I am serious. I understand the technical appeal of the renderings and their attention to detail, but I personally think they get so lost in rendering the detail that the world itself just blurs into one backdrop that makes it more difficult to identify individual shapes and objects, especially when it comes to things like doors, stairs, containers and such, as well as characters. Interface icons can be difficult to identify just from the images and I find I get a kind of visual fatigue when playing games for longer periods when their visuals aren't particularly clear.

It isn't so much an issue of aesthetic quality or artistic expertise as it is clarity and balance, although an experienced and talented artist should be able to do all of these things at once.

You have learnt of the appearance of a strange cult and are required to deliver a mysterious letter to Andover Portobello at the New Sorpigal Inn. From there you are told to deliver it to the King at Castle Ironfist
Not true. Andover gives you a reward if you claim to be the guy one of the letters was addressed to. This is entirely optional. The rest you need to deliver to Castle Ironfist, not to the king - the fact that the king isn't there is the reason why you need to deliver those letters in the first place

The graphics look very appealing to me. I would certainly pick them over the rather crappy Baldur's Gate visuals. I would say they have aged well even; far more interesting, clear and practical than many games of today going from the screenshots I have seen, both the menus and the game world.

An enjoyable read. And a good review even if I'm not agree with everything. The review should wander in the magazine part of the codex.

For the visuals; they look better on screenshots than in reality and they weren't even good at the time the game came out. But the engine was very serviceable and allowed a lot of running wild across the country and the air, of course.
That was upon a time when graphics weren't the most important aspect of a rpg. But M&M6 and M&M7 equipment-slots and dolls are still my favorite graphics in that regard and still unmatched (Morrowind was close).

I thought daggerfall's were better. There was little coherence in the M&M paper dolls (especially in 7) so your character often looked like a court jester. Some robes would've been nice. Like the ones on the mage/archmage in homm2.

At Master level, Hour of Power casts all the buff spells at four times skill point investment. I can't see much to recommend getting Spirit magic past expert(four skill points) when Light magic provides better buffs. For a Cleric, you'll be going for both Dark and Light magic for better spell offense and improved buffs.
