B.F.X. -mod
http://www.strategyfirst.com/forum/show ... hp?t=40654

+ Adds a lot of weapons and other stuff (most importantly large ammo boxes!)
+ Makes your cars more durable (It's very annoying to have them break down)
+ Contains most of the fixes in the unofficial patch
-/+ Changes the merc profiles (though apparently fixed/better in the latest version)

Unofficial patch
http://www.strategyfirst.com/forum/show ... hp?t=41508

+ Fixes most of the bugs/glitches (the memory leak related CTD remains)

HardLife -addon
http://www.strategyfirst.com/forum/show ... hp?t=40169

+ Lots and lots of content
+ Changes the way the game plays
- New content in russian only at the moment :(
- Not compatible with other mods

danke

links for BFX and official patch are identical in your post, though ;)

I'll stick to the BFX mod for now, sounds promising

btw the game crashes a lot for me, too and not just when my character gets killed. :/ I always get the same uninformative standard error message.
Any workarounds or configuration tweaks against that, yet?

Does it crash while you're in the shop, or when you explore boxes? Do you use the German version of the mod? Did it crash as much when plaing the original game?

If you use Vista/Win7 you are likely to experience more crashes, the reasons for these are unknown.

I sent you a PM with some other info that might be useful.

Forgot to say: Nice chapter Haba, already drooling in anticipation for the next one :D

Cheers mang

I'm using the english version, XP SP2 or 3.
Maybe the reason for the crashes is that my 6 year old computer may not be quite up for the task, the game is a bit choppy at times, but it's tolerable.
I doubt it, though, even if some games lag, they usually don't crash for me.

For tweaking, you can run the E6Config.exe in your game directory and set the graphics setting to the lowest possible. I've read that if you set the anti-aliasing to 2x the game is supposed to be more stable. But I guess that's dependant on graphic card/driver, but it could be worth a try.

When you play with BFX you can delete all lines in the AUTOEXEC file in the game directory. It will make the AI as dumb as in the original, but it will not use as much resources.

At the late stages of the game, there will be a lot of big battles and if you have a low end computer you will suffer a lot. The mod has fixed this a little by replacing the enemy grenades with ones that has less shrapnel and only does concussive damage.

The game is a resource-hog, and the less memory you have, the more often the memory leak will cause a crash. You could try and set your page file to 4gb min/max, it might also help a little bit with the memory leak crashes.

another thing, I have a problem with a quest
the third rebel quest where I am supposed to get explosives in Sagrada, who am I supposed to talk to and where is the person. Feels like I have talked to pretty much anybody but no dice. :x

This is what you should do:
First talk to one of the civilians, you'll get an option to ask about things that go boom. Then you should talk to the 'Student' standing outside the university, offer him money and he'll lead you to the explosives manufacturer. Talk to the manufacturer and set up a deal, then talk to the guy you escorted there in the previous misson, then back to Tanya.

goddamnit how am I supposed to win that stupid convoy mission? Those idiot rebels get killed like flies and rushing in will get my mercs killed
Is there some way to win or at least cheat through this bullshit mission?

I don't have any saves from before accepting that mission, either :gnasher:

On my run (4-5 more chapters) I didn't actually have much problem with the convoy... well, keeping my own mercs alive was more of problem than the rebels ;-)

I think most of the rebels come from the left flank, so if they lock in combat with the military from long enough distance, they won't move into range where they'll end up killed. At least in my game they stayed in the back for the most part (had to restart once when I opened up my left flank too much)

Yeah, that mission is kinda unbalanced :( Particularly since all the previous missions could be completed peacefully and you would have a little hands-on combat experience.

Good news is that you can fail this mission (and pretty much any other) and continue with the plot. Bad news is that you miss a couple of subsequent missions if you fail this one, and also make the future Ciudad-de-Oro mission, also a very nasty one, even harder.

Also, on an upcoming Ciudad-de-Oro mission - when doing it, pay particular attention that AI troops of the faction you're with do not ever harm either any civilians, or at least the unrecruited NPCs in a bar (100% sure with NPCs, needs verification with civilians). Due to peculiar faction relations issue, which we were unable to correct, this makes all recruitable characters latently hostile to your faction, and when you recruit anyone new (even by plot-driven necessity, i.e. Sebastian Pereira), this makes your faction hostile to your party, potentially breaking the game (you possibly may fix the relations by paying the drug baron, but that is a limited opportunity). So keep a save before Ciudad-de-Oro battle, and after the battle hire somebody and go to a friendly gvt/rebel area to check whether you're still at peace with them.

The convoy mission was to hard for me when solo playing the game. I tried 10 times and never got close. So I used the console command "ImmortalCheat 1" and reloaded (then you are immortal and your name is not CHEATER. And set to work, but I still failed 2 times at this mission even if I was immortal, because the stupid rebels are dying like flies.

But problem is, with the immortalcheat you have infinite fatigue and can sprint anywhere in the game which removes the huge amount of running from A-B that this game contains, so now I'm turning it on between combats as well :)

Yeah, I'm not playing this game right for sure...

You could set "low fatigue" or something at game start in difficulty settings, it allows to sprint way more without the need to cheat :)

Yeah, but I did not know then what I know now... And seriously, there is alot of long slow running in this game. Going to the rebels are almost a chore rather than a game...

That's where the + button is very useful, it speeds up game time and makes those long runs only take a few seconds.

I'm supposed to invade that one city with the natives and the mine for the rebels. Any tips strategywise? I have a few M4s, M14 snipers and a grenade launcher.
