Greatest moment in a cRPG

so, we guise we're discussing it on #fallout, and we got this nice idea for a thread: instead of focusing on the greatest game, gameplay mechanics or shit like that, how 'bout we talk about the greatest moment you ever experienced in a cRPG? and by moment i mean a dialogue/scene/or shit like that that made you shiver and twitch and cum with high degrees of glee. like, for instance, ravel-transcendent one's dialogue. The trick here is that it don't need to be a good game; in fact, it can't be a bad-as-fuck game, and still have that one shining moment. it got nothing to do with everything else 'cept feeling.

now, about that pst thing, i ain't sayin' that's mine, but that's a good example

what about yours?

First of all, #fallout doesn't exist. #rpgcodex is where people talk. Anyhow, my greatest RPG moment was probably when I finished Fallout the first time. I remember I had clenaned my room that day and felt like I should reward myself with some CRPG time.

I had an 8 hour marathon session and finally beat it. It was a feeling of relief mixed with accomplishment. I just sat back in my chair, smiled and knew that at that moment everything was right in the world. God bless.

Lulziest moment:

Now for the best moment... hmmm

I was actually quite impressed with the whole Calling Dr. Grout's quest in Bloodlines. Those recordings throughout his mansion with his studies regarding "some people who believe they've been possessed" was quite well done, and I listened to all of those tapes every time I replayed the game, just because their content was so well crafted and narrated it didn't feel like a in-game event. I don't remember finding an atmosphere as convincing as that anywhere else.

The spoiler moment in KotoR...until you realize that each build gets the same one regardless of C&C

For something a little bit older, the final confrontation between Corak & Sheltem in Darkside of Xeen. It's still a good ending to this day.

Oh yes, they did. There's a loyalty mission that needs you to look like a real interesting, adventurous and heroic kind of guy to grab the attention of an Asari murderer who is at large. This murderer is attracted to people with artistic or heroic personality, she's a sexual predator that feeds on the life of her sex-mates.

That scene in particular happens when you're trying to look good but fails horribly, which explains it's dorkness.

I had so many moments like that... it's hard to tell but I'll select some of the most important:

When I finished Baldur's Gate series (I was 11 at the time so stfu) I started to cry because it was so sad for me that's the end. Also when I entered Baldur's Gate (city) for the first time (I was 9 years old).

Planescape Torments had several really sad moments too but transcendent one's dialogue and what happens after that was the most memorable.

Bloodlines was a great game in general but I can't remember one, best moment... most random moments were better than the bests moments in most of other cRPGs.

Mask of the Betrayer, first arrival in town was awesome because I was completely surprised by this game. There were also some cool moments later.

Gothic 2: Night of the Raven, entering unknown, mysterious part of the island... and this beautiful music...

Gothic - first time in old camp (and any other pretty much), first time in mine... and several other times.

These are the most important I think. While games like for example Fallout were very good in general they didn't have great moments I'd remember for many years.

Greatest moments in RPGs eh?

The first time you turn Obfusticate on the Malk in some specific spots. The ghostly whispers are very well done.

Hell, the very first time you play VTMB you play with Malkavian. Talk about a collection of greatest moments.

Ravel conversation.

1st time you talk with the ghost Deionara?

Eliminate Mertzger's slaver band in The Den before go to Modoc and further. A full application of TNT planting, locking doors, ambush in bottlnecked alley, with the scarce ammo scrounged from traders.

Acquire Lionheart blade before disc 2.

Honest answer, the end of Fallout. It doesn't get much more depressing. I wish I had never given those fucks the water chip.

this.
The dialogue between Kaylen and Myrkul is spectacular.

Sadly yes. Unfortunately it will now be hi-jacked by retardo posts.

Sad really. This is actually a very good topic.

Indeed. It will be good topic until BLOBERT and his 'papamole' fanboys will come.

Oh, wait.

I played Fallout 2 first, but I'd say the scene where the Enclave oil rig blows up and the ending vignettes, because of the fact I never played a game before that explained the consequences of your PC choices to the gameworld, were a really great moment. It was the first time I saw a game with such a dynamic way of endings.

Ultima Underworld :

i absolutely loved the level where you could learn the lizardmen language in order to communicate with them to get further. quests like these where you actually have to think for a while simply dont exist in modern RPGs anymore.

Realms of Arcania Blade of Destiniy & Star Trail

no scripted bullshit, story twist or anything else can compare to the awesome situations created by RoAs amazing travel system. Travelling the countryside in ragged clothing, half your party sick , food running low produced an *epic story* of its own that beats the fuck out of "larp with the help of gaider or avellone" crap you guys are so fond off these days.

Don't you remember the same shit being done in kotor where you dance with a twi'lik?

I'm noticing a pattern that bioware just rehashes it's same elemenets of "roleplaying".

Bioware hasn't had an original idea since KotOR. Honestly, they've just made the same game 7 or 8 times now.

The retarded dancing in KotOR was slightly more tolerable because the standards of graphics and animations weren't as high. Now that all games already live in the uncanny valley, retarded dancing animations stand out all the more. Each new game I play increasingly convinces me that graphics add absolutely nothing to one's enjoyment of a game.

Leaving Privateer's Hold and fast travelling to the city of Daggerfall. Particularly if you arrive at night and hear "vengeance" for the first time. Bethsoft's crowning moment of awesome.

Departing tanker video in FO2.

Winning a final battle in Pools of Darkness. Or in Gateway to Savage Frontier. Or in Dark Queen of Krynn. Or in pretty much any other GB game. Particularly when you realize it's not a final battle, the next one is actually final battle. Or another after that. No rest or saving in between, too.

Killing the cane of corpus rattkin in Wizardry 7. Twice.
