That sounds horrible.

the first step to recover from altoholism is to recognize you have a problem

Who has a problem? Sometimes you want to play a sexy elf, sometimes a lion man in assless chaps, and still other times a hot dick girl cat girl.

I'm just a roleplayer, dammit! I need roles!
There's a reason the game ends up giving you multiple race change potions, so you can feel regret and go back to being a catperson.

Do you still have to pay every time you want some polyjuice potion and culturally appropriate another race? Because I can see a goldmine here if Squenix adds in an expensive version of this that permanently unlocks that particular race/sex combination.

Funny how they give away the best stretch of the game's storyline - the grounded geopolitical conflict - for free, and paying doesn't give you more of the same but instead an inferior Kingdom Hearts story about light vs dark.
At least if it turned into full-on Kingdom Hearts we could have a laugh seeing Donald Duck, who has canonically a billion times more firepower than Bahamut, fuck up some dudes.

You get the first one at some point in the ARR main story questline. I don't think you get the second one ever.

It's a store item. It's just that the game gives you two of them for free with every character.
I think I only got one, where is the second from ?
Can't help you there. I don't even remember what the first one is from. Owning the game? Paying your sub for a while? All I know is I get two of them every time.

At some point, many years ago, you got a Fantasia potion for free for being a suscriber. It may have been a part of the Veteran's Reward system or something like that, I just remember them announcing it and then saving that 2nd Fantasia until Shadowbringers by changing my character from a manly dude to a busty rabbit woman.

Yeah, that potion then got moved into the ultima main quest reward.

Better watch out, SDG just got several pair of Itallian shoes. You'll be swooning ditching FFXIV and lesbianism.

YOU'RE CURED NOW!

Well, that is highly opinable. Stormblood has a nice story, however. The ala Mhigo part needed way some love. Peak was Shadowbringer but Endwalker is still very very good.

My only problem with stormblood is that Zenos didn't die at the end of it.
I was genuinely worried in early Shadowbringers that they were going to repeat his story beats of being an impassable obstacle with Ran'jit.

I think Stormblood is probably my favourite expansion overall.
I started there too, and I genuinely had a blast with the job design (except for WHM, WHM was boring) and settled on SCH as my main job.
But shadowbringers took all the fun out of it with its extreme job simplification and homogenisation, which Endwalker has just further doubled down on.

I quite love the Dalmascan style dress.

I think the game looks far better than the later Legends of Cold Steel. Steel looked rather "sharp" mind the pun on the edges.

Dragon Quest.. too oldschool dragon ball cartoony (which is fine if you like that.)

@bunnehgal Have you finished this game to its current plot completion?

Are you waiting for the next installment?

Did this game keep old legacy items or do they wipe stuff continually? Aion left a foul taste when I came back. Then i cane back again and another wipe. Then again to current and yet another wipe. PWI, wiped. This gets old and I know MMORPGS get completely struck down eventually.

One should ask how fast of a connection does one need?

And why isn't there an old school 2D like the original or maybe the new ones coming to steam for online play?

I am rather set on my online play and it really is plot minimal. It is so open world that if some dude gets you a fsteway or you find one... you could stralth up to the end game-like bosses (and likely get destroyed). I have taken out Jirah (yah godzilla) with a lvl one but it was some tricky shit. Yes, euo has an oldschool kaiju.

Oh, items, alts, clans. I went to my alts and essentially nude. Some were just gone. Lockers all empty. Rules changes. I just went meh. I did mess with the eu server for a bit which was like a rollback and not the current Aion which I haven't looked at. Glad I never paid for anything.

No wonder Aion flopped holy moley. progression stays in ff14 also 90 is the level cap for now. Old content is relevant because players that are on late expansion can queue for old dungeons and raids and still earn currency that can redeemed for a lot of stuff.

Do they go to 100?

No, current level cap is 90. Level 100 might happen in the next expansion.

Because Square was taken over by the suits in 2001. The people at Square don't get to make their dream games they want to anymore. Now the make games as dictated by market analysts and accountants, which means that main titles for their flagship franchise will be 3D games with action combat. Square still does occasionally make a turn based combat game like Octopath but it is treated as a side project and not as much effort is put into it (see Octopath's issues).
