I can't believe I am replying to you... I am sure it is a mistake.

It is. Volourn is a kind of a phpBB malfunction exclusive to the Codex. It randomly inserts irrelevant bullshit which nobody - least of all the malfunction itself - needs to be answered.

The government suffers from the same problem as the corporate structure.... short term gain/results and no long term vision.

How is crediting negroes a short term gain? They could just write that cash off from day one, for chrissakes.

This debate on economics is 10x more exciting than IWD2 & TOEE combined.

Anyone who thinks Troika would have gone out of business no matter what their publishers did are living in Denial Land. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Actually Troika have nly themselves to blame for making buggy games. yes ToEE was mostly publishers fault; but even then it would still have been buggy. Arcanum was buggy as hell.

Troika focused a bit too much on haing 'fun' instead of actually working. Thus they were closed down, though I do hope they return wiser for their experiances. Arcanum 2, a professionaly produced product withmore polish would be great.

Livonya, borrowing now to stabilise the economy is a way of staving off or at least dampening an economic crash that will cost more money in the long run than falling deeper into debt now. Of course only if applied right. And personally I think the people who profited from the bubble for years should be the ones paying for fixing the mess.
Anyway, go derail!

ToEE in principle has far better combat, although as it crashes repeatedly on my machine (with or without official/unofficial patches) I can't in all honesty say I prefer it.

IWD2 was fun - I didn't mind the visiting Chult bit or time travel weirdness too much, that damn forest maze was the worst bit by far. Isair and Madae were also slightly better and more complex villains that the one-dimensional demon guy (Behlifet?) in IWD1.

3 different publishers. 3 different games. The very same developer. One out of business developer. What's the common theme? The developer. Case closed.

Both BIO, and Obsidian managed to survive, and even prosper working with Atari. LMAO

Arcanum:

"Furthermore, the game's copy protection software, SecuROM, caused system-component conflicts with particular brands of sound cards and CD-ROM drives."

Temple of Elemental Evil:

"The game went gold on September 4, 2003, 19 days before it was originally intended to be shipped."

Bloodlines:

"The second version of Bloodlines shipped on November 16, 2004, the same day that Half-Life 2 was released. Valve's first-person shooter, a hugely successful sequel, sold four million units by 2006[2]. The original Half Life had itself sold 12 million units by then.[2] Earlier release plans were to postpone until Spring 2005 so that Bloodlines would not compete against a sequel to a blockbuster, with a large advertising budget and ready made loyal following during the already competitive Christmas season.[3]

Bloodlines sales underperformed in the first few weeks, selling 72,000 units ($3.4 million)[4] despite generally favorable reviews"
