I am actually pleasantly surprised by the demo. Writing is decent, dialogs feel down to earth and natural, gameplay is fine (combat is kinda bad, but it seems to be bad on purpose before you learn how to actually use weapons), and the atmosphere is similar enough to the original game. I love the idea of playing a different character for the demo, to be honest I wish there was a small expansion to Gothic now that has the entire story of Nyras or some other character so we could experience life in colony as someone else than the nameless hero. Overall, I am quite satisfied with what is being presented here. A complete turnaround since the previous demo few years ago.

I'm sorry, I simply can't take a review seriously if the author didn't even bother to say thanks and sign it at the end, extra information in red letters would also be welcome. Won't be playing the Gothic remake for this reason alone.

Thanks,
Sherry

The lighting is very dark and I had to set the graphics to "high" to get it to at least 60fps. No DLSS is a bummer. It still felt kinda laggy even at a solid 60fps, too.

But I taunted Diego immediately, calling him an old man. He killed me dead with no hesitation. Peak.

Played the demo, this is not bad, I was expecting a disaster. Things I didn't like:

- color palette. It doesn't look gothic at all. It supposed to look like it's autumn, not middle of summer.
- player character animation, so junky. They need to work on it asap.
- african drums in Gothic theme, lol

What I liked:
- dialogs and voicovers.
- no handholding
- combat doesn't seem to be this awful
- it really seems like they liked Gothic.

And why are you posting on an internet forum instead of rectifying that mistake?
Because I'm a console pleb and never played games on PC. I don't even own one anymore either. Even if I did I would be too lazy and too much of an noob with computers to probably get something like Gothic running properly sadly. I know it isn't exactly hard to do as you just follow the guides etc. In all I guess I'm sorry for not being some PC gamer who has been on this site for many years.
It's ready to go out the box on GOG.

It has workshop support on Steam so you can get the patch + mods with a simple click of the mouse.

No excuses.

I played for roughly 20 minutes now, at 4k resolution - had to change the settings to High to get 70fps. If I put the graphic settings preset at Gothic tier it doesn't go above 33fps. I have a 7800X3D, a 4080 Super, 32GB of RAM and playing it on an SSD, FWIW.

UE5 strikes again not very impressive visuals with an impressive 33 fps even when using the second most powerful cpu and third most powerful gpu for gaming.

At this point either UE5 is one of if not all of the below
Complete shit and needs to die in a fire
So easy to use companies are hiring only the cheapest and most incompetent devs and thus shit optimization
UE5 is really just some form of crypto miner

I just attacked Kirgo without warning, then looted him. All he got to say was "Good job" and then:

Now nigga is just standing there cause his pick axe is in my pocket.

Not a best presentation of reactivity, for a 20 minutes long demo with 4 NPCS.

Overall it looks like an amateurs put much effort into this, but it's still amateurish. Like a work of someone who is learning how to do things. And that's probably how it's being made, by a guys without any experience. If this demo is a representative sample of whole product they will need at least another year. There is hope for them.

I checked on my old PC and the demo is playable on minimum settings 1280x800 with about 25-30 FPS on
i3-4350
8 GB RAM
GTX 1060 3GB

The only problem is that VRAM is lacking so it looks terrible, but it's still playable.
Hmm, I have an
i5-4670,
8 GB RAM
GTX 770
and the demo always crashes right after the last loading screen before the start of the gaem (right after "Click any button to continue"). :negative:
When I start the demo, I get this notification that my graphics driver is known for causing issues. It says I should download the latest one. I do have the latest one installed though. Strange.

Now he looks like a disgusting dark indian. Does he also have the shit british voiceacting?
Do you think British turns after few generations of Pakistani immigration into something like that? He kinda reminds me of a black Turk.

There is something really wrong with art direction of the remake.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
It's good but it's also a technical mess. Crashed twice in my hour and change. Plus fuck UE5, I'm playing KCD2 now, game looks 10x better and performs 20x better. Who asked for this stupid engine, seriously.

I tried it for around 25 minutes. They did improve a lot compared to the previous demo. On the technical side, it did drop frames every now and then. The lighting is messed up. Darkness is too dark. You can't see anything. I had to upp the gamma meter by quite a lot.

Is it shit? No. Am I convinced? Not yet. Combat was okay, and voice acting was not bad, but I skipped a lot of dialog.

A little less pessimistic, but still on the negative cautious side.

Well, he changed his mind rather quickly.
