many other demands on my time...
...It's interesting so far but it's really starting to look like a Russian Fallout mod with a single player and no companions...
You will get companions in due course (including eventually a permanent one that makes many players wish they could play without any), but ultimately NWN is not much good as a party-focused game (if you do not count multi-player). It might actually make more sense, and make the game easier to appreciate, if you compared it other single-character focused games like Fallout or an Elder Scrolls game, since in many respects (not all, naturally) NWN actually has more in common with games like that than more party-focused D&D games.
Again, a game of that type might well not be your cup of tea, but, as I said, I do think NWN compares well to other single-character focused games in its core systems (obviously actual campaign content would be another question). For example, one of NWN's biggest issues is the retarded henchman AI, but companion AI and control mechanisms in games like Fallout and Arcanum are even worse.
