Everyone's real quick to exchange niceties with the newfag, but let's wait and see what his opinions on

1) Turn-based vs RTwP?
2) Infinity Engine games from best to worst?
3) What do you think about each installment in the FO series? When does the decline start?
4) ELEX?
5) Top ten RPGs?

before we just welcome him in with open arms.

EDIT: Followups,

6) Underrail and AoD? Have you played, and if so, impressions?
7) Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2, opinions?
8) Disco Elysium?
9) Do you enjoy any blobbers, and if so, which?
10) Which Elder Scrolls games, if any, do you like?
Welcome Peachcurl . Would you be so kind to answer these questions too?

Thanks for the welcome. Let's see.

1) [Turn-based vs RTwP]
*Both can work well in party-based games. Both are better than slow motion, although it worked somewhat in Tower of Time.
*Both have little purpose in single-controlled-character games (Example: shooter-hybrids like Fallout 3. Thank god VATS was optional). I also don't like the somewhere-in-between system that Vaporum used.
*TB: balancing needs to limit the amount of time a battle takes, and the player needs to be able to disable/speed-up animations.
*RTwP might get away with larger group sizes (both the player's group as well as enemy).
*TB: AI has to be good enough to account for player-time spent on planning of turns / moves
*RTWP: AI design needs to respect that even the most meticulous player will not be able to do as much micro-management.

2) [Infinity Engine games from best to worst?]
BG1 > P:T > BG2 > IWD1 > IWD2
P:T is the more interesting setting and the better story, but I'll go for the polish of BG1.

3) [What do you think about each installment in the FO series? When does the decline start?]
I'll just answer this as the previous question, to avoid a wall of text.
F2>F1>F:NV>F3>F4>F:BoS
Never played any of the other games in that series.

4) [ELEX?]
Yes. Please.

5) [Top ten RPGs?]
In no specific order: Planescape: Torment, Witcher 3, Fallout 2, Arx Fatalis, Baldurs Gate 1, Diablo 1, Gothic 2, Knights of the Old Republic 1, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Lands of Lore.

6) [Underrail and AoD? Have you played, and if so, impressions?]
AoD was great fun, interesting setting, and spears rock. I started Underrail, but it felt clunky and slow to me, never got far beyond the starting area.

7) [Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2, opinions?]
Like the first one, despite horrible balance. Stopped early and never finished the second one, I don't remember why.

8) [Disco Elysium?]
Did not play.

9) [Do you enjoy any blobbers, and if so, which?]
Lands of Lore (see (5) ) is a bit of a thing for me. It may be nostalgia, but I replayed it 3 times which is more than any other blobber. I'm glad they saw a bit of a revival with games like Grimrock. I'll even dare to say I like Bards Tale IV, although they should have toned down the riddles a bit.

10) [Which Elder Scrolls games, if any, do you like?]
I never played anything before Morrowind, I think. Morrowind was very enjoyable. I stopped Oblivion after some stupid and boring escort side quest (may be unfair to judge based on that, but that's where I left it). Skyrim was OKish.
Light and shadow.

I really don't get how you played F4 and Bos.
KotoR 1 in best Top 10 rpgs is balanced out with the amazing Arx Fatalis. That was great fun.
Good that you didn't play Disco but you should really play Underrail now. It's brilliant.

Have a pleasant stay. You're good.

You say you really like this place a lot.

The real question is, does this place like you a lot?

Nope, the real question is, how far away is his first meltdown and ejection. There has to be a math for that

Only a NEET can produce so many alts in just a few days.
It's like that movie where a single guy has 17 personalities.
Now I see alts in every newfag's face

I haven't seen this many people paranoid about alts since the last time I made the mistake of visiting the GameFAQs forums

There is a certain person here who's known to spawn many alts during a period of emotional breakdown.
You had the unfortune of registering during one such exclusive event.
Personally I think you're an alt, time will tell

So the OP likes INVISIBLE WAR more than DX? This is worse than the turn based opinion.

But then again everyone around here is a storyfag these days so what's one more trash opinion.

The original hasn't aged well imo. This game is from a time before we even had context sensitive buttons. It just feels clunky. It was amazing at the time though. The newer ones all encourage and reward stealth too much and that makes them less fun to me. There's no melee outside of QTE shit in the new ones either. At least Invisible War had fun augs. The only reason people hate on it is because every weapon used the same type of ammo, which I don't really care about.

I remember the name but I missed on the drama.

But I remember Drog , he was a dedicated Arcanum patcher and then became patron saint of internet trolls

The only reason people hate on it is because every weapon used the same type of ammo, which I don't really care about.

Nice bait!

Only reason?

Not only was the gameplay massively dumbed down, the game was a technical mess.

Tiny xbox scaled maps, loading screens everytime you took 2 steps and the god awful low res textures (even for 2003).

1) RTwP for cRPGs. Turn based is for JRPGs and strategy games
2) Planescape: Torment, BG2, BG1, Throne of Bhaal, wasn't super into either Icewind Dale and barely remember them. IWD felt kind of half assed and lame playing it after BG2. I missed the companion banter and class kits.
3) Didn't play the first two because I don't like turn based cRPGs. 3, New Vegas, and 4 are shit. I beat all three of them and couldn't tell you a single thing about them because nothing was memorable.
4) ELEX was awesome, but the combat could have been better. Risen has the best combat of any PB game. I also wish the faction choices had been a bit more balanced.
5) In no particular order: Gothic 1 & 2, Risen, ELEX, BG2, Planescape, Bloodlines, Kingdom Come, Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core. I'll get hate for the last two, but it was a sea of controversial picks no matter what after the first 8. At least those two make the storyfag in me happy. There are a lot of other RPGs that are about as good as those last two picks, but I'm hyped for the remake right now and the weeb in me demands I list at least one JRPG.

Welcome to my iggy bin, idiot.
