Why don't they create more than 3 types of enemies?
Darkspawn, spiders... uh... dragons.

FFS why do you lie!? There're so many enemies in the DA universe, I can barely count them all. Spectres, zombies, bandits, golems, mages, templars, kunari... numerous varieties of darkspawn, each with a specific look, feel and completely different tactics. It's like a smorgasbord of tactical gaming awesome that has only matured with time. The visceral animations and higher speed of the sequel really draw you into the combat and make each decision heart-in-your-throat tense, immersing you in the game. DA2 is truly one of the best games we've seen in ages. I, for one, cannot wait to see how the visionaries at Bioware continue to iterate on the masterpiece and evolve the genre through their DLC.

My derp buffer has just overflown so I will just cling to the last thing that managed to go through and proceed to laugh my ass off at covert plagiarism till I'm able to process additional incoming derp of biowarian origin.

Yep, it's the troll. The elf is even more far from the troll than Hawke.

Is that shield made of cardboard? What about that sword? Why is Hawke sweeping the floor in the middle of the battle?

Hopefully the next DLC will answer these questions. I can't wait to not buy this one while I don't wait for the next DLC. :o

I *think* the troll is holding the shield, but I could be wrong, that elf seems to have a sword bigger than his body, so who the hell knows. Of course, why would the troll run into battle with a giant shield and no weapon: that shield would prevent him from attacking anything. That troll has little arms and a shield bigger than himself.

I'm upset about the iron railing on the right side of the screenshot.
It has a pretty banal design.

I'm very upset about those columns in the background.

What the fuck are they supposed to be? What kind of art direction is that?

Everything after Doric, Corinthian and Ionic is banal, shit, boring. Only Greek column designs are truly aesthetic.

"I actually made that design myself way back in high school. Now, two years later, I feel I have really matured as a designer and you can see this by the way I have made the troll...er...darkspawn smaller and left off the body armour."

FYI that's the BioWare game designer for BioWare Austin (The MMOG), not BioWare Edmonton (Mass Effect and Dragon Age).

On topic, Is the AWESOME buttan MOAR awesome?

He actually worked on Deus Ex

The troll's weapon is the huge spiked knuckle on his right hand. I'm not sure who's holding the shield. If it's the elf (Fenris), maybe he's really like Cloud and can hold giant weapons because of magical strength, I dunno
I guess I just can't get over the gigantic shield coupled with the runty arms on that troll. It's like giving a midget a garbage can lid. Sure, it will protect him, but he is really hobbled with that he can do with that thing. Just staying on the other side of the shield seems like a pretty safe place to be. I mean, how the hell will he see who is on his right?

I see your point. The giant shield really breaks the sense of realism you get from playing DA2. It's like they threw their whole logical universe out the door.

The troll is definitely the one holding it -- the giveaway are the spikes on the shield, pointing outwards from the troll; if it were the elf's shield, he'd impale himself when blocking a good hit. Even Bioware isn't that stupid.

Or maybe they are

Meh, Bioware is so passe. As always, Bethesda did it first. Remember the imp concept art that cripple little fuck stole from one of the fantasy artists.

I noticed the spikes, but there are these pieces of metal on Fenris' side that look like you're supposed to put your hand through to hold the shield, and his hand is right above one of them. It probably belongs to the troll, though.

I love that they're recycling maps for paid DLC too.

Dumbfucks. Instead of trying their hardest to save this franchise and get real money from it again, they're trying to squeeze a few more bucks from the more loyal fans ?

I'll give you a hint: EA.

"Instead of trying their hardest to save this franchise..."

How very naive of you... Why bother? EA - they'll just squeeze it until it is no more financially feasible, then they'll discard it together with "studio" and move on to the next IP/developer... Like always.

I think BioWare going full retard and pissing off their fanbase can only be a good thing for RPG fans. While getting closed by EA is shitty and something that I wouldn't wish on a developer, there's no question in my mind that BioWare is going to be living behind a void that needs to be filled. The only other mainstream RPG developer after BioWare's EA-ification will be Bethesda (I'm not counting Obsidian because they're seen as a second-rate developer), so I think that leaves a lot more room for a better developer to move in on BioWare's turf.

At the very least consumers who like RPG's are going to have to look elsewhere for alternatives, and maybe that'll help indies out a bit.

What a nice wishful thinking you have!
Windows XP is much worse than Windows ME, so pissed consumers are going to have to look elsewhere for alternatives, and that will help Linux to conquer PC market- said bunch of linuxfags 10 years ago  .

Decliners gonna decline and shitty franchises gonna never die. Any doubts there will be such Fallout 5 and Dragon Effect 6, that will make F3 / DA2 look like decent games?

Imagine those furry-loving fags flooding indie RPG forums and - God forbid - this very Codex.

Why does the codex continue to make topics about the Duo Of Shit known as Bioware and Bethesda?
