Kinda wondering how this will affect GTA Online. That is the financially most successful single entertainment product in human history, and there's no way the owners will let that slip from Rockstar's fingers. So an expansion upon GTA Online that lets you visit the new map and go from there would make the most sense, but the mandatory expansion purchase would be a quitting moment for quite a lot of people.

It’s not, Fortnite and Call of Duty Warzone make way more money.

My guess would be that they let you transfer things via the Rockstar Social Club to some degree.

I doubt they let GTA5 Online players go to GTA6 Online Vice City.

God I hope GTA VI is $100 at checkout. I don't care about the game itself, it's just that if they do it and other people start to do it to it will only serve to accelerate the collapse of the mainstream video game industry.

GTA6 costing $80 (let alone $100) would be fucking stupid. If they want to charge $100 for the game they should do what the other studios do for their $100 versions and just release some deluxe version of the game as well. Given how well GTA5 and RDR2 sold, Rockstar should just fuck with all the other publishers and releases it for $59.99 still. It’s not like at $59.99 GTA6 won’t be the most successful bit of media on release.

The funny thing about analyst talking about $100 GTA is that GTA, or more specifically GTA Online would make vastly more money if it was just free-to-play. Release GTA6 as it’s own thing, (with co-op and maybe with GTA4 style death match multiplayer) it’ll still make billions as a regular retail release that cost money. Then a year later you release the F2P Online version. Rockstar could be making Fortnite money if it was F2P, and as big as GTA Online is, it doesn’t make Fortnite money. It doesn’t even make sense that it’s not F2P either because they monetize GTA Online like it is a F2P game with the Shark Cards they introduced, but they didn’t ever actually take the step of going F2P; if it was F2P, at least on the console side of things, it’d bring in vastly more players because they wouldn’t need a paid membership to play the multiplayer. Like GTA Online could easily be bigger than Fortnite, but that’s never going to happened if it’s not free-to-play like Fortnite is.

It would be funny to see them raise the price and make less or about equal to what Red Dead Redemption 2 did, because GTA6 should greatly outpace RDR2. If GTA6 came out at the same price RDR2 did, if it cost $59.99 on release, I don’t think it’d be crazy for it to sell something like 30 million copies in the first week. It cost $100 on release I’m not sure it sell half of what RDR2 did the first few months it was out, they’d probably ended up making less money overall. The Online for Rockstar games is never ready to go on release, so if it was $80 to $100 people would probably just want until GTA6 Online was ready months later by which time retail outlets would probably be putting it on sale just to move units off the shelf.

100 dollerinos?
That would be a pretty bold move.
Potentially very risky as well, but will they really risk playing on the stupidity (and potential outrage) of the normie fans who are just willing to spend money to play another soulless Rockstar slop?
