They waste time with this, yet do nothing with Vagrant Story.

If they were going to remaster Vagrant Story they would have done it by now. A shame because I'd really like to see that.

The Legend of Mana and SaGa remasters looked great, ironically they do a lot better when not working with FF.

true but why risk it? sure the Legend of Mana remaster looked pretty good but they still couldn't resist changing around a couple character designs for the SJW crowd and frankly after having bought and played the remaster...well I did enjoy it but I feel like I would have gotten just as much out of it if I'd emulated, yea? Most of the SaGa remasters I can get behind too because they're either the first time they've been translated officially (or at all in some cases) or they add extra content on top as an incentive but for the most part? leave the classics in the past where they belong because in the current industry they're generally not going to be done justice.

I am mostly interested in the reworked Soundtracks, but ~70 bucks for a 2nd remake bundle? Half seems reasonable, as posters before have said. I guess the other half pays the overhead of a large corp.

It's idiotic. Honestly, we should see an entirely new game engine with fully updated turnbased / phase based combat, etc. I mean, for fuck's sake, FF6 battles in the style of Vagrant Story would be insane. Or hell, even FFT style.

What?

Do you have examples?

Roger and Hamson's portraits were changed due to worries of offensiveness. Both were dark skinned characters with big lips, I don't know how Roger was changed but I know they gave Hamson a beard to cover said lips.

Just checked it out, Hamson's beard is some lol material.

Roger has barely been changed (from what I've seen). Which is hilarious, because Roger looks way more stereotypical than Hamson, but Hamson is the one who gets the full Beard treatment.

I actually liked Roger's new design better than the old one, all they really did was remove the lips though and lighten him up a bit. But Hamson's new design makes him look like a different sort of personality than his old design did so I'm not find of the change, he looks more intense in the old design while the new design makes him look like he's half asleep all the time

EDIT: replacing the image with a URL because while the image linked before loads in the post preview it apparently doesn't in the actual post, my bad guys

Almost all wiki images can't be linked directly on other websites, because that is hotlinking, and websites hate hotlinking for a variety of reasons (ie it takes server capacity from the wiki, but gives views and add revenue to the codex).
You have to rehost the picture somewhere else first, preferably a specific image hosting site, then you can link that.

I like rehosting my stuff on Imgur because there are extremely convenient and quick imgur firefox plugins, I think others host directly on the codex.

I’m not sure why JRPG designers don’t give the option to select the battle system. It would introduce a lot of replayabality.

thanks, I just didn't want to go through all that trouble since most of the places I go besides the Codex just allow you to drag and drop an image to post it, figured just linking would do the trick but meh

What's with that last screenshot? Are they adding icons to show where monsters are on the map?

If you mean the screenshot with the bats, it is from FFI. Those are not indicators of monster locations. Even in the NES days, those bats were always flapping in that room as non-interactive NPCs.

That would be the first screenshot. I said the last screenshot.

Got it. I’m viewing this on mobile and the way posts appear now cut off the third screenshot. So I only saw two, the second of which didn’t have anything like monster icons on it at all. I had to go to the quoted post and scroll down within it.

Not sure what those are.

Meh

Edit: This is my honest feeling. It just looks incredibly bland to me and a shitty (comparativly) CRT filter isn't exactly something praiseworthy. (And its not like its without mobile looking artifacts either)

I know everybody's creaming themselves over them right now, and that's your opinion and all, but mine is this. Meh.
Blandest looking version of the FF games I could imagine.

So this seems to be PC and mobile only, at least for now. I was considering getting FF1 for the Switch but to my shock these weren't available for that platform. You'd think they would push this on everything but I guess the FF brand really is cursed. You'd think they would've taken a lesson from how Saga handles the remaster releases.

I'd imagine they're going to do a full-priced physical package containing all six games for consoles, as well as individual digital releases.

I just think it's hilarious that they want around $100 for a collection of six NES and SNES games.
It boggles my mind that people have actually been paying it. Ridiculous.
Now remastered to look basically like you were still playing them on an ancient console that had less processing power than your toaster!
