Silent Hill's original music (ignoring the lyric tracks used for trailers) was a bunch of random fucking noise. It sucked to listen to outside of the game. In game it worked because it's not listening music, it's atmospheric music.
Counter Point :

I can only put 5 media links but I had more in mind
Love psalm in particular I can play whenever the mood hits me. And this goes double for the soundtrack in SH3. "Please love me once more", "end of small sanctuary" and "I've been losing you" are amazing.
Most of those are trailer music or remixes of it.

The majority of silent hill music sounds like this and it's not intended to be listened to out of context.

I like to listen to this types of music. This one I can listen to for hours.

From Silent Hill 4. Creepy, unsettling and comfy all at the same time. I would love a remake of Silent Hill 4. Had it's fair share of problems, but easily the most disturbing of them all. I remember close to Silent Hill 4's release, a gaming magazine where I live came with demos and trailers. And the Silent Hill 4 trailer was on there and it's weird shit and then this song comes at the end and it's just strange and otherworldly

Run -dx11 in the launch options for an immense fps boost and graphic fixes. Went from 50-60fps 1440p DLSSQ to 60-75fps 1440p native

(playing on easy)
:what: y? wanting less tension?
When you're given an option to choose difficulty, the harder difficulties are fake. Hard just means more enemy HP, less main character HP, and fewer items. The health and ammo pickups aren't even purposely placed in the world and the difficulty balanced around that. There's a dynamic loot pinata running the background that feeds you what you need when you need it. This is obviously scaled back on normal and hard modes. Just give me shotgun ammo and let me go John Rambo on the 300+ enemies in the game.

One interesting observation and question. Do you think they had to put the arrows above the combination lock because zoomers don't know they work? Similar to how they don't know how to read an analog clock? Pretty funny.

It's funny that you mention this. I'm playing Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition and just completed the above puzzle. I'm surprised you don't have to spin it twice, then once, before arriving at your numbers. Are japanese padlocks different in that you just turn the one time?
I think people are just retarded nowadays.

From Silent Hill 4.
Great tone piece, but hard to listen to without also hearing in my head “dad.. dad.. dad.. where’s dad? dad.. I can’t see your face” over and over again. I remember getting that xbox mag demo disc and playing it repeatedly; also just leaving my tv on hanging around in the room or looking out the window like a strange screensaver. Lots of neat ideas but the rushed production time really hurt it overall.

Silent Hill 2 pummels the Resident Evil remakes. Feels like a PS2 game with modern graphics and good combat.

Completed the hospital section. Really well paced and engaging the whole time. Combat is frequent which keeps things interesting as you explore. You're always finding ammo and health pots (playing on easy) so I never feel like I'm struggling.

Were these added notes in the original version? I never played it because the controls were so god awful, but I really love the notes. Adds a lot of flavor.

Just look at this. It's incredible to witness first hand. Spooky encounter here btw. Made me scream like a little girl.

Had a 'Jigsaw' type encounter on the elevator. "Hello James, I want to play a game..." Still have no clue what that was about. Felt very meta and fourth wall breaking.

I just knew shit was about to go down when I went down this staircase.

No, on PS2 the map only had marker for where you are, and which doors are locked / open if you try to open a door or enter place. Rest you had to figure out for yourself
There were other notes on the map too, such as point of interest, puzzles unsolved or solved, target to reach (automatically added after reading documents/examining objects/speaking to people), savepoints.
This was a staple since SH1.

Blobber Team won.

Sucks that it's selling well but it's not like it makes any difference to me now. Silent Hill WAS dead. If they revive it as a zombie with this garbage then I haven't lost anything. The game still sucks and instead of having no game I'll have no game I want to play. Same thing.

Aren’t they all on sale in Japan? Just from what I’ve heard the deluxe game edition only has a dozen tracks included as dlc and the rest are on physical releases. I know the sample videos Konami posted recently had like 6 “CD’s” listed for the timestamps in those 2 videos notes

The game kicks into overdrive once you reach the prison, makes the first half of the game look tame. Big spooks incoming!

Loving the ominous vibe. There's a sense of dread that doesn't let up. 10/10 in that regard.

I'm sure a few of you can relate with this picture :timcain:

This is one of many holes I jumped down, "muh symbolism." Is this why you spergs are so obsessed with the sanctity of the original game? Christ, y'all need jesus.
I'm expecting the ending to be one giant dream, or James is coming to terms with raping his wife, or something of that sort. Bitch has been MIA the whole game. I'm just here to shoot monsters though.

Spooky prison. Why are nurses in there though? I understand they are an 'enemy,' but they don't fit the setting. Couldn't they make prison guard enemies? 1/10 in that regard.

Think I’ll give Homecoming and the Silent Hill Collection a go on the Series X after I finish this. Silent Hill is pretty cool. Love the level design.

What is the best channel for Silent Hill content on YouTube? I want to see what else the series has to offer.

Did anyone here play the PSP game? How was it? I swear it was a Diablo like with loot lol… I just remember everyone sperging out about it when it dropped, and the game director being bitter about it.

Edit: it was a Vita game

His wife isn't MIA. In fact the remake confirms a certain fan theory about her being in the game from the very start.

I'm still hoping some inspired dev will remake the first Silent Hill with it's CG cutscenes in mind as the aesthetic. Not everything needs to be a UE5 asset flip with realism for the sake of it. It's supposed to be a nightmare, so make it look a little more stylized.

Why are modern devs so incompetent? Its an important element to the story, light the fucking thing!

Pillow is clearly trolling and when no one took the bait he posted a bunch of low hanging fruit hoping we'd take that instead. Pretending to be a zoomer and playing a shit game to troll codex is just sad.

The lighting in the game is terrible. It's never used to highlight stuff and it doesn't make sense either. They have so many open windows tight next to pitch black shadows. They don't even have proper god rays and dust effects that can make limited lighting look creepy and echo the fog motive from outside.

The painting in the remake is weird. The original is vaguely shaped figures and the front looks to be a woman. But the remake defines it a lot and makes it a man.

Indie devs are starting to make PS1 cut scene styled games but they're all pretty terrible. They're nostalgia focused rather than style focused.
