I'm very into cock and ball torture
Archenemy

Sounds good, I never played that.

I like the idea of playing irl cardgames against an overpowered AI foe.
We used to do that with Yu-Gi-Oh cards and homebrewed rules. Take Mariks' deck from the Manga, give him extra rules, and face him together.

I will keep an eye out for good prices on those products.

The technological problems persist,.
I would recommend a fresh install of windows.

I've had MTGA go completely bonkers on me before and crash every time I logged in.

I wasn't sure what the problem was, but I suspect it had to do with some files getting corrupted after an update.

I just completely uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it and it worked fine.

This also worked for me in the past after a MTGA update caused some fuckery. I was able to play without reinstalling.

Unfortunately I've been getting the return of the MTGA black screen of death

I found a way to bypass this screen.

While sitting at the black screen of death, open your task manager (assuming you are playing on windows)

Open the drop down box for MTGA >>> find the thing that says unity crash manager.

Kill the unity crash manager. THEN kill MTGA

When you restart MTGA it will open like normal. It's worked a few times for me so far. Seems after every game I get booted.

I see a few bugs sometimes but only minor. The client was pretty terrible when I first started. It improved at least.

I went to my new local MtG store and decided to buy a Red Theme Booster to support the store (and because it's not that expensive). I expected a Flinger at best, but I pulled a mother fucking Goldspan Dragon, which is the 3rd most valuable card Kaldheim, praise Purphoros!

Plus Kaldheim has a lot of good commons and uncommon, especially in red so I was happy with my purchase like a pig in shit.

Between Goldspan Dragon's $32cad valye and the average value of rest of the cards, it's roughly $50 in value, for roughly $7 cad going by enterthebattlefield.ca prices (which is where I bought it at it's physical location).

I fell in love with this in the Arena beta and was really annoyed it wasn't added in Kaladesh remastered

Still, now Paradoxical Outcome is truly back! Will have to fight through Thoughseizes now though!

My gosh, a Modern Horizons rare in Historic! These cards are generally powerhouses.

That seems especially weird because I thought the ultimate goal on Arena was to work toward historic becoming pioneer, but now they're chucking modern cards in there. Unless maybe some of 'em are ultimately going to be printed in such a way as to make them pioneer legal in the future.

Historic already has non-Pioneer stuff like Jumpstart.

And tbh Pioneer is kind of shit. But that's mostly because of busted Eldraine/ Theros crap like Thassa's Oracle.

Overall, more than power level, the most significant difference between the two is Historic is an Arena format and Pioneer is a paper format. Both formats dominated by Thoughtseize.

As long as it doesn't have wither I'm ok with it. I already upped my land destruction for those damn creature lands and the big world tree and whatnot. This game is so cool, and there is even more coming! \o/

supposedly anthology furthers vault progression, you might be able to burn some common/uncommon wc for 10% boost

There's a historic shakeup event going on, if you wanna go get a few rare historic ICRs. And the FNM of course. Snapped up the anthology with gems (I was autistic enough to figure out that it's more expensive in gems than gold, but not so autistic as to buy it in gold since the only fucking thing I use gems for is buying mastery passes anyway) but then I was a damn dirty casual and have yet to play with any of the cards and just made RDW to get my ICRs and run. Not that unusual though since I've been in a mild Magic-funk for quite a while now.

Damn it. I was looking at Mystic Reflection and getting a mild urge to jank, especially since it doesn't specify nontoken creatures, but then I was looking at creature token generation in standard and nothing's really catching my eye. Was figuring the best bet for target would either be Terror of the Peaks or Gray Merchant, slightly favoring merchant just because opponents are a little less likely to panic-slam removal on him, but since reflection needs the tokens to be a lump all at once nothing looked too great for 3+ tokens at once. Especially trying to handle blue and red or black.

Also been considering a giants deck just because I've pulled 3 Quakebringers so far. Blue/red has the clearest giant pairing from Kaldheim, but black/red may make more sense for quake. Binning cards so he can start spazzing out, and also giving me access to Kroxa as another giant that benefits from binning. Some blue shit can benefit from that a bit like cards that check for instants/sorceries in the yard, but probably better off just going for a janky black/red deck.

And now I've left this text in the box as I tossed together said janky deck and my first opponent was emergent ultimatium sultai and I slapped his shit, praise the giants. Winning card was because I included a few demonic embraces because I thought "Gee it sure would suck to have big giants and then get chump blocked" and they work well with all the binning cards anyway, and sure enough that was the ticket. Deny his epiphany so he didn't get an extra turn or a pair of birds to chump with, he exiles one giant with Tibalt, then the second giant flies in and smacks 'em. Potential drawback of course is casting demonic embrace on bonecrushers and dealing 5 damage to yourself, but depends on the match. Unfortunately feels too much like every other Rakdos deck I've played recently so I don't think I'll stick with it, just has the route of getting more giant smacks and pings for damage in. Dude also could've likely won had he not been as greedy. If he gave the option of a sweeper, Tibalt, and epiphany then denying epiphany would've let him clear my board, and if I allowed epiphany then he could draw a million cards off Tibalt and likely stabilize. Probably only won because he was on auto-pilot and picked Kiora's saga which did jack shit for him here.

Modern Horizons 2 has been bumped up alot, its coming out in June, instead of after the Forgotten Realms set. What effect will this have on other sets, like the Forgotten Realms set and Innistrad? Could they be delayed for some reason?

I think folks were expecting a Forgotten Realms set in July.

Or are they simply keen on increasing the amount of product released?

Could a new set have taken Modern Horizons 2's former slot, like a Commander Legends 2, a Universes Beyond set, or Jumpstart 2?

Have to disagree here. The pioneer meta is pretty fresh and versatile after recent bans.

Yes every black deck has thoughtseize, but that is more due to the fact that black lacks versatile disruption in general.

lol wait until there's an actual Pioneer tournament, you'll see that it's still all about Thassa's Oracle cheese. The format is degenerate until wotc bans Thassa's Oracle. When you give blue a 2 cmc win condition in a format that also has Dig Through Time and Treasure Cruise unrestricted.

I'm having a really hard time motivating myself to play lately, Historic is stale as fuck and the garbo anthology for sure did not help :/

Quite sad as I love my Yorion enigmatic incarnation shenanigans :(

my pact gifting is facing mainly boring elves and various shadow decks. Few yorions.
Id say its better than it used to, at least while people have fun with new stuff

I'm still experimenting with 5 colored decks right now. Stuck in the diamond rank weeds (without shrines which i find boring)

So tempted by Historic because I miss my gates deck so much. But I only play Traditional Standard for now, fewer cards is less work. I like getting a good feel for all the cards, I can predict most cards that people will play now in this format. Like if they play plains I know the lifegain deck, I am ready for it. If they are dimir it is the same asshole rogue mill deck I've seen for months. Etc. Green keeps me on my toes because there are so many new creatures and a lot of them are game changers. I saw a new card yesterday that was brutal against my deck, hope it doesn't catch on... But mostly I know the format now. Until the next set comes.

I am working my way back through diamond again but I'm a bit burned out too. I love my deck so much but every match is 30 minutes. It is fun but I should make a fast deck for getting through the ranks.

The latest update definitely stream-lined play styles imo. Decks seem a lot less complicated to read right now, mostly because everybody wants to use the same OP cards.

Yes some insane cards at the moment, they basically dictate the game.
