When I praise a Codex fave like AOD I get my dick sucked and a billion brofists.

When I RIGHTLY slam a Codex like LOG I am a troll and everyone starts crying.

L0L

Typical Codex. Typical Codex proves that it is like any other forum.

Yet, you even agree with 2 of my major points. LMAO

"Movement system is just like it was in the older games of the genre. Exploration is fine as are the graphics and music. Stop being a dumbfuck... although for you I know that's quite the challenge."

I've played and enjoyed more than a few of the earlier games. This is not as good as them. Period.

Wow, now you're even contradicting yourself, suddenly one of your minor points becomes a major point.

I recommend that you play through the entire game at least once. At the very least it should give you more fuel to slam the game with.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
I remember enjoying Dungeon Master back in the day, and even sort of liking Part 2. I don't know what makes Grimrock so boring. I guess with that sort of graphical opulence you could expect at least some NPC's, maybe shops, side-quests.
I played the hell out of DM, CSB and DM2, and while I will state categorically that I like this game, I was hoping that it was either just like DM with the magic system and leveling, updated to modern systems. It's not, it seems like it brought over a bit of DM, but didn't have enough of it's own flavor. That is, it feels like a DM clone that is wanting of it's own identity.

Some other nitpicks: Screens are a lot bigger nowadays, and running this game at 1680x1050 or so has a lot of wasted space, or too much space showing too little, if that makes sense. The interface could have been reworked with everything you need on the screen, with space left over.
We are treated to the same puzzles as DM, which is good, but not a lot more flavor. That is, I've seen the push button timed puzzles and pressure plate traps a thousand times already. I like some of the traps to add to the challenge, but I'm looking for some innovation.

I read part of the preview/interview with Grimrock devs and they said that they're gonna implement difficulty setting for reflex and speed demanding puzzles because they were too hard for some people, and the hardest puzzles will be optional. Fucking decline. :decline:

Typical Volourn.

Yep.
I've played and enjoyed more than a few of the earlier games. This is not as good as them. Period.

No one claimed it was as good as them. It's a solid homage. But you saying it's 'shit' is moronic edginess. Period.

My love only retards like Grimrock around here, that terrible terrible combat cha cha sim.

I remember when you used to be a half-way decent poster.

Is the above code for 'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Yup it is.

Don't be so butthurt over someone hating on a subpar game.

No, it's plain English for mocking you revising your thoughts every other post. After a decade on the Codex you still act like a twelve year old. Surely you have to be in your late twenties by now. Of course you still haven't mastered the elusive skill of the quote function so maybe brain damage is to blame.

I use the correct quoting method. Not the fake internet bullshit version.

That's not decline. You should be asking yourself "Why don't some puzzles have multiple ways of solving them, or avoiding them altogether?" I am playing this game now and what I thought would be a DM clone type rpg is turning into a puzzle game with minimal rpg elements. There is some stuff they should be working on, and it's not making the puzzles easier, but making it more rpg like in the approach. I'm only on level 5 or so but I have this feeling that if there was a levitate spell implemented by someone to allow folks to fly over pits, the game would crash.

Yeah, the final boss was pretty damn disappointing. It's too bad.

I'm planning to give the MasterQuest version a go sometime.

Well, say what you want, but I felt the ending was at least original and kind of an interesting fight. It wasn't your typical big bad wizard or whatever, and for that I was grateful. I really hope they do a sequel.

I didn't say he was disappointing. I mean, it could have been something more tactically interesting, but fuck it, just let me beat the game already

I found the bones, but I had to go back and reload from that level once I found out about the secret. The shape of the bones bore an uncanny resemblance to the player remains in DM, so I should have thought of trying to resurrect him.

Toorum's remains can also be found in the Master Quest and resurrected there.

Infinitron : If you decide to play the Master Quest mod, you can import your party from your previous session. Just keep in mind that the MQ mod has level scaling.

No thanks, I think I've had enough of real time blobbery for the time being.

I thought the final boss was pretty appropriate... at least in a comedic sense. In a tile based blobber what else would be deadlier? Also Toorum mode or GTFO.

I played it on hard immediately after my first playthrough. Funny enough it's actually easier -- mostly because he moves extremely fast.

I never did finish, got to level 9 and gave up. Are the later levels of the dungeon any more interesting? Is it worth playing through to the end? It's a pretty fun game but it got repetitive after a while.

You should try Dungeon Master, then if you want your ass fucking kicked off and handed back to you, try Chaos Strikes Back.

Level 9 is essentially the last full level. There are another couple of levels but they are very short and wrap up the game.
