Just came across this
Where is Next Gen Gameplay? (21:44 mins)

Braindead consoomer take. Talks about how great it is that graphics are improving so much, then explains the lack of gameplay innovation with "Games are so expensive to make! People keep buying the old and formulaic!" Doesn't connect the dots that improving graphics are the problem. If graphics had stopped improving 25 years ago, we wouldn't have all these normie faggots in the hobby buying garbage products just because they look new and shiny. Developers would have to innovate their gameplay in order to sell games.

Finally got round to watching it in full and yes I agree. The emphasis on realism and the desire to compete with film and TV have led to inflated costs and less risk-taking in the gameplay department. The vid suggests that GTA6 is going to change things significantly in terms of 3D gameplay. I don't see that happening. GTA6's visuals bring GTA closer to reality than any other GTA before it. This means it will be even harder to implement video game-y experimental gameplay mechanics without it clashing with the realism that the rest of the game is trying to simulate.

This is why I don't see a next gen Xbox and PS6 bringing anything new in terms of gameplay. Both MS and Sony are competing with film and TV (see the upcoming Hellblade 2 for Xbox's take on a Sony movie video game, for example). As long as that remains the case, it'll be more of the same for gameplay: gameplay iterations of popular sixth and seventh gen 3D games – with prettier graphics.

How many more "Game that was considered good 20 years ago is actually good guys!" videos do we need.

More. But they should post them on Twitter. Modern vidya designers don't play classic games or watch YT but they sure love Musk's dopamine dispenser.
Many websites have become gamified. You could argue Codex has it's own gamified system where rating and big flashy pop ups in the corner are a form of gamifying a forum.

Problem is there is an overabundance of such content that provides absolutely no new insight or thoughtful analysis on older games.

There needs to be a distinction between "This game is underrated" and "I didn't know this game existed two weeks ago and it's good".

I'd be interested in an actual zoomer's or GenAlpha's opinions on games like Fallout and Gothic but anyone from that generation with the brains to play them - WITHOUT a guide - is probably just going to come to the same conclusions we all made anyway.

Morrozoomees are a thing. They're a passionate if...misguided lot. A lot of the larger scale mods are being partially developed by Zoomers. The weirder, more political mods are also being developed by Zoomers.

Those games made almost everyone around at their release skip them too. So probably exactly the same conclusions we all did, which was 'I'd rather play something else'.

tl;dw (din't watch) most of them can handle it, sometimes even restart the playthrough instead of giving up and playing something else (from a backlog) or returning to usual slop

beside 1st result almost no one played Fallout Tactics?

Normies don't know the difference between Tactics and BoS (Interplay get some of the blame for retard-tier naming). They hear BoS is a bad game and so they skip Tactics. It doesn't help that Tactics on Steam doesn't just work out of the box like 1 and 2 do.

Normies don't even know about BoS, the "I heard it's bad" applies to Tactics. Nobody wants to remember BoS, to be fair.

Considering that BoS is so buried you can't even really buy it anymore I'm not surprised people get it confused. Tactics also isn't exactly the best tactical game around, which is a problem for a genre most people don't really care for.
