massive majority of gun murders are done with handguns, typically using a small caliber
focusing on "spree shootings" is inherently disingenuous as they make up an extreme minority of all gun homicides
any legislation focused upon such is therefore based entirely on emotions and not statistics

Also, he's being (probably on purpose) disingenuous with his argument. The stopping power of a gun is important for stopping, not killing. All firearms are lethal, but it's important to put someone down fast to stop them from shooting back at you rather than shooting you then bleeding out.
