Good. Thats funny I actually had that apologize in mind the other day when fuming about the Drake Pen. Glancing over Blib's link its good to see people voicing discontentment as opposed to the standard gamesite sycophantry.

Well you can spot the real reason of why they are doing this so late, the upcoming Xbox build update.

I wanted to see the Xbox mass exodus after they were updated, this was likely done because they realized the same ... so they just reverted back to maintain the Xbox experience.

Well, reason is fairly obvious, since supposedly the Xbox version is doing really well while based on Steam numbers the PC version lost 30% of its playerbase due to Mod 6.

I thought the same when I read "those changes will be in place when we launch the Xbone update". As usual, the PC master race has to act as guinea pigs before the consoltards get a refined version. :decline:

Well in this case it's more about self-preservation, since I'm fairly sure if they'd do it in reverse order and Mod 6 type reaction happened with the Xbone version, the next meeting with Chinese Overlords would look like it was written and directed by Takeshi Miike.

Anyway, I've written several eternal "events" into the Guild page, which outline basic to-do stuff and organisation for now.

The 15% off anything coupon (from the prayer bag) works with VIP purchase. I am holding off for "fixes" and the coupon, then I'll get the 6 month VIP.

I've been thinking about adding some stuff to promote pug recruitment in the form of some basic info in Guild Description tab to give new recruits a better idea of what they're getting into once joined.
Editorial thoughts in whatever this color is.

A rough draft but hopefully a motivating starting point.

Guild info screen:

Welcome to our guild!

In general there's no need for centralized authority, or hierarchy.
We have no compulsorily service or uptight requirements, just have fun at own pace.
Of course the more we all contribute the greater the benefit.

Most of us don't PvP at all so we don't plan on focusing on PvP guild structure upgrades any time soon.
If you do , that's great, but keep the above in mind. (Eh)

Bank access will be granted once trial period completes. (Should there be different tiers of bank access or would that be shitty or violate what we have going / statements listed above ?)

Should you chose to move on to another guild take solace that you keep the Guild Marks you've earned.

(keep the current info message at bottom)

Recruit message:

Laid back, no-nonsense, PvE Guild looking for more members. Gain the benefits of guild membership with no obligations. or join us till you till find something better and earn those Guild Marks.

-------

Need to play with the wording to make more succinct, less room for misinterpretation .

I'm hoping that we may have a shot at catching any returning rubberneckers that may come to see if future "fixes" are any good. Their guild status may have changes once they stopped playing or maybe Gauntlgrym wasn't enough to join one in the first place.

You could add a little salesmanship to the opening, like:

"Who needs all the drama and posturing you get in an uptight guild? It's a game, and everyone's here to have fun. Our guild doesn't believe in pulling rank or treating members differently."

That sort of thing. You should also point out that trial period can end in a matter of hours, since hanging around in the chat and being a cool bro/broette is all the qualification you need to prove yourself. Another thing to point out would be that in our guild ranks are generally based around what you think you need for making things better for the guild as a whole and what responsibilities you are willing to take on your shoulders.

Agreed but marketing is saying to consider changing "uptight" to "overbearing".
At this point I'd like to push it off on someone else now. I am a crapsack slacker as Norfleet says. Of course there is Recruitment Message box in the info screen so that once we get a nice catchy message any of us can copy/paste advertise.

I'll be trying to get in the habit of looking for the guildless when pugging with good teammates.

Your recruitment messages are so sappy. I would have gone with something involving being my slave and doing whatever I tell you to do. I point out that on STO, I have recruited more people on this message than you have. Seriously, blurb like this just bounces off the mind like so much guild advertising spam. You need to come up with a message that makes people actually look at it. Messages like "OBEY ME! PERFORM MENIAL LABOR IN THE SERVICE OF MY INSANE WHIMS!".

Is there a Codex guild for this waste of time? I had the mmo bug and have been levelling a character.

These problems are par for the course. Post one of your character name with @accountname and maybe one of us can strike lucky enough for it to take.

I sent a mail to the pug with the 3 man guild I was talking to. I'm thinking a short recruit message like the one I shared in game:
Guildless? The Raiders of the Lost Grimoire are looking to expand. Primarily PVE, laid back and no prerequisites or strenuous expectations. PM if interested.
...with a something of a follow up message with finer details laid out may be the way to go.

As an example I will put the message I sent him here. I think with a bit of refining it could serve as that copy/paste 'follow up' message.

>Guild joining possibility (1 of 2)

Hello, I am the guy you were talking about joining / merging guilds with.

First off we're called The Raiders of the Lost Grimoire and are also very small. We'd love for you to join but if not now then, should you change your mind, maybe later.

As you can see from the Stronghold any real chance to advance calls for more members.

While all this is true we don't want to have any requirements for our members as we have a laid back and have fun first attitude. No prerequisites or strenuous expectations as I said in the recruit message.

We PvE but are in a bit of a lull as Mod6 and further changes has made everything very difficult for most of us.

Many of us are doing lots of Stronghold stuff atm.

If you're concerned about this (and from what I remember in our pms) know that our leader frequently runs Elite Lostmauth and the rest of us would like nothing better than to be able to PvE again. Currently most of us are holding out for desperately needed character fixes, biding time trying to get better gear and building up this new stronghold. I guess we could start doing lesser dungeons if need be.

Our leader, Ashur@vaarna_aarne , is probably our best player and is fairly knowledgeable about the game. Like the rest of us he doesn't want a structure of an elitist hierarchy and serves as a "gate keeper" in his position. The ranks that do exist are purely for operational need.

When talking of expansion for the guild Vaarna says he would like for all members to be able to invite others to join and even form their own "cells" should they wish. This outlook is shared by the rest of us as well.

---------------------------
Guild joining possibility (2 of 2)

I know you said you have 2 other guys plugging away at your stronghold.
Another concern may be that any gains made there so far would be lost if you abandon your guild to merge and then there's 'relinquishing' leadership control to a virtual stranger.
Maybe just you could come over and test the waters to get a feel of who we are, as we do for you, for a trail period?
At the very least any guild marks already earned should be retrained and be used at the new guild once we get the market up.

In our SH We have a Lumber Mill and Farm and are on our way towards Guild Hall rank 2. So still fresh.
We have 4 guild bank repositories and have it filled with things such as potions of all types to help those leveling alchemy, dyes and the usual random helpful items. Bank access will be lock off though for recruits in trail period.

All said we are very open to criticism or voicing a course of action.

Hope to see you join
Mail word limit forced me to send in two parts. I also mentioned Vaarna with his contact info, if you would rather I not do this then that will be something to do too..... and sorry for doing it already ( eeep ).

Of course the personalized stuff will get cut and I see a few lines too.

oh yes, Vaarna if you could add the recruit message or one like it to the Guild Recruit message box in the guild info tab ...that would be just super.

  • There is now an option in the power window to apply a free respec when one or more of the characters powers are not in a good state. This would manifest as powers not being purchaseable or VIP powers not being usable.
Color me surprised.

You're resorting to guild-spamming now? That is a terrible, terrible way to recruit, and offers no hook. You need better pitch: Who am I? Why should YOU, specifically, and not any random person, join me? What do you get from this? What are you expected to do? And it should be succinct and to the point: "Join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son.". Notice how this neatly captures the who, the why, and the what. Just remember that no matter how well-crafted the pitch, some people are just destined to be whiny bitches. Heredity is like that. Don't be like Luke.

This is true and will become more true as whatever the member limit is reached (in theory). At first I just wanted to cast a net to see what donors can be found. There is also the pesky little fact that our base has next to nothing to offer any members, be the good, bad, or ugly (except for the fact that our base members are of the highest quality). I'm not going to spam messages in zone anymore and stick to looking for 70 level players that are without a guild when pug parting. I still don't consider Lv 70 a requirement but I would like to start seeing some returns on opening our doors soon, no matter how small.

I really don't want to have anything other than a relaxed and fun attitude but I also don't want barnacles reaping the benefits and providing nothing in turn (should guild marks take care of this?).

The only thing you're GOING to ever find are assorted barnacles. Here's the thing you need to grasp: Guilds have existed well before this. This means that everyone who's anyone already has a guild. There are NO people worth recruiting out there left. Note how in STO, I was only able to pull a small number of people, most of which were essentially barnacles I tolerated, and the only thing I ever expected to extract from them was the occasional menial labor. Most of YOU are barnacles. Especially YOU, TRAITOROUS SLOPPY.

The flip side of this is that when the dramada system appeared out of nowhere, I had people pretty much lining up to join me out of nowhere, probably because they always wanted to be on my team, but didn't want to leave theirs.

But you? You're Sloppy. You're a nobody, running one of many thousands of nobody-guilds that will likely go nowhere because you lack a concrete plan of any kind. Either you buckle down and become a somebody, or you're going to be one of those failed guilds begging Craptic for the NW equivalent of the dramada system. Except you don't actually know a somebody you could join, and a group of nobody guilds is still a bunch of nobodies.
