- installation size (all 3 games together, 120 GBs, that is like 5-6 days 24hrs/day non stop download with my connection)

Meanwhile in Italy..........*dial-up sound in the background*

Yeah I'm in the countryside.
No optic fiber here yet.
I could possibly try solutions with mobile-technology - I still haven't summoned the energy to contact someone who might set it up, do the necessary cabling to feed the router and so on.
Or, I don't know, starlink?

You mean tethering? Can be done through bluetooth, or a USB cable between phone and PC.

Well possibly, I don't know the terms. I'm totally out of the loop with these things.

I was told that I could install an antenna to connect as smartphones do. I'd have to find a suitable place outside (because reception inside sucks), and then figure out a way to bring the signal inside.
So far I've been postponing the project.....

It might be called other things, depending on language and phone brand. I use it whenever my normal internet connection is not working.

Basically you use the phone as a modem for the PC. No need for extra hardware, unless your phone has a bad connection too.

well yes phone is kinda bad. Works in some parts of the house.
I'd have nothing against installing an external receiver anyway, when/if I get around to that.... Fiber may even reach this place before I do that, sometimes I'm the laziest of the lazy.

That said, I made some room on my SSD and started downloading this thing.
3 GBs in a couple of hours, could be worse.
I realized it'll take me far longer to figure out ME modding and coming up with a modlist, so download time is sort of a moot point anyway.... :):?

The essentials are the community patches for each game (1, 2, 3) and MELLO to restore dynamic lighting in ME1. May take a while to download though. :|

Download completed.
5-6 days almost non stop.
From now on I'm keeping a Steam Backup copy on the ordinary HDD for huge games like this, lesson learned.

Maybe we should have discouraged you more, the game is not worth all this trouble.
No it's fine, I know the game, played it ages ago. I dig the atmosphere.
And I'm curious about the remaster and mods.
It took some waiting but Steam did all of the downloading after all

I finally understand why Italy accepts all of those refugee boats from Africa. They're carrying your data packets, aren't they?

Each boat has a transmitter that creates a relay system for data transfers. If the boats stop, the internet dies.

I mean there might be workable alternatives at this point, I just haven't bothered finding one yet.
But nowadays everywhere is like "just download this little 30 GB file" for every little thing. It's becoming an issue indeed.

BTW, I'm actually proceeding with mods.
Had all kinds of troubles with the launcher, though, before that.
The EA app through Steam flat out hangs as soon as the game starts.
The ONLY solution I've found was to download the old Origin launcher, that still works.... Except EA tries to force you to update to the app again when you use it.
So you need a "crack" to let the Origin launcher "impersonate" the EA app.

Then I found out you need to disable the overlays for mods, but Steam force-starts it if you use Origin instead of the EA app.
So you have to manually remove a DLL...

I suspect I am too old for this shit. But the game starts now....

Same here, I've just started replaying original ME1 myself (I'll post a negative review as soon as I've finished) and the EA app made both the game and Windows hang after just a couple of minutes. The solution I found is to enable In-game Overlay in the app: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-Mas...that-EA-App-has-replaced-Origin/td-p/12379256

But didn't you play the remastered version, does that one make the EA app hang too?

Yes, Legendary Edition, it doesn't even start.
The launcher thinks for a while, the screen changes and then you're back to the launcher itself with no game having actually started.
The Origin installer trick was needed for the vanilla game already, at least in my case.

First is worth but the only good one. Story and gameplay go right off the rails in 2 and never recover.

As much as the Codex has gone to shit, at least theyre OK in this.

I 'member when tards would argue here that ME2 is better than the original

equipment management is much better in 2. the first game was an endless stream of never ending junk loot

Equipment management is non-existent in ME2 :P

Dealing with equipment in the first game is one of the worst busywork activities i've had in vidya. Simple loadout management of ME2/3 works better for a pop a mole shooter game with dialogue.

See, you have to invent ri-goddamn-diculous newspeak like "equipment management" to find something that the sequels are supposedly better at.

Just. Dont.
