What version are you playing? I've yet to see the alien assault plasma, so I'm wondering if I'm playing a different version, as in my playthrough, I seem to've surpassed this LPs current tech level in every other respect.

Then again, might it be caused by the "normal" difficulty I chose for my first playthrough?

There are a couple of bugs in the version I'm playing (and probably the one you're playing as well).
1) Alien Assault Plasma does not have an entry in items.xml, so it never "drops" after a mission. I fixed that by cloning the entry for alien rifle and renaming it. There's a thread on th eofficial forums explaining the bug.
2) Psions don't need line of sight to mindrape you. As longas ANY alien has LOS, they can make you heed the voice of Slaanesh. Which is going to make our next encounter with Caesans really painful.
3) The final mission is bugged. So we can't actually complete the game without upgrading to the experimental build. And if we upgrade, the save might become corrupted. :P

See above. The final mission is a buggy mess that likely as not is unsolvable. It's fixed (AFAIK) in the current experimental build. The one I'm using is from january '14. The joys of playing a beta :D

The carrier has a fairly wide gun arc. The missile launcher can one-shot a foxtrot and take 75% off a corsair. Everyone hits afterburners and scatters before it! the carrier seems to be tracking the corsair, so the first foxtrot makes a pass to get its missiles off.

But it can't turn sharply enough after getting missile lock. The torpedoes hit the target, but the Foxtrot gets a salvo of plasma fire and goes down in flames.

No matter. It had no ammo left. The second foxtrot swings in to make its pass from further away. Since the carrier is not interested in it, I also disengage afterburner and slow it down to lowest cruising speed.

The alien plasma cannon is researched, opening up MAG weapons. While the aliens can indeed fire 4 shots from a single clip with these, looted plasma cannons are only good for one shot by xenonauts. :decline:

Commander Comte... I'm not actually sure how he's made commander, as his performance has been mediocre at best. His aim Is the main issue, as he shoots like a lizardman. I'm tempted to let him inherit the laser murdershotgun and make him a backup Murderswede.

After a stint as Shotgun Murderswede and Riflebro, Commander Scrooge returns to sniper duty. She's 1 kill away from the Prestigious Order of Terra. She has shown great aptitude for stealing other peoples kills after they soften them up, so I've no doubt it is within her reach.

Captain Hellraiser has a quite respectable kills/missions ratio. Her brand new plasmacaster is fresh out of the forges of Mars. It'll be interesting to see what she can accomplish with it. Her old scatterlaser certainly brought an admirable amount of (A)wesome to the table.

Captain Kipeci has only managed 1 kill in 6 missions. It has been a combination of bad luck and caution on my part since he's fragile as fuck. 63 accuracy is nothing to scoff at though. Maybe all he needed was one of the new plasma rifles to shine. Time will tell.

Lieutenant Nevill has been a pretty solid performer so far. Probably one of our most reliable riflebros outside the Commander Core. I have high hopes his health and accuracy will continue to climb.

Lieutenant The_scorpion has been underperforming since he joined us. He simply isn't living up to his full potential. It MAY be because he joined us during the twilight days of laser weaponry. But I suspect that maybe he's just a little cowardly. Kill harder, or it's back to the shieldmaidens!

SmartCheetah is back out of the infermery. But we're running low on gear. Until MAG weapons enter production, she'll have to make do with a hand-me-down suit of armor and Scrooge's old laser rifle.

Lieutenant Nevill has been a pretty solid performer so far. Probably one of our most reliable riflebros outside the Commander Core. I have high hopes his health and accuracy will continue to climb.
Even in death I continue to serve. Such is my loyalty to Terra. :salute::lol:
