Min-Jil: "Daddy, what's a space elvatator?"
Father: "A Space Elevator? Where did you hear about that Min-Ji?"
Min-Ji: "Space Elevator? At school. I heard Teacher talking about it. He seemed excited about it. The janitors too."
Father: "Teacher is excited about it, and so am I. It's like the elevators you use every day but much, much, bigger! So big it goes all the way up to space!"
Min-Ji: "We could ride it to space? Wow! That's cool!"
Father: "It is! It will help us build satellites and explore the moons! It's the first step traveling between the stars like when Chairman Yang and the other elders did to bring humanity here to Chiron."
Min-Ji: "I want to travel between the stars! The janitors said M&M and even the University don't like the Space Elevator. Why would anyone not like the Space Elevator?"
Father: <laughs> "Well Miriam and her Beleivers would prefer stairs!" <laughs again> "Morgan and Zakharov have been fighting too long. They're worried that the Drop Corp could use the Space Elevator to drop into their backyard from space."
Min-Ji: "The Drop Corp wouldn't want to visit those bozos! When can we ride the Space Elevator?
Father: <laughs> "No, they wouldn't, but long wars scare people and give them odd thoughts. As for us, it will be a while. Not until after you graduate, I'm afraid. The Hive Minds are still working on how to build it. Then the workers need to build it!"
Min-Ji: <tears up> "That long!?"
Father: "Now, don't fret! The workers are already gathering materials and making other preparations. When the Minds are done, the workers will be ready."
Min-Ji: "Yay!"

! News Flash !

The madman brought to heel at last!
Pravin Lal captured as "Peacekeeping" Forces eradicated by Hive expeditionary forces.
Chairman Yang was heard to say "Peacekeepers my ass. Attack the Univsity, attack Morgan! Phah Finally some peace and quiet!!" as Lal was locked into his Punishment Sphere.
I think we can forgive the chairman his brief breach of decorum!

Haven City leveled due to bio-hazard concerns. 9/10 streets "designated for shitting." Brave Hive troops fight nausea as well as hapless defenders in the final assault.
When questioned, General Lee said "It's amazing the "Peacekeepers" survived this long! Let me quote that madman, Lal, "We have indoor pluming! All shitting streets are under the dome. Technically, they are indoors!"

We look forward to the expeditionary forces' homecoming! After they endure a good detoxifying scrub, of course! Good job, Men!

Radio chatter during the Fall of Port Yara 2225:

Templar Colonel. Gabriel: Joe, take Fox company, set up a position on the western embankment and lay down suppressive fire! We've got more university soldiers approaching through the fungus!

Crusader Captain. Joseph: Ay ay, sir! *sounds of heavy machine gun fire*

Templar Colonel. Gabriel: This is it, brothers, we need to hold these sickos off as long as we can, every Believer at home is counting on us!

Crusader Captain. Aaron: There's too many of them, sir! We've been overrun *static* charlie, we are falling back to point bravo! *sounds of small arms fire*

Unidentified soldier: Where's our damn air support!

Templar Colonel. Gabriel: There ain't no air support! It's just us and God here!

Knight Adept. Andrew: The northern wall is gone, sir! Our artillery is no longer *static* *multiple explosions*

Unidentified background chatter: Hold the line! Hold the fu*static* line!

Crusader Sergeant. Jacob: Sir, we've managed to retreat most of our men! The last ship is heading out in 5!

Templar Colonel. Gabriel: Alright. Delta company, Bravo company, fall back in tandem to point alpha! Watch out for any Gaian spider holes. You're cleared to use any explosives you've got left!

Crusader Captain. Joseph: Running low on ammo, sir! These Uni bastards just keep coming!

Templar Colonel. Gabriel: Take your men and get back to the ship. Use whatever ammo you've got to cover Delta and Bravo's retreat.

Crusader Captain. Joseph: Sir what about-

Templar Colonel. Gabriel: Someone's gotta make sure the detonation sequence goes through. Gonna send this Gommora straight to hell along with every Gaian and University sicko in it. Now get outta here, soldier, that's an order.

Crusader Captain. Joseph: God be with you, brother.

Templar Colonel. Gabriel: And with you. "He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, making them an example to those afterward who would live ungodly lives..." God have mercy on my-*single tremendous explosion* *silence*

After multiple launches of the Mueller Orbital Heavy Lifter from the Budushii Dvor cosmodrome, the hub of the Stella Tesla station has been completed. Chiron’s first orbital facility provides an impressive view of Planet from its synchronous Clarke Orbit in addition to its primary purpose, which is power generation and transmission. A great achievement that proves the University is the rightful inheritor of the legacy left behind by space exploration pioneers such as Von Braun, Korolev and Mueller.

As the complex will be expanded in the cycles to come it is expected it will deliver as much as half of the energy needs of our faction by the end of the next decacycle. Viceprovost for industrial matters and chief rocket designer Hieronymous Feldt has not confirmed when the first expansion module known as Stella Tesla II will launch, only indicating that it will happen. It is known however that increased demand for point-to-point Von Braun C-variant passenger flights will translate into the expanding of aerospace infrastructure and thus increased cosmodrome capacity across our faction.

Custodes Inteltechs confirm that morganite executives envy the great achievement of our engineers as their so called “orbital spaceflight” technology has not allowed them to launch even the simplest of orbital probes. Furthermore the enormous power output of the new space station grants our faction a decisive economical edge which the greedy gnome of genocide Morgan can only dream of possessing.

In other news the Science Legion has confirmed that they have located the very last surviving Spartans.

The group was cut off from new supplies surviving off fungus and cannibalized equipment for decacycles. It is believed it was once a xenoarcheological escort group protecting a progenitor artefact. They never received the order to commit suicide, instead they clung to life in remote fungal fields performing their duty to the no longer existing barbaric state without question decacycles after the mass suicide of their high command.

bWNMO0X.png

Cyborg legionaires were sent in to retrieve the artefact and capture the Spartans alive for study, the artefact has been successfully recovered. Unfortunately the Spartans ingested hidden cyanide capsules upon capture, expiring shortly afterwards. This loss of living specimens has been greeted with much disappointment by the University Base Menagerie, which has already begun preparing suitable enclosures in which the specimens of the now extinct branch of intellectually inferior hominids would be displayed to the public.

Some Menagerie ticket buyers have already demanded their credits back, but the Zoological Society running the Menagerie has assured them that they should keep the tickets as it is expected Believing and Morganic specimens will soon become available at the facility for the amusement of the general population.

kes2YIh.png

The last believing forces left on the continent Alpha mainland have been eradicated. Most fled via naval means shortly before the base was demolished, although not without first sustaining heavy casualties from repeated missile bombardments. Without Morganic air support due to the deployment of our Triarii surface to air missiles for use with the Korolev missile launching system, the superstitious foe was easy prey for our 12 cohorts of elite cyborg assault infantry besieging the base.

Clvoffr.png

Further supported by multiple artillery batteries, tactical rockets, Orca VTOL gunship squadrons, psionic cohorts and custodes combat engineers the enemy was incapable of repelling the biggest offensive seen since planet fall. With all mainland bases eradicated without even having to step inside the base the science legion now sets its eyes on other targets that are a threat to mankind. Knowledge is power which has been fully demonstrated in our war against the corporate and superstitious invaders. Science will prevail.

q2AP1wN.png

University can into space and got there first since planetfall. Not surprising since I got aerospace complexes and managed to get an artefact from Brozil that granted me the tech unlocking both the Xenoempathy Dome AND Orbital Power Stations at the same time in the Binary Dawn mod. I also think it increased my fungal energy production to +2. Best deal!

I could have gotten it earlier but I need to get some elite Orcas out first after the complexes were done. 5 range on copters in this mod is crippling, 6 is a bit better.

The offensive dragged on longer than expected, mistakes were made, lessons were learned. I had something between 20 to 30 units on the front, with more being built and sent every turn.

The issue was it is totally impossible to do anything about ground units stacked with jets without air superiority which I really needed 20 turns earlier, ground units can just hide under the jet and can't be attacked without it. That and the perimeter in Yara was a problem, in the end though I did not need to attack the base with my ground troops.

Also was really surprised when I noticed that Spartan artefact, it was sitting there in fungus for 30 or 40 turns. But I did see Sparta has it in the faction unit roster somehow on the infiltration screens, despite being eradicated.

This is Morgan Mediabreak! You give us neural access, we'll give you Planet!

Tripled production of Morgan Gen-Warrior Legions, military drills and corp-wide martial law is now the name of the game as all Morganic subsidiaries have been ordered to CORPCON 2 to resist the rising tide of anti-marketism! The executive order came shortly after the Class 1 intrusion alert in the fungal fields east of Morgan Yacht Club where three entire University commando teams were hiding in repulsive "symbiosis" with the infestation just outside sensor tower range.

[cut to hideous xenoempathic footage]

The insolent incursion was fortunately thwarted by the rigorous patrols of Morgan Top Gun pilots, whose dedicated bombing smashed the enemy formations with ease and allowed our eager flame-tank crews to incinerate the rest. All infiltrators - dead and otherwise - will of course be appropriately desecrated for YOUR enjoyment in a special upcoming broadcast of Morgan Arena! Commenting on the situation, CEO Morgan: "Mad-dog Zakharov has really done it this time, taking a holo-page out of Santiago's old playbook by not only attempting to steal our technology, and failing miserably at it, but also to menace Morgan Yacht Club, where I once lost so many good friends! Well old chap, not today!"

[empathic memorial footage of the Morgan Yacht Club terrorist bombing]

In other news, Morgan Industries is taking swift measures to gain complete immunity to hostile insertions from orbit. According to leading MorgTek experts, the heavy contragrav pods needed to perform drops by utilizing the anticipated "Space Elevator" are so crude that even the least proficient pilot could shoot them down. Rather than to waste credits on additional Top Gun schools, or as the University are reportedly doing, mass-building exorbitant Aerospace Complexes, a couple of dozen squadrons of the incredibly inexpensive Morgan MegaBux Budget-Class "Beta Orbiter" interceptor will achieve the same effect at a fraction of the price.

At the press conference, Morganic spokesmen reassured the shareholders that Morgan Industries and the Human Hive naturally remain the very best of friends, neighbours and business partners, and that the measure was prompted solely by the grave risk that "Hive technology might one day fall into University hands, whose wicked masters would love nothing more than to rain death and terror upon the innocent!" A most realistic and critical threat given their insane, albeit inefficient warmongering to this date. Coming up next, Morgan Megapolis, the first Morganic sea-base and future paradise resort. But first, a corp-wide service announcement.

This is Morgan HR. We remind all sub-talent employees to report to their direct superiors for this decade's mandatory nerve stapling.

Remember: A smooth operation is everyone's responsibility.

Noble allied Hive forces continue to push forward into the territory controlled by our regressive foe. After the last cycle success of eliminating the no doubt malevolent psionic machinery known as the Neural Amplifier via a surprise air drop, the forces of Chairman Yang bring with them a light of hope that will enlighten us in the new era. A new era where Chairman Yang, supreme ruler of Planet, removes the chains of old Erath ideologies such as corporate greed and religious superstitions. A new era where we, the University, unlock secrets of the universe under the Chairman's enlightened rule over mankind. A mission year zero for mankind.

[transition to speech by Zakharov]

Zakharov: ...first however, the old and obsolete has to be removed. The purging of the regressive factions of continent beta must take place, so that those factions guilty of genocide via chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction cannot cast the shadow of ignorance and barbarism on human civilization any longer. The branches of hominids inhabiting those factions, the homo corporaticus and homo religiotardus, are destined for extinction in the wild while their leaders, Warlord Morgan and Fanatic Miriam, are to pay for their crimes against humanity and progress. They after all represent and seek to proliferate the worst ideologies of mankind that with all certainty lead to the extinction of intelligent life on our Homeworld. They must be stopped!

[transition back to studio]

w5K9jcg.png

The Ulam Fusion Institute has begun mass production of fusion reactors. The technology which was obtained via the study of the Spartan remnant's artefact allows our engineers to provide nearly unlimited power to our infrastructure and machinery. The Spartan savages were no doubt unaware of the true potential of the xenotech in their possession, which was no doubt to the benefit of all of mankind.

One of the first more ambitious applications of the fusion reactor technology is the construction of the new flagship of our Navy - "The Unity". The Unity will be a dreadnought armed with a truly novel weapon which requires such power - the Tesla Arc Gun plasma weapon system currently in final testing phases. With this new armament and its impressive armour plating it is expected no vessel on Planet will be able to go toe to toe with the Unity and thus it will help our faction maintain naval domination over the eastern ocean to the south of Zha'ha'dum Mare.

While the navy reports that enemy contacts are now sporadic, this cycle only a believing isle of the deep was located and purged near the island of Gaia's Second Landing, naval supremacy is essential to achieving a victory by the forces of progress. While our navy has been undefeated in the past decacycle, sinking multiple enemy vessels with no losses of its own, we cannot underestimate the treachery of the regressive foes. Overconfidence bring negligence which leads to failure. Failure is not an option.

In other news...

...the double penetration initiative of the Svarog Mohole Consortium yields first results as both University Base and Planetary Archives gain their second operational boreholes increasing energy and raw material output to record levels.

...families of lost field researchers executed unjustly under fabricated charges of espionage have received aid from faction authorities allowing them to cope psychologically and materially with the tragic loss of their loved ones. Yet another crime of Morgan's for which he has to pay.

...the first Stella Tesla II component launch has been scheduled for next decicycle, completion of the expansion module's assembly in orbit is expected during the next cycle.

Man, this is one heck of a hellish world for humanity you guys have created so far :brodex:

Any chance to have some sort of map for the peanut gallery? I admit I'm finding it difficult to see past the propaganda and understand how the factions actually compare in-game and who's winning or losing :D

Perhaps Kalin or Hellraiser can post screenshots for you, but power rankings as of my (Hive) last turn:
1. Hive
2. University
3. Morgan
4. Believers
5. Gaians

Hive leads in all categories: Tech, Mil (questionable - I have had more garrison units than average all game), Pop, Wealth (everyone else spending all their dosh), Territory, Overall

The sneak attack on Morgan Paramount Mining had sent the corporation into a frenzied stage of total war. The attack itself had been quite costly for the Hive, with even basic Flame Tanks and the prototype ProsperWave Cruiser eliminating entire attacking units, but such losses were likely insignificant to the Chairman. The Amplifier was gone, and two boreholes with it. A heavy blow, but not critical. More alarming was the obvious intent of the Hive to penetrate the secure data-vaults. In face of the large number of Hive commandos accompanying the advance force, the CEO had concluded that the frontier bases were simply too exposed. The answer, of course, had been a rapid reorganization to consolidate assets. Some employees had to be terminated as a result, but such were the hazards of high-stakes business.

"...and with anti-air squads, CorpSec Brotectors and A.I.M. Access Deniers having reinforced our Regional HQ, the north-eastern restructuring is now complete. As for the enemy, we have dealt them a number of minor blows. We sunk their advance foils, and our missile strike took out their Isle of the Deep. Also, the Hornet Bomber Squadron targeting our borehole was preemptively destroyed, albeit with minor losses on our side. In face of this, the Chairman seems content to simply hold his ground for now."

"Awaiting reinforcements I presume."

"Yes sir, but even then, they are taking their sweet time. Probably waiting for their Space Elevator, as well as the new Dream Twister project. They seem to feel invulnerable, and what with the University backing them up, who could fault them?"

"We'll see how long that lasts. If Zakharov is dumb enough to think Yang will spare him or his pet in their "Brave New World" then he's in for a rude awakening. As the good Sister said: Yang will drop him into a recycling tank and turn him into feed for the same drones he stapled."

"Almost makes this whole mess worth it, sir. If only we could be there to see it."

"Don't be daft, son! We're winning this vendetta! CEO Morgan has personally ordered the complete destruction of the enemy!"

"B-but sir, the odds of victory, they-"

"Connect the odds! The Holy Market finds a way! Now, as for that damn battleship, deploy the Pestulator Artillery and call for Siege Tank support. The CEO wants it obliterated and this damn blockade lifted yesteryear!"

"SIR!"

Very nice attack, didn't expect it, but then I didn't know about the University having surrendered to the Hive in secret. This was a turn or so after the first strike, Hive units dropped in from the forward sea base. There was no way I could get enough probes into the flanking bases, so it was time for layoffs. Of course, now the Hive has a ton of units in Sea Collective, and I have no way to get out until I clear away the enemy. Very frustrating, to say the least.

By the way, I certainly didn't expect the alliance against us. The University was really pulling ahead, enjoying the benefits of the Cyborg Factory (instant elites with the right choices) and the Weather Paradigm. There was also the naval project which grants naval units elite status and extra moves. Really, there was no way I could take that on this early in the game even if I wanted to.

Our little enrichment campaign against Gaia was a good opportunity because of the sunspot activity. The goal was simply to get rid of the University's puppet that could feed it cash and to speed up TURN. Amusingly, it seems to have led Hellraiser to fear a massive invasion of his territory. I sent one transport worth of units across the sea as well as a bunch of jets he was immune to anyway on account of unlocking Aerospace Complexes. Despite this, he overinvested something fierce in unit production and deployed yuge stacks of elite units to repel the invasion force that was totally real in his mind.

So the whole Hive probing University thing a couple of turns back? Yeah that never happened, Hellraiser just gave Grimgravy tech out of its own volition. Ever since Merc quit the game I've been third in power. Suffice it to say that I did not expect the two leading powers to unite against the underdogs.

So what are our prospects of winning? Frankly, next to none. AgentOrange did very well against Hellraiser in the field, but early on he made a lot of mistakes and his bases are quite gimped as a result. I never really recovered from the sacrifices made during the Spartan invasion either. Still not going to surrender, though. If you want my precious yehzah you have to come and pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Kalin, tbh based on both where the factions landed as well as each faction's ability (ie. Morgan sucking compared to everyone else), MI/ Sparta was your natural ally and Hellraiser/ Uni was your fated nemesis. Morgan can't outfight either Hive or Uni, so until you got rid of both of them, you were at best playing for 2nd, and the best way for you to get rid of Hive and Uni was to ally with Sparta instead of stepping on Sparta's neck. If you had gotten rid of Uni, then at least Morgan would potentially have the tech lead on the remaining factions. As for Hive, Hive arguably has the most powerful advantages of any of the factions while Morgan is saddled with two awful penalties, there's almost no chance a Morgan player can outfight a good human Hive player 1 on 1. An endless war against Gravy/ Hive and Uni was already going to chew into Sparta's early lead, especially given how poorly MI was playing Sparta. Once Hive is eliminated, you could have then rallied Brozil and AO to commit gangrape on Sparta.

Remember to uncheck Co-op victory next time.

Clearly Gaia is the most honorable faction in the game. They never declared wars nor ever betray anyone. Gaia fully deserve this co-op victory. It must taste bittersweet but such is life as the underdog.

:troll:

Let us never forget their finest moments in this game:

Brethren! Stakeholders! Vile infidels listening in to this most holy broadcast! As you well know, I stand before you a new creation, reborn in the light of truth and the flames of purity! After I was baptized by my good friend Sister Miriam Godwinson my eyes were opened at long last! Prior to my cleansing I was the "big man" - but in spirit I was the lowest of all, no better than an unwashed drone or a soulless genejack! At times, I even accused the Almighty - why do you torment me? Why did you allow my Free Market to fall? What is wrong with you, that you bring me this bad juju? How prideful I was! And how foolish!

As our redeemer said: "It is easier for an enricher terraformer to go through the eye of a surgical needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God" - and no man on Chiron was richer than yours truly! Yet with FAITH and the Lord's help I prevailed. My wealth? I gave it all up. It is true, I tell you! All my stocks and possessions I have offered to Morgan MegaChurch, elected by the grace of God to supervise the corporeal possessions of Yashua Messiah! I know you are suffering, brethren - the scrapping of our recreation centres to fuel the war was a hard pill to swallow, but if I could give away everything, surely you can all give something! Besides, it is not for naught - I sacrificed much, yes, but I gained something far greater in return: favour in the eyes of the Lord God, and all the blessings that entail!

KupTuGH.png

I have made many good deals in my life, but let me tell you, none of them could top this! With the blessings of Yahweh, our war for survival is finally turning in our favour! Through a mighty miracle of terraforming we have raised the terrain around beleaguered Morgan Docking, allowing our dedicated boys and girls to march across the divided sea like our Israelite forefathers marching out of Egypt! For the first time since the demonic despot Yang was beguiled by Zakharov the Serpent to assault us we are now taking the fight to enemy's doorsteps. I am proud to report that our Corp-Sec Siege Tanks and Pestulator Artillery have already brutally shelled the repulsive slave-pit "Sea Collective", inflicting massive damage and preparing that accursed target for exterminatus. Praise be!

gyYnFNz.png

But wait, brethren - That is not all! Mere moments after I had embraced the Truth™ our sorely pressed brothers and sisters received another amazing blessing. In a daring raid upon the blasphemous and bloated Hivites, anonymous business angels secured critical technological data straight from the demon's den, sharing with Morgan Industries detailed blueprints for a terrible new weapon - the Dream Twister! Utilizing the full strength and vitality of our sacred business enterprise I ordered all resources to be allocated towards the completion of this mighty project, this horror of horrors! As expected with the Lord God on our side, we just beat the slothful anti-Christ Yang to the punch! This was Yashua's work, brethren, and we are most fortunate indeed to be able to witness the imminent fulfillment of Isaiah's grand prophecy.

"Wail ye; for the day of Yahweh is at hand; as destruction from the Almighty shall it come! Therefore shall all hands be feeble, and every heart of man shall melt: and they shall be dismayed; pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman in travail: they shall look in amazement one at another; their faces shall be faces of flame! Behold, the day of Yahweh cometh, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy the sinners thereof out of it."

-- Isaiah 13:6-9, Morgan MegaChurch HoloBible

Yes! Only managed to rush this because AgentOrange pulled off a spectacular probing expedition and also sent me his saved up cash. Not the tech we wanted, actually, but it turns out you can't do targeted tech-steals in PBEM. Still good to grab the project, particularly as Grimgravy has his unholy throng of demon boils en route.

Here's the hot spot and the bombardment business. My shitty beta orbiters are blocking the inlet every turn and take a lot of casualties, but it's all I can do to prevent probing. As for Hellraiser, he's been quiet so far. Built a bunch of new bases, and Gaia is starting to regrow like a weed. Those elite doomstacks have so far eluded us. ITZ coming sooner or later though, I can feel it.

Edit: Also yes, they forced me off market those bastards! Crime of all crimes! All pops nerve-stapled to enforce loyalty, except one base where drones are immune. I don't think stapling will work much longer, might have to slap up some punishment spheres. Funny thing is, even with subpar green economy I make 3 times as much dough as Gravy when I go full economy. Of course, I don't have his industry bonus, and he's leaps ahead in terms of infrastructure, so... Yeah. Uphill battle for sure.
