Holy fuck me running- This thing refuses to die... I'm gone for a month or so and the whole world is upside down. And wheres the cleve thread? it wont let me see it. I has lots of catching up to do because evidently everyone went fucking mad since december.

@ GM_JamesPro PM me here, cant get into my FB acct so if youre reading this , log in.

Edit-Let me add that I'm at a loss for words - Which is not something i'm used to, being the wordy motherfucker that i am. Dude, there are websites now reporting this shit, stories across the internet on massivley and shit- I hope you have one hell of a plan to finish this through because you just put a huge spotlight on yourself . This one isnt going to go away like Town life.

I know it's not going away... I don't want it to go away. I'm finishing the game one way or another... We start testing back up Feb. 1st and we will see from there. I have someone (won't mention who in public...) that I am talking with about funding the costs of the servers once that person has seen that I can pull it off and I'm making progress. Until then I'll just have the 10 or so of us in our Skype group testing things out.
Better stock up on chicken soup, Vitamin C and some Dayquil then; you really don't want the sniffles causing you to completely skip out on yet another test date. As for your mysterious investor...thus far you're 0/2 while GM has been under your total control. Hope third time's the charm!
Ha, Last I knew Town Life was the game. fuck chicken Soup and vitamins I'll need narcotics thank you very much.

And lets be clear, GM's never been under my control as I have nothing to do with any of this outside of giving advice to someone I dont want to see massacred. And I'm alot more than 0/2 on advice.

Oh well, I imagine its going to be an interesting couple months. Please pass the popcorn with a heavy dose of Vicodin and a bottle of jack.
DarkPenguin, the post from me that you replied to was directed at Proctor. :)

1)My advice for him stocking up on cold remedies was referring to him not even showing up to start the GM servers last May for his much touted "public stress test" (even going so far as to hold it up as proof to everyone how much work he's done) then a day or so later saying that the reason he didn't even show up was because he had a headache/the sniffles.

2) My statement about his luck with investors while having exclusive control of GM was referring to both Hagel and that nebulous deal with Rosseau both falling flat -after- he made a few posts about how he had secured funding.

I know you've tried to talk some sense into Proctor DarkPenguin, but the dude is beyond help; he's an attention-seeker bordering on pathological. Whether he's a nice guy/likeable or not doesn't even enter into this.

Really say what you want... Doesn't really bother me. I know what I'm doing behind the scenes, I know what I have currently, and I know what I still have left to do. What people say about me on some forum doesn't really effect me and certainly doesn't decide what I'm capable of or what I'm doing. You guys will just have to wait and see what happens when we start testing again.

Yes, we know what you have currently as well; software licenses, a computer and half a dozen announced, but never completed, projects (most of which were simply asset packs that you attempted to repackage as your own stuff). I'm tempted to say that you're as much a developer as Vanillla Ice is a musician, but at least he actually released something.

I have to say that, given your fairly consistent track record, that it's actually a safe bet for most of us to decide what you're capable of: generating loads of unintended yet very consequential drama and ridicule.

As for "wait and see", exactly how many times are you going to repeat this? You said it while GM was "being worked on" before you released that terrible video and people finally saw how little you'd actually accomplished, you said it last year before declaring GM's halted development in favor of a zombie survival game, then you said it again when you stopped working on that to announce City Life, then you said it again when people ripped into you on the Unity forum, then you said it again after announcing GM was being resurrected. There's no "wait and see" anymore with you Proctor; you have fucked up repeatedly over the last few years, and you have yet to learn from these multiple disasters let alone demonstrate any real degree of regret or shame.

I swear, it's like announcing something is a big button for you that says, "PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO ME", but you've pressed it so often that the quality of the attention has plummeted and yet you still hammer it like it was wired into your limbic system.

Since you're posting again will you be doing your coding stream on Twitch?

You know, now I am actually rooting for James to prove us all wrong.

By the way, what happened to Jason? He seems to have dissapeared from Youtube, KS and facebook!

Everyone disappears... James is pretty much a sniveling little kid with a lot of mental issues, so it is natural for most normal people to have sympathy for him... but it lasts for about 6 months, and then you just get fed up with his lies and stupidity. You see it in this very thread.. someone starts out being critical of him, then finds out his situation and feels a little sympathy for him and gets roped in, but then finally gives up. I am sure Lumpyman had the same experience, a little bit of sympathy, and then just getting sucked into James´ little fantasy world in his head, but then finally being able to break free. He does this with his skype group also... he gets sympathy from new people, and as much as you try and warn them, they have to learn the lesson on their own. Penquin said a few pages ago that we should give James the benefit of the doubt and see how he does with City Life.. let me tell you how it went.. exactly like everything else. He downloads something from the Asset store, takes a screenshot and then never does any actual work. Look at the new GM screenshots. I it Unistorm ( bought) a lizardmand (bought) a character system ( bought) and some random free stuff from Unity. Nothing else.

And it is just sad. James announces yet again a new possible financer... and turns out it is some random person with 1 post from his forums. James, just a hint.. a person with 1 post on your forums, who is more likely than not just mocking you, is not someone you should trust enough to announce on forums as a ´possible investor´..

For the record it is NO ONE on the freaking forums. Like I have said it's someone very specific who isn't new to GM at all. But with our current plans the funding won't really be needed.

No surprise that once again, everything on screen can be traced back to the Unity asset store.

ex:

Ok, but in your blog post you say

So now that Project Reality is released where do we go from here? What are our future plans? Well we have the basic Core implemented. We have Chat, Combat, Resource Gathering, and Crafting all implemented though with very little content taking advantage of them. We also have NPC handling, Quests, and Dialog implemented but nothing taking advantage of them other then a couple shop keepers scattered around Spawn.

An impressive feature list! No shame in using canned art assets if you can code up gameplay like that already... although, I saw from the client you are using RPG Kit, and it has some features already implemented out of the box:

Yup not ashamed of it at all... The Unity Community is full of talented people who put their work out on the asset store to be used as a starting point for other projects which is exactly what I'm doing. I'm certainly not going to get into the whole Asset Store debate once again with you or anyone else. There is NOTHING wrong with using stuff bought from the asset store. If there was then why would the asset store even exist. Even games from big names like SoTA used the asset store. I'm adding my own features. I'll be ripping the entire Photon Networking out and putting in my own uLink networking for our own Dedicated Server that players can host and doing plenty of other custom features.

Because why make an entire AAA masterpiece and sell it for $60 when you can make a single model+animation set and sell it to suckers discerning individuals for $45 :M

And whilst in general I would say that the asset store has its uses (though should really be a last resort), what you've brought to 'release' is so far 99% other people's work - hardly inspiring confidence that this will ever be finished. I seem to recall you said you'd be in stealth mode unitl you had something worth showing. I'm just trying to say, in the nicest way possible, you are not at that point yet. You could as well have just linked to the relevant asset store pages at this point.

Well we are live... I have been releasing updates just about every day except for yesterday as I'm working on some bigger stuff and wasn't at a point where I could release an update yesterday. I'll be releasing an update today or tomorrow though. And there is a few systems going on behind the scenes that allows everything to work together that I coded all my self. Like the whole Terrain Paging stuff. I've coded a bunch of custom spawners, added a bunch of items, I'm in the process of coding a bunch more stuff for territory control. Custom AI that will make it into one of the next updates. There is plenty I'm doing. It's not just bare bones assets off the shelf like you guys seem to think.

Roflmao! Sorry guys, I’ve been lurking here since ever, having a good laugh, eating some sweet popcorn and I never even bothered registering an account… how rude of me.

James, I have a few questions, I already tried asking you some of them over MMO-Champ forum but I guess you were to… overwhelmed, by all those shameless bullies, right?! Anyway…

1, how is this project announcement any different from these ones?

You already kind of explained that it was my fault that the previous “City Life” wasn’t completed, what about the rest? Also, am I missing anything there? Since you seem to have multiple accounts on Unity forum it’s kind of hard to keep track of everything….

2, considering the state of this… frankengame, do you really need all this advertisement? Facebook, blogs, YouTube, Steam, Unity forums… shit, I’m starting to think that you spend twice as much time reporting “updates” around social media than working on the bloody project, funny enough yet not really surprisingly you don’t seem to bother posting them on Greed Monger forums though.

3, Networking? Dedicated servers? Wasn’t the first step of this “project reality” to create a single player version of Greed Monger? Why do you keep yapping about that kind of shit at this point then?

Lol mate, have you read the chat logs he posted back on this thread?

Link: http://pastebin.com/VDbMggRr

This pretty much sums up his projects:

[1/3/2013 1:15:33 PM] James Proctor: I spent $99 last night to get a 1 year subscription to http://www.gameinstitute.com - There is like over 500 hours worth of Video talks on everything from C++ programming, Game Engine Design, DirectX, AI, 3D Modeling, Character Design and Modeling, to even Game Console development. AND through it I got an awesome DX 11 Game Engine with full source code so I can continue work on it then rebrand it (Make it my own Engine) and License it out all I want!

Long story short, buy others shit, “customize” it, call it your own and try to sell it, because it’s just that easy and so far worked really well for him! I wonder where those 99$ came considering that at the time he was struggling to even buy oil for the house ~

Takes a lot of nerve to announce so many games with finishing a single one

All he needs now is a micro-issue counter

Well you know none of my other projects I've asked for money with so it really doesn't matter how many things I announce. They don't hurt anyone... The one Project I've been involved in that did take money I'm finishing...

I don't think that answers any of my questions.

Also, yes, you already said that multiple times, you seem convinced that is some kind of “get out of jail” free card or something. It’s also bullshit ~

You already admitted in this thread that you were already talking to a “funder” (by the way, you don’t need to tell us that all over again that you are not going to release any information on him, no one even believes that such person even exists in the first place.), still, the last time you found a person to “fund” one of your projects, it went really well, didn’t it?

Also, besides the 10$ per hour for your amazing 10 year old experience programming skills @ http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/unity3d-programmer-seeking-freelancing-work.351889/ (ahahahahahahahaha, ohh my belly! Ahhaahahahahahahah!), you can actually find posts such as:

“More then likely what I'll end up doing is getting a Playable Game Released, get people playing it and hosting the Servers and then I'll put up a KickStarter to raise the needed funds for all of the City Assets I want to buy for creating maps with. The Goal prob. would be the cost of the most expensive asset Pack and then each stretch goal would go from most expensive to least expensive for the rest of them. I'd post links to the asset Store page for each asset pack along with Video if there is any available and screenshots so Contributors could see exactly what was going to be bought with the KickStarter Money.”

….. so yeah, now… about my questions? I got more you know =/

Proctor, while the asset store is meant to be used, I very much doubt it was ever intended to supply an entire game. You "custom coding" some nebulous behind-the-scenes networking and controller code (giving you a huge benefit of the doubt here) to glue all these assets together isn't going to make a stable game. That you boast about implementing features into GM that, in fact, you didn't actually code but rather pasted in from the asset store is disingenuous at best and dishonest bordering on plagiarism at worst.

Well you know none of my other projects I've asked for money with so it really doesn't matter how many things I announce. They don't hurt anyone... The one Project I've been involved in that did take money I'm finishing...
Also, you seem to think that announcing projects that never get made doesn't hurt anybody simply because you're not asking for money? In fact, just reading your bloviating snake-oil announcements takes time and the attention you seek from other people; consider that time = money and we can see that you are actually asking for money. But more importantly Proctor, these unfulfilled announcements and projects hurt YOU. While it's been an amusing ride through your affable yet ultimately incompetent world, at some point you can't help notice that the makeup smile on the clown isn't real, the attractive waitress is only trying to get a large tip and one person who has a well-established history of announcing projects yet never making them isn't likely to complete the hardest project of them all.

Oh, I just realized I overlooked something that I've seen Myobi post twice now (the first time over at MMO-C):

So, this was announced during the time frame when you were employed by Electric Crow Games to make GM and had access to Appleton's "server farm". We know that you weren't offering to host other people's Unity projects on your own hardware since it could barely make toast.

I couldn't help but notice that in the announcement, you also offered "a selection of Premium shared hosting".

I have two questions then:

1) Was Appleton aware that you were subleasing his servers for monetary gain?

2) What was the motivation to offer free hosting specifically for Unity Browser games?

Actually as a matter of a fact it had nothing to do with anything related to Jason or GM. I was going through a 3rd party webhosting reseller. I was NOT using Jason's Servers. Why the hell do you automatically assume I was renting space on Jason's Servers when there are hundreds or thousands of Webhosting companies that allow you to resell their services some even for free?

There once was a shepherd boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!"

The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.

"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "when there's no wolf!" They went grumbling back down the hill.

Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" To his naughty delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive the wolf away.

When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said, "Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is NO wolf!"

But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more.

Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"

But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn't come.

At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn't returned to the village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy. They found him weeping.

"There really was a wolf here! The flock has scattered! I cried out, "Wolf!" Why didn't you come?"

An old man tried to comfort the boy as they walked back to the village.

"We'll help you look for the lost sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm around the youth, "Nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth!"
