Reminds me of a video where a guy with severe muscle deterioration who could not breathe unassisted and was strapped to a wheelchair was tapping his knuckles on a controller that was flat on a table... and he beat Elden Ring that way. He was also talking shit about a journo's tweet about how games need an easy mode to be more accessible for the less abled, with the guy going "just let me remap the buttons in a console game and I'm good".

I know, I know, BP was a turd on release, but since then it's improved significantly. There was this update Operation Motherland released months ago that presents a new campaign with more open-ended structure, and an "immersion mode" that allows customizing the experience to taste (no HUD, looter mechanics off, survival features, AI teammates on/off, improved enemy alertness, etc).

Ubisoft games have been a hard pass for me ever since I got locked out of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on Steam due to some Uplay shenanigans. What happened, I suspect, is that I used Uplay so infrequently that I ended up creating two separate Uplay accounts by mistake.

Since then I refuse to play any game that requires the use of two DRM clients simultaneously, or really, the use of any DRM client at all. The only reason to require two clients is to try to herd users over to one's own platform, because it sure as shit isn't due to security concerns. There will only ever be one DRM client on my computer, and that's Steam. I'm not a champion of Steam or of any DRM client, but let's just say it's grandfathered in for me from a time nearly two decades past when I wasn't conscientious about DRM clients. I refuse to assume the burden of managing a shitload of logins, passwords, and proprietary software to suit every publisher in existence.

If I really need to play an Ubisoft game (hasn't happened since Blood Dragon), I'll steal it. But more and more in recent years I've found that AAA games are easily skipped, and it's been many years since I've torrented a game.

Breakpoint is better than MGS5.

Does it have same level complexity and detail MGS5 has ? The thing that makes mgs5 is the amount of work they put into details not that you can just attack compound from any side you want. While the vanilla game barely makes you use those mechanics, with infinite heaven and proper difficulty you start to appreciate just how much detail is in it.

Nope. MG5 has much tighter gameplay, more complete AI and is the better game overall. I meant to say that BP Motherland campaign scratches the same itch, just that*.


*Last update opened the game up for a myriad ways to play, and between an "immersion mode" that turns your HUD off, the option to select which AI squad member to accompany you, or increased enemy lethality that kills you in a couple shots (and make you limp and piss blood if not treating your injuries), there's now a fairly decent tactical shooter/infiltrator in it, in the vein of MGS5. In other words, they hardcorized what was a fairly popamole game. I mean, you still must find the right mix of options to make that happen (and avoid carrying the full squad otherwise their sync-shot breaks the game) but it's there if you look for it.

I play offline exclusively and fultoning and grinding sucks the fun out of the game for me.

Look into the Infinite Heaven mod, it makes a lot of things tweakable. Also it's been a few years but I don't remember grinding being necessary unless you want twenty different versions of the same few things, if you try to 100% you will exhaust your self. I have something like 120 hours and I got nowhere near completionism (I did fuck around a lot)

Grinding indeed sucks the fun out of the game. Which means you shouldn't grind as much (what for? for fancier items? not worthy) and enjoy the experience, play like YOU want to play it, not like the game is a dull job.

But nonetheless, installing Infinite Heaven like kites suggests will make grinding more bearable. Amongst many things, you can change stuff like the amount of materials you can get when you grab them up to 1000%. There are also a few mods than can help with the quality of soldiers you get to help with development levels too. But I suggest to not mess much with that, simply play with the tools you're given and find alternative solutions to the problem. Game is best enjoyed if you play it with the mindset that it's an immersive sim.

Never thought I'd miss cutscenes, it actually kept me involved with the lore, audio tapes feel rushed too much. MGS already has unnecesarily complicated lore now I feel even more disconnected. If they removed weird Japanese dorkiness that Kojima keeps forcing in the game it'd be much better.

If you like the base management in MGS5 for some reason, you're probably better off playing Peace Walker, which does it better.

Treat MGS5 as a military infiltration simulator. Install mods. Skip cutscenes, kill Quiet.

Also, don't forget Ground Zeroes, which is amazing.

I just realized not only enemies equipment changes according to players gamestyle but also their behavior changes as well, for example they're much more quick to respond suspicious movements if the player sneaks well on regular basis. It's one of the best way to implement hardness in the game.

Btw D-Walker sucks, something tells me it's unfinished and rushed due to Konami pressure. Otherwise I can't explain the uselessness.

I agree it’s a good system, it’s easy to slide into a singular optimal playstyle when given sets of tools; yet still a little too simple to mitigate by destroying shipments or whatever though.

I almost never touched the walker or used the companions, they seemed to break the game (or, in the case of the dog, my immersion) but still upgraded everything because bing bing wahoo autism
